GrandStay Hotel & Suites - Glenwood

I recently stayed at this hotel last weekend. I stayed in a pet friendly room as I brought one of my dogs. I was impressed from the ease of check-in until when I checked out. The location was perfect for the event I had just down the street. Walkable location to downtown Glenwood and even the waterfront. I didn’t check out the pool but loved that it that as an option. I also loved that there was access to self-serve laundry had I needed. The breakfast options were great - waffles (best batter I’ve had), assorted breads & pastries, hot items - eggs, hash browns, sausages - one day and biscuits and gravy another. Really good biscuits and gravy, yum yum. One of my favorite parts of the room was how incredibly sound proofed it was. I couldn’t hear the opening or closing of other room’s doors. This was a grand feature. Also Peggy at the front desk was super kind and friendly. It was my first time to Glenwood and I’ll be back, thanks for an awesome stay!

We had a hard time finding the hotel because of road construction, but it was worth finding. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great! Hot tub was also great. (Pool cold - parts ordered for repairing pool heat).

My wife and I stayed at GS Glenwood on Friday evening August 18th. We had forgot to request a room that would accommodate our dog so on Wednesday evening my wife called the phone # listed on the website and got a GS reservation center. She explained what she was calling about and asked specifically if she need to talk with the desk at the local hotel. The rep indicated she had found the reservation and would be able to take care of adding the dog on her end so there was no need to contact the desk at Glenwood. When we arrived there wasn't record that we were bringing the dog, but the desk person indicated no problem "I got this". First problem following that was the remote control for the TV didn't work. It took 3 visits to the room before there was equipment capable of changing the channel. There were guests running up and down the hallways talking loudly until nearly midnight. Then to top things off the morning desk attendant confronted me about having a dog in our room. She said I would need to pay $75. I said I was fine with paying the $35 that is listed on the website, but I wouldn't pay $75. I took the dog out to do his business and when I came back in she was waiting and explained since we didn't have a reservation indicating a dog and stayed in a room that wasn't designated for pets that the fee was now $100 and she pointed to a sign by the desk that said the standard fee was $50 with additional costs incurred for a pet in a non pet room. I decided I would let my wife handle the situation as she tends to handle things more calmly than me. The desk clerk ended up at the $75 figure and wouldn't budge saying we'd need to take it up with the GM. I have never seen my wife as upset as she was that morning. In the end we felt like we were fleeced paying $300 for a room, enduring one of the least relaxing evenings I've spent in a hotel. We will never stay at GS Glenwood again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone, ever!!!

So friendly and helpful! They were very understanding when I had a problem with checking in. Would visit again! Very cute lakeside town! The pool and hot tub were very quiet, clean, and relaxing at night.

Convenient location in town, close to the lake, clean with a friendly staff. Note that the resort has two floors but no elevator which was very surprising to us. Additionally the only ice maker was on the first floor so had to climb the stairs which is fine for me but to ours this maybe an issue.

I was in Glenwood on Business and this hotel hit the spot. Solid WIFI, nice and very functional desk and extremely clean. Check in was easy, with a warm inviting touch. I was impressed with the size of the king room, nice to sit on the couch and relax a bit.

This trip was a return to the town where I spent my childhood, through high school graduation. I wanted to stay in town, not up on the hill by the highway. This was, I think, the only choice. It was fairly costly, but it served my family well. The king suite, with separate bedroom, worked well for grandma (me). It had a cooktop, full refrigerator, counter for food prep and consumption, and area to watch TV or play games. Tom's grocery is very convenient and has a good selection. Two blocks to the bakery, two blocks to the park, makes a very convenient location. Early mornings we had the pool to ourselves. We wore masks in public areas (except the pool) but staff did not.

We stayed at the GrandStay for three nights. We had a king-size bedroom suite with kitchenette. It was a good size room and had all of the amenities that we needed. Rooms were clean and well kept. There is starting to be some wear and tear on the common area carpets and room furniture, but nothing too concerning. Breakfast was provided in the mornings and the selection was very good for a small-town hotel. It included waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, muffins, breads and fruit (and other things). Pool area was large and in good condition. Glenwood is a small town which made walking around town very easy. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

What a wonderful place to stay! Peggy? (pmerlino) checked me in and had helped with a last minute reservation. What a lovely person. Kind and helpful. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Room very clean. Breakfast was a welcome surprise. Again, very clean, neat and good! I would stay here again!! Didn't use pool- but looked very nice. Decor looked newer- thanks so much.
