My wife and I selected landolls for as part of a romantic getaway . At first glance we were completely taken away , after dealing with a slightly disgruntled hostess at check-in when we arrived at our room in the stable building WHICH WAS WAY OVER PRICED for accommodation. Room had a smell kinda between urine and hay/straw . Thier is a small propane fire place out behind the building that was not usable and also I want too add if you are not borderline in shape / physical fit DO NOT ATAY HERE and also the hostess in the lobby in the morning is way more unfriendly then we'll I guess the hotel staff was all as equally rude however the copper mug restaurant was amazing

What I expected for $300+ a night was not met…what we got was motel 6 w/a wedding reception sauna. Issues: $100 charge for lost key, difficult use of key, poor lighting outside at night, dirty jacuzzi, no cord to TV, HOT HOT HOT wedding reception. Unacceptable.

This hotel promises much, but comes up short. It is an unusual and interesting complex of buildings, but attention to detail is lacking. The grounds are nicely landscaped, but many of the plants and trees display signs of neglect, detracting from the intended effect. Our suite was full of character, but fit and finish came up short (sloppy caulking, creaking shower pan, only one small shower shelf). Walking around the grounds, we saw overflowing trash cans, a temporary bar left outside overnight, and tables and chairs strewn about. The staff was also noisy - vacuuming sounds at neaarly 8 PM, and slamming from the nearby office at 8:30 AM. Although picturesque, this location is not work the premium price that you will be asked to pay.

BEWARE Of Staying Here!!!! My husband and I had reservations for 4 nights during the Inkcarceration music and tattoo festival in Mansfield. We booked our stay in a cottage instead of the castle. We thought that this would be a nice and quiet place to stay instead of a loud hotel. Initial impressions were that the grounds were well maintained and very pretty. Went to check in and was immediately hit with the musty, moldy smell. Thought maybe it was because that part was very old. We were told that there would not be any staff onsite after 10pm and to call a phone number until someone answered. Got to our cottage (Thane) and experienced that awful smell again. We opened the windows to try to get some fresh air and discovered that the screens were missing, which led to a bunch of bugs making themselves at home. Furniture included a couch and a queen bed. Couch was definitely from a different era, and I’m not talking like 70’s or newer. Kitchen had a very old microwave, small fridge, and a sink. There was a small electric fireplace that didn’t work. Air conditioner did its job. If you do stay here please make sure that you have a working alarm on your phone because there isn’t an alarm clock. The bathroom was large and had a jetted tub with a separate small stand up shower. The shower had an overwhelming smell of mold and mildew, and there was no way that we were going to use the tub because it smelled even worse, had spiders in it, and brown streaks on the bottom. Bed wasn’t terribly uncomfortable, pool was nice but the waterfall wasn’t working. We had our own 2 person hot tub on a good size deck that had a table and 4 chairs, which was a nice touch. The wooden deck seemed to have a lot of rotted planks that felt unstable, so we tried to avoid stepping there. I do understand that this isn’t a 5 star resort, but at least clean the cobwebs in the room. My husband and I inquired about the terrible smell everywhere, cobwebs, and the brown streaks on the bottom of the tub. We were told that the brown streaks were from the well water and wouldn’t hurt us, and that everything there had a musty and moldy smell, but assured us that it was indeed very clean. They sent housekeeping in the scrub the shower and tub, but it was pointless. Restaurant was awful and overpriced. I want to say that I understand that the area is wooded and there are insects. Screens on the windows would have been a nice touch to try to avoid some of them coming in. I’ve had enough bugs and spiders for a lifetime, especially when they are on my pillow in the morning. If I could have afforded to just leave and try to find a different place to stay I would have, but we paid a lot of money for our accommodations ($1900) plus the tattoo and music festival had booked up a lot of hotels. In closing, I wished I would have watched a certain TV show which featured this “hotel” and how nasty it is. Think twice before staying here!!!!!! We won’t even think of returning or recommending

Unique and beautiful, this castle will delight anyone with an eye for beauty. Set apart, private and quiet, you can roam the grounds and gardens for hours delighting in the flora and scents. The staff is friendly and accommodating and you can buy a bottle of wine and snack in the castle lobby to take on your walkabout. The rooms are large and unique with outdoor tables or decks. We enjoyed staying on the site and eating in the restaurant on site. No one was disappointed! Get away from the crowds on the main road and find a peaceful, fulfilling, reprieve from the ordinary. Kids, especially, will love it!

We stayed in The Stables, which is supposed to be a"luxury suite". It was lacking even some basic items (luggage rack, comfortable chair, etc). There is no free breakfast. The shared terrace is really a metal table on the sidewalk. I expected more for almost $500 for two nights. The lady at check out said that The Stables rooms are really just regular hotel rooms. I've had much better regular hotel rooms. What a disappointment!

The staff at the Castle were very accommodating to us on a short notice. Did everything in their power to make sure we had a great experience. Joe and Chelsea made sure everything ran smoothly during our group function and helped us throughout the entire process.
