Myself and my family stayed at The Bowes Incline hotel for 2 nights, to attend a family wedding. I cannot speak kindly enough of the staff, and how well the place is run! The rooms are deluxe, I was in Room 3 and my family were in rooms 12 and 13? We all saw all 3 rooms and they are spotlessly clean, modern and stylish! Breakfast was included in our tariff, and guests were requested to fill out their breakfast order the night before. No problem with that. We had dinner in the restaurant on the night of our arrival, where the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful (the value for money really is tremendous) - personally I chose the Posh Cheese on Toast and the Smash Burger. I'm a big eater, but I was beaten by these two courses alone so couldn't quite stretch to a dessert! Food was absolutely fantastic. After that, and a delicious breakfast served by a cheerful general manager, we disappear to get ready for the wedding only to have our taxi to the wedding venue cancelled. Admittedly quite stressful, although the staff really did shine here, first offering to round up taxi numbers for us - but after we had no luck with each of the taxi companies, the General Manager and one of the chefs took us in their personal cars. With this alone, it's fair to say the team go above and beyond for their guests - and clearly they really do care. Absolutely lovely people, running a clearly very successful business. Being in the hospitality trade myself, it's awesome to see another local business doing a brilliant trade, with truly passionate staff. The staff knew what they were doing, in the restaurant and hotel alike. I would absolutely, without a doubt, stay here again. I only wish I were more local to dine more frequently in the Restaurant. However, a 5.5 hour drive may be a tad bit of a stretch for a dinner, unfortunately. Many thanks to the staff at The Bowes Incline for their hospitality, which did not go unnoticed within my family whatsoever.

I booked two rooms 1 for myself and my husband and the other for my sister in-law and brother in-law. So a little nervous that the rooms were good. The rooms did not disappoint. They were a good size. Very clean. Shower room large and the shower didn't flood the floor whilst in use. Good quality towels and Coffee and Tea available. After attending a funeral my sister in-law bought cake back to eat later. Richard ensured we were able to enjoy the cake along with some pouring cream. Thank you. Breakfast. There was enough available Juices, fruit, Cereals and toast. A menu for cooked food which needs to be ordered by a form the night before. At this point I must mentioned Richard. He ensured we were warm enough at breakfast and gave us a detailed history of the building which was used as a Coach House. The hotel is parallel to the A1. The noise did not cause a problem what's so ever. Windows were double glazed. A good night sleep was had. we look forward to staying there again.

We were greeted by a lovely receptionist who was very thorough and welcoming, the room was comfortable and clean and the bar area was great. We arrived too late for food (we knew we would be) and everyone apologised even though there was no need! The menu looked great though so I wish we could have sampled it. We would definitely recommend and would stay again. Thank you.

Went here for Sunday lunch but ended up having something completely different as the options on the menu even for a Sunday were great. The braised beef was amazing, and you got loads of it too! Staff were really helpful and didn’t miss anything that was asked for and there was hardly any wait (for things like extra drinks, sauces with meal etc.). We had dessert too, mine was the best, a malteser cheesecake which was Devine!!! This place has the quality, value for money and service, would definitely recommend.

Visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon in March 2024. Had scampi and chips and treacle sponge with cream and couldn't fault the service, the speed of delivery, or the quality of the food. Really nice building, and a great experience all round. I'll be back soon.

Had a great stay here with room, facilities, food & staff all excellent. A big thanks to the staff too for being really helpful after I left something behind which they returned to me without any qualms - thank you again. Would recommend highly.

Great location close to Durham and Beamish museum. Room clean and good size. Ate in the restaurant both nights of stay. Portion size very generous, well cooked and tasty. Service also very good. Only downside was breakfast. Ordered in advance which is fine plus gave a time which should work. However both days had over 30 minute wait. Other tables who came in later than ourselves served first which was slightly frustrating. But for that would have given 5 stars as also great value for money.

Two night stay for two couples. First rate and great value. Good food and friendly efficient staff. We would most definitely stay at the Bowes Incline again if we ever visit the area at any time in the future.
