Gzira Hotels with Airport pickup service

There were mixed reviews online so we were a little hesitant with what we would find. The hotel rooms are newly renovated - the room ceiling will look unfinished but they all look like that. Bathroom was great, with a double walk in shower - they do have a issue getting the fresh towels back to you each day but a minor niggle and you get used to it. George on reception was wonderful and sorted us out a room before actual check in. Breakfast was great, good choice of hot and continental - there were never enough cups for hot drinks though but a minor thing. The use of the lido across the road was great, we always got a sunbed and enjoyed the swim. Location is EXCELLENT. You are 10/15min walk to the ferry to go to Valetta - we did this most evenings. There are also boats to Gozo and Comino from there. At the bottom of the road you have a variety of bars and restaurants that you can walk along that take you into the town itself. You can carry on walking and get to St Julian's Bay. This hotel was one of the cheapest deals with Jet 2 holidays and did not disappoint. In summary, fantastic staff, excellent location and would highly recommend for anyone staying in Sliema.

Starting with the information - we stayed at So City as a young couple (who arent particularly into nightclubs/bars) to see Matla for the first time over a week. I have given this a 'benefit-of-the-doubt' rating due to the hotel being incredibly new. We picked So City Hotel because of the value, it was incredibly well priced. I'd imagine this is a strategy due to it being so new but it was certainly well worth the price we paid. On to the hotel as a whole - I feel this is definitely aimed toward capturing people coming to Malta for some night life. Its positioned so that no more than 10 seconds from leaving the lobby, you can be in a bar, and their are some nice bars surrounding. That said, we werent there for that - but this location also meant that finding an evening meal, or a quick early night drink was incredibly easy. Exploring the island was also very easy from here, Valletta was a very short journey, and as we had opted to rent a car, there was a carpark about 5 minutes walk away (Pengardens) which is reasonably priced for over night parking, and we never struggled for a space. The room was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect and bedding very soft and comfortable. Our upgraded room was also incredibly spacious. The theming is a nice touch and makes the room a bit more characterful and individual. Staying on the 7th floor, there was minimal noise at night, altough id be concerned if we needed to keep the window open.... The black out curtains were also amazing for keep the room dark for a little bit of extra sleep. Constructive criticism for the room would be: The shower tempurture is difficult - the hottest setting is insanely hot (my other half loves hot showers but this was too much for her also) and it wouldnt go cold, just cooler, it also seemed to get colder through out the shower and you found yourself adjusting. There is not a lot of storage at all for longer stays. This is perhaps a by product of it feeling aimed towards 'nightlifers' who might stop 3 nights or so. I would perhaps ask reception for additional hangers if you have plenty of clothes for a longer stay. The mini fridge, altough useful, is not big enough to put larger water bottles in, which can be annoying. The aircon unit is situated in a place which means it blows directly at the bed. I tried to play with the control but there was no way to adjust it that I could find. Im trying to cool the room, not refridgerate myself. The timer on the aircon also didnt seem to work, so setting it the blow for 30 mins whilst i went to sleep just didnt seem to work. The TV is not a full smartTV which is a shame. Just channels and an internet browser, which are never nice to navigate around.... On to other notes: Breakfast is just what you need. Its not an all out buffett where there is everything you could dream of, but there is more than enough and a few items cycle so you can expect a slightly different breakfast each morning. The hotel is relatively old, but it is in the first row by the sea. The room has a small balcony, facing the yacht marina. There is a small supermarket downstairs. You need to take the bus to the ancient city. The station is also downstairs. It is very convenient.

Very dirty apartments, they never wash, in the 10 days that I stayed there, they never cleaned the bathroom and they never wash the floor, the towels were changed every day, because I always called and they were changed. Don't go there because they are really dirty.

Great service-clean hotel This is the first review I have written for a hotel The hotel was great !the reason I am writing this review is because of the hotel staff. This was an first visit to Malta and with their help.suggestion and gudisncs we had a great experience. Our room was quite opacious and enough storage for a phot stay.It was another clean .Breakfast was excellent If returning to Malta ,we will stay at The window hotel again!

We stayed here for a last minute break away for our anniversary. When we got dropped off the location was in a busy street late at night on a Saturday. When we arrived at the hotel we were expected being the last arrival of the day. Check in was very efficient and the reception doubled up as a bar. The room was very spacious and very clean, with a nice big double bed, ac, TV, safe, kettle, fridge and storage. The balcony was street facing which was small but enough for 2 and ideal for the hubby who smokes. The bathroom was again very spacious and very clean we had a nice walk in shower and the water pressure was also very good. We realised in the morning we were in the midst of a town with lots of construction but the noise could not be heard if the windows were shut. Due to this the AC was needed which is the only thing I can fault. Due to this being controlled by a panel on the wall by the entrance but no remote was available to control therefore had a disturbed sleep to change temp or switch on or off.

It is said to be an executive suite, which is no different from an ordinary economy room. The window does not have a sea view. It faces a small alley and has no view. The location is okay. The breakfast service staff feels a bit discriminatory against yellow people. Every white person asked if they wanted coffee. We I stayed for three days and had breakfast for three days. I always asked for coffee by myself.

I traveled to Malta alone and chose the Primera Hotel as one of the cheapest options in Malta. In principle, the travel guide says that Valletta is the best place to stay, but I would not agree with this, as it is an hour from St. Paul's Bay to Valletta, an hour to the ferry to Gozo and half an hour to Rabat/Mdina. Excursions such as to the Blue Grotto only go via Valletta and it takes 2 hours by bus. However, you can combine this with a travel route via Valletta or as the last spot before the airport. The hotel was clean, the rooms were more than adequately equipped and for €8 you could book breakfast on site, which was a bit English but had something for everyone. The only thing that could be difficult is being able to eat more than just fruit and bread as a vegan.

The hotel is very well designed and it offers you every comfort that you need. The rooms are spacious and with great interiors, comfortable beds and all you can need for trip. The pool terrace is great to chill out with variety of drinks and cocktails, and the views are the best parts. You feel like you are watching a post card. The pool is not a big one, you barely get to swim around, and it is more to chill down and relax. The coffee and snack bar downstairs offers nice breakfast. It is a bit far away from the main attractions and events, so you better plan to catch some taxi or a public bus.

Staff are helpful, location is close to beach and Salt Pans. People relying on public transport needa be aware that buses are always coming late, a bit tricky to catch buses in Gozo. Anyhow, the hotel itself is fine, you may tell some areas are dated but you cant ask for too much with this price in this location.
