Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood

Edinburgh Old Town
The hotel is in a fabulous location. However, the room was not very clean including the bed sheets and the internet rarely worked. The rooms are large but poorly designed (no usb outlets, only one outlet where a converter could be placed, heated towel rack in which could only hold one towel and would burn the flesh off of anyone that touched it-but was the only towel rack available). I understand it is an older building but the mold in the shower and the air systems could use some work. I absolutely LOVED Scotland; however, would not stay here again.
Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel

Edinburgh Old Town
Hotel was well located and very clean inside. Rooms made up daily. Breakfast was ok. Odd smell in bathroom - think the drains are not right. Main issues - bathroom extractor fan continuously on -annoying. The doors to other rooms slam noisily and some awful motor/generator out back of hotel also causing constant noise. Hot rooms; window only opens a crack. Overpriced for what is essentially a marginally polished premier inn.
Residence Inn by Marriott Edinburgh

Three people stay in one room, and the sofa bed can be turned into a single bed. It is a 12-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, the church, the royal mile, and the library, and there are shops along the way. The hotel breakfast is a standard British breakfast, with sausages, eggs, ham, bread, cheese, cereal and fruit. The hotel also provides free self-service washing machines and dryers, but you need to queue up to use them. The room has a microwave and dishwasher, a refrigerator, and a safe. There is a Malaysian restaurant next door. I highly recommend this hotel.
The Scotsman Hotel

Edinburgh Old Town
I can not express how disappointed I was with this hotel. I did extensive research as I wanted somewhere nice for my birthday and picked this hotel as it had great reviews and being just under £370 per night for a Delux room with city views my expectations were high. Well what a shock I got. The Bedroom was average at best and certain not deluxe. The beds were appalling, we did not manage to get sleep as the beds were made from hardwood and screwed together. I have attached pictures of the beds.... worst I have every stayed in. I felt like I was in a hostel. I felt like I was sleeping on planks. The city views was a joke as all I had was the railway station and rubbish. The room was very noisy. The TV was so slow it was quicker to watch TV on my mobile. I paid for breakfast and they said I had not had that included in the room rate of £370 per night. Also it stated complementary whisky as part of their “in room features” which was false advertising as they only provided it on day one despite it not stating that. I did question if they were going to take the other in room items out of the room ie TV, HairDryer, etc. There were stains on the chairs and carpets. The cleaning of the room was average at best. There was mould in the bathroom. They did not provide clean glasses and we had to clean them and we had to ask for Tea Bags and milk every day. The service at breakfast was awful as it depended who you were. We asked why some people were service tea/ coffee and others had to get our own. Breakfast was not fantastic. The staff were not that friendly or helpful. Was I wrong to expect a good standard of hotel / room in Edinburgh for £370.00 a night? I have stayed all of the world and never experience just a poor service / standard. Not the birthday experience I had expected. The only thing good about this place was it was central so location was good.
Malmaison Edinburgh
3.9/5105 Reviews
This hotel is historic and grand, I highly recommend it. Was once the Harbor Master's house for the port of Leith and it truly holds all of the charm of a historic building, but with many cool upgrades! The area is really charming, just off the water and a fairly quick bus ride to all the downtown sites. Every single member of the staff from the restaurant, to housekeeping to the front desk really went out of their way to be kind, helpful and attentive. This was a trip of a lifetime for me and they truly made my visit to Edinburgh all the more. I highly recommend The Malmaison. Thank you so very much for an excellent stay.
Hotel Indigo - Edinburgh - Princes Street, an IHG Hotel
4.4/5134 Reviews
New Town
We have stayed in a few indigos in the past and all have been pleasant stays. Staff here are friendly but I feel the hotel is quite tired. The corridor to our room always had a dank smell and the room itself was tatty. We had a dual aspect at the front which was both lovely and horrendous at the same time. Views fabulous, noise levels off the scale! It’s a city with city noise but the windows don’t have double glazing. We were told as it’s an old building they weren’t allowed to double glaze. I’m sure other hotels have got round this issue with secondary glazing or some such. Central location but we won’t stay again
