Room looks a little bit rundown but it was spacious and the ensuite bathtub made for a great way to relax after an entire day of walking around in the city.
It was located a little distance from the Tram stop, so if you dont know the shortcut, it could take a while to see and walk to the hotel.
Breakfast selection and variety was great, enjoyed the meals thoroughly.
Location was near the civic centre and National Library, so that was a nice bonus.

Recently been touring the Holy Land and stayed in this very ordinary hotel. The party were there for 4 nights while in Jerusalem. The rooms are ordinary but we’re tired and needed some TLC. The breakfast and dinner buffets were good and offered a fair variety to meet ordinary needs bu5 it did not sparkle. The internet was reasonable and did the business. In the basement was a group of shops. I used the coffee house as the hotel coffee was nothing special. The hotel was noisy as it seemed full with runners for the Marathon as well as other touring groups. Staff were mixed. Some were very helpful, others seemed to treat guests as nuisance. They should work on there welcome. Yes the hotel is ordinary in need of a make over if it wants to improve its reputation.

Great hotel, great choice for breakfast, refined and healthy. The rooms are also beautiful, with large stone buildings, typical of the Jerusalem style. The location of the hotel is a few minutes walk from the old town. The service is also very good from the door to the front desk. It's just that it's inconvenient to drink when the minibar is empty. In addition, there is dust on the bedside counter, and hygiene is not very good.

Once again the David Citadel lived up to all expectations from the comfort of the rooms, the graciousness and courteousness, to the food and the ambiance. We stayed at Villa Ba Moshava to be near our family who live in the area. This was a repeat visit to the hotel. The hotel is in a beautiful historic house that has been tastefully renovated. The terrace area is lovely. The staff are polite and helpful. There is 24/7 tea and coffee in the lounge which is great. Our bedroom was very comfortable but on the small side. When we booked we should have requested a room with bath, they were all taken when we checked in. A nice touch of luxury is bathrobes and slippers in the room. The hotel doesn't have a car park, but you can usually find parking nearby on blue and white. All in all, can recommend.

We made our reservations for an 18-day stay about two weeks before arrival. Our arrival from Ben Gurion Airport was close to midnight (after our flight from San Francisco). We should have suspected something right from the start. The desk clerk checked us in and created magnetic cards for our door lock. He handed us the cards and then said, “Those probably won’t work, so here’s a real key.” Our attempt to sleep in the next morning was foiled by the curtain drooping with hooks unattached from the curtain rod. (However, we didn’t miss much since a violent storm brought rain and hail to the streets … no fault of the hotel.) Breakfast was the usual Israeli buffet overflowing with fish, eggs, biscuits, rolls, juices, coffee, tea and all things dairy. Breakfast is NOT included in the room rate. However, there is a meal plan. Unfortunately, the chefs aren’t there and no meals are available other than breakfast and on Sabbath. After breakfast we wished to call some family members, but found that our phone didn’t work. An inquiry to the front desk was answered with, “If you want to make an outside call, come down to the front desk and we’ll make it for you. The room phones do not provide for outside calls.” I should mention, as a point of interest that apparently a good part of the hotel’s income has traditionally derived from the Chassidic community that travels from the surrounding area to attend a Sabbath weekend each week. Orthodox guests, with men in formal regalia, many wearing fur hats, arrive with their often-large families throughout Friday afternoon. In consideration of Orthodox observance, the hotel provided actual real “Shabbat keys” for rooms so that electric power would not be used. In the same spirit, one of the two elevators operated automatically, going from floor to floor continuously. Shabbat services are held prior to dinner, which typically begins after 8:00 pm. The meal is expensive, but extravagant. The buffet overflows with a variety of meats, vegetables and deserts. Red wine appears on every table. Heaps of chicken schnitzel (the Israeli national bird) are devoured and followed by more heaps. Little kids run uncontrolled between tables and the legs of adults. Teenagers flirt, but don’t touch. The Shabbat festivities go on until near midnight, so don’t expect quiet in your room. Morning finds the crowd at the typical big breakfast after which the men begin their services in the cleared dining room and kids romp in the courtyard. A late but abundant lunch is served, followed by naps, Torah studies and then evening prayers. After (religiously official) sundown guests check out and leave the crowded lobby for their transportation home and a new week begins. (Parenthetically, on our first Shabbat, the non-Shabbat elevator became stuck on the top floor of the hotel. Our suite was located on the fourth floor and we were reluctant to climb, so we grudgingly took the floor-to-floor option. The elevator remained stuck for the next three da

