Alpha Hotel Canberra

The Hotel does not offer food – not even breakfast. Food is one function frequently expected of hotels so I would have expected a warning at booking (phone) – but wasn’t. And they haven’t managed to adjust their website which still offers in-room dining and breakfast. And there wasn’t a selection of restaurants within walking. My bathroom door wouldn’t close, and the shower is in a slippery bathtub. Greenway is a satellite of Tuggeranong, which is a satellite of Canberra, 16 potholed kms away. Although it has its own charm, you are a long way from the action. If you think you are booking in Canberra, you’re not. One positive is that housekeeping does a good job, and the place is spotlessly clean. If it’s got the last available hotel room in Canberra, give it try. Otherwise…

Rooms are clean with everything you need. Staff friendly. Bed reasonably comfortable. The walls however are paper thin. Could hear the next door rooms conversations and the TV was loud and annoying. Really poor insulation which was frustrating when I needed sleep.

Great room for all I needed a place to call home while in lock down. I was there for 3 months and the staff was really helpfully making me feel comfortable to stay for my long short stay. Close walking distant to shops and food outlet. The gym was a life saver with all the great range of equipment. nice bush walks close by. And plenty of Kangaroos around to say hello to

Only stayed a night, as it was reasonably priced and close to my family. Pros: it was a quiet area, room was nice and dark, had a great bath, free parking and close to Tuggeranong shopping. Cons: cleaning needs a better eye for detail (fridge was dirty and there was hair on single bed and in bathroom, bed wasn’t comfortable (hard in some places and saggy in others), shampoo should have been topped up, maintenance needed on a few items and areas - a bit of TLC required. I would rate it as a 3-3.5 star!