GGuest UserI really wanted to like this place after reading all the great reviews here but came away with slightly mixed feelings. On the plus side, it is a beautiful old building, and the location is fabulous, just a few minutes walk from the Damascus Gate (the entry into the most interesting part of the old city) and the nearby light rail stop. My room felt a bit tired and in need of an upgrade though - a decent coffee machine and real cups rather than disposable ones would be a good start. Staff were pleasant enough but didn't go out of their way to be helpful. There's a nice airy restaurant on the ground floor, but in a country with such fabulous food pretty much everywhere you go, I thought the breakfast left a lot to be desired, and for that reason I didn't attempt any other meals here. I was travelling alone and for a place to lay my head at night, it was perfectly fine and a reasonable price, but it wasn't a place that I wanted to linger in. If I were back in Jerusalem with my family I'd forego the atmosphere and look for something a bit more modern.
The staff are very helpful and nice. Good varied breakfast with home made bread. The room is well furnished, simple no frills. Well heated for this time of year. The shower lacks water pressure, you have to switch on the water heater. The overall price is reasonable for this area of Jerusalem. The garden is lovely. We enjoyed our stay.
SSim EI loved staying here. Fabulous location and the staff are so helpful. The market is across the road (and so are lots of other fab shops), but with my apartment overlooking the back lane, I had total privacy and quiet, which I loved. And I had a BATHTUB! Big deal for me and one I made use of! And the kitchen allows you to eat in when you want - Shabbat included. I am going back at the end of my Israel visit - which I guess is the best recommendation possible. Suggestions for improvement are very few: 1) Supply a bathplug. Saves me buying one. 2) Get the stains off the bathtubs - they look dirty but are not and I know because I scrubbed them!) 3) Jerusalem is cooler than the rest of Israel so I would really love a fan so I don't have to use aircon (cheaper for you - but I know it's not for everyone). And 4) icecube tray in freezer.
YYONGDIGood breakfast, convenient transportation, very close to the ancient city and the Western Wall. Light rails and buses can be used in 5 minutes on foot. However, there is a small uphill road to the hotel, but it is still good. The hotel room is small, but it is still relatively clean.
GGuest UserStayed here for 5 nights in October. Within walking distance of the Damascus Gate into the old city of Jerusalem. Great food and service. We were staying here when war broke out on 7th October and the staff were wonderful liasing with our travel company to get us out and over the border into Jordan on the following morning.
GGuest UserThe location is excellent, and the staff was friendly and helpful. In fact, breakfast was excellent as well, a delightful buffet. However, the building has seen better days and is way overdue for renovation. The bathroom, in particular, was dilapidated, and the room itself, basic in the extreme. And be forewarned that there is really no parking anywhere nearby - unless you have an app for Jerusalem street parking, and for that you need an Israeli identity card.
GGuest UserGreat hotel with friendly service. Ramzy the hotel general manager was attentive and polite to guests. Only 15 minute walk to Holy sepulchre church through Damascus gate. Breakfast and dinner had very good selection of tasty food. Rooms comfortable and clean. We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Thank you!
GGuest UserO my God... where do I begin?... The hospitality & love the staff shows is apart from anything I've experienced in Jerusalem! It is the.most moderately priced hotel (yay for that!), but the breakfast you get is nutritious & vast enough, the mint teas or coffees you can pour yourself throughout the day are a very special touch, and if you need a pick-me up lunch or dinner they make that available to you, too, with no hassle just love, and it's delicious! They renovated the 3rd floor, which is really special with marble floors, a big TV screens and very nice rooms! Lower floors are less expensive & modest, but they're all you need when you're on a pilgrammage, and was perfect for me! Also... this is the clincher: you begin the Walk of Jesus from this very point to the Garden of Gethsemane along Palm Sunday Road, then through Lion's Gate and Via Dolorosa to the very, very Church of the Holy Sepulchre! And this, you must walk for the full experience or you're seriously short-changing yourself! - Which means, you should be based at this hotel! The best upscale & quaint restaurant & cafe is right beside the Hotel and everyone says they ate the ery best shewarma of their lives here! Also... another clincher: the Mount of Olives Hotel is right beside the Ascension rock from whence Jesus ascended! A must visit! Orthodox churches & monasteries are all around the Hotel so again, a perfect choice for Orthodox Christians, and remember, you can walk to Old Town Jerusalem from here or take a local bus! And you have the best wide angle view of Jerusalem from the Lookout Point, overlooking the Dome of the Rock & the Golden Gate! And on a personal note: someone stole my iPhone from the OldCity, so I had to ask staffers umpteen times to use their mobile phones for whatsapp communications with my security advisor, and they were always obliging, understanding patient & compassionate! They just have a whole lotta' love! I will never forget them, and will base my future groups here! They got My Vote! Best & God Bless! xo~A Angelina of Jerusalem
