"This hotel is massive. Its comprises of 3 buildings and each building has its own public bath. And one of them has outdoor bath.
The room I booked has balcony but it was too chilly to sit outside.
Gym and swimming pool are also available but for ¥1,000 fee.
Dinner was not impressive but the hotel provided 2 different foods on each dinner during my 2-day stay. Breakfast spread was good but it is buffet style and it was busy and chaotic.
The best thing about this location it is very close to Gero station yet the hotel has pick ip and drop off service for every train schedules."

"The onsen quality in Gero district is really superior. Skin feels very silky. The floor structure can feel confusing but we got used to it very quickly. The hotel offers good onsen and kaiseiki experience at economical price. Lots of local Japanese so it felt very authentic.
The only downsides are 1. lack of entertainment
options eg local performance, art & craft for young kids 2. Very crowded breakfast time. They could arrange different breakfast halls to divert the crowd or give timeslot tickets in advance."

"Traveling during the National Day holiday, we booked a one-night stay with two meals. After arriving at Shimonokusu Station, an old man holding a sign guided us to the shuttle bus, which was surprisingly full. The meals, for this price (though there was a holiday premium), weren't quite on par with what we've had in Hakone or Okinawa, but they were certainly filling. We were attended to by a Chinese-speaking staff member. The private onsen in our room had extremely hot water, requiring a lot of cold water to temper it. Finally, when checking out and heading to the station, the hotel arranged and paid for a taxi for us."

"What a satisfying trip! The duplex room had a living room on the lower level and a bedroom, bathroom, and open-air bath on the upper level, fulfilling my long-held dream of staying in a duplex. The hotel was huge, with public baths on the 2nd and 8th floors respectively. Both were large and very comfortable to soak in, but the open-air bath in the room was even more convenient and relaxing, especially in the morning while enjoying the view – a wonderful experience. The room was fully equipped. Dinner was arranged at the Western restaurant, and my husband said the sound system there was incredibly expensive. Breakfast was a buffet, mainly Japanese-style, which didn't quite suit our tastes."

"[”1: The service was really lacking. I had two large suitcases and it was pouring rain, but no one helped me get them into the car. There was no bell boy. The old man at the front desk only helped with my shoes. His English was terrible. When I called the front desk at night, no one could speak English.”,”2: The rooms in the main building are quite spacious and comfortable, but there are no showers in the rooms. You have to go to the large public bath for a shower, and there's only a toilet in the room. If you're traveling with children, definitely don't stay in the main building, unless you're lucky enough to get the room the Emperor stayed in!”,”3: The breakfast was incredibly disappointing. Compared to other onsen hotels, their breakfast was very, very meager.”,”4: The hot spring water is truly excellent; it's wonderful for your skin.”]"

"A charming and comfortable traditional Japanese ryokan. The location is excellent, directly opposite the JR station; you can easily reach it by following the pedestrian signs across the railway tracks. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive. They kindly allowed us to store our luggage before check-in, which was great for exploring the onsen town without any burden. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and ample Japanese meals (washoku), for which you could confirm a preferred seating time. Complimentary coffee was also available in the first-floor lobby lounge. The onsen facilities were excellent, including a lovely open-air bath (rotenburo). Overall, we were extremely satisfied and would highly recommend this ryokan."
Gero Onsen is one of Japan's leading hot springs.
Please enjoy the beautiful skin in the open-air bath where you can spend a relaxing time in the clear air.
"This hot spring hotel is mostly occupied by Japanese people and there are very few foreign tourists. Everything is better than expected, and the package with two meals is very cost-effective. The room is in traditional Japanese style, very large and old but very clean. The hot spring pool has indoor and outdoor areas. When I went to soak in the outdoor area at 4 pm on the first day, I was the only one there and the environment was very good. When checking in, the front desk will let you choose the dining time. The buffet is divided into three time periods. I chose the earliest time period. It was basically full every time, and there were a lot of delicious food. According to the comments, there is a free shuttle every half an hour, but in fact, the shuttle needs to be booked in advance and is not free. I walked to the hotel because I didn't wait for the shuttle. People with a lot of luggage are advised to take a taxi or leave the large luggage at the station because the second half of the walk to the hotel is uphill and it is tiring to drag the suitcase."

"Gero Hongyekan Wanboting is really great! In Japan's three famous springs, Geroizumi, the service is very good. There is an open-air bath on the roof of a sister hotel, and there is a car to pick up and drop off at any time from 9 to 12 in the evening, which is very convenient. The water quality is so good, the sun that soaks up the skin will slide down when it falls on it. A wonderful hotel experience! The beauty at the front desk drove me out to buy urgently needed products when I was in an emergency. Every detail was great. The Japanese-style room was also spacious. I really like this place. I will definitely go again if I have a chance, and I will definitely stay here again. hotel. Breakfast is included, and the environment and ceremony are very beautiful! The hotel itself has indoor and outdoor hot springs. When it snows, get up early in the morning to soak in that outdoor hot spring, which is quiet and beautiful! Its sister pavilion has a very strange inclined elevator, and the hot spring water is the smoothest I have ever soaked in."

"Four sisters stayed in one room. Breakfast and dinner were delivered to the room. I stayed for two days and the food was different every day. The taste was good.
Before eating, a waiter would come in to set the table and clean up after eating. Although I couldn't understand Chinese, it was still good.
The hotel car would pick us up when we arrived at the station, and they would also pick us up when we went out to play.
It felt very friendly!
The overall hotel facilities are relatively old, but hot spring hotels are like this"

Amazing
GGuest UserAlthough it is a home-operated bed and breakfast, the service facilities are no worse than large hot spring hotels, and even the service is more courteous than large hot spring hotels
Location: The guesthouse is located closer to Onsen Street, about 15 minutes from JR station
Service: Since we arrived at the hostel early, the staff helped us store our luggage and was very courteous to provide us with a map of the surrounding attractions to introduce us to how we can play;
Hygiene and facilities: The inn with a light fragrance, very comfortable; loan cut is also one of the features of this inn, after soaking in the hot spring also prepared refreshing wheat tea for us 👍
GGuest UserLovely onsen ryokan. Staff don’t really speak English so there’s a bit of trying to figure things out for yourself. Nevertheless, service was friendly and helpful as best they could. The outdoor onsen is really relaxing and because it’s not a crowded hotel, both times I went I had it to myself as did my wife and kids in the ladies area. We picked the room with its own outdoor onsen tub which is a great option if you don’t want to use the non-private ones. You can apparently book private onsens but they did not have any available for us (possibly because we arrived slightly late in the day). Food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. Kids couldn’t;’quite enjoy the onsens cause they found the water too hot so you may want to make sure your kids can before you decided to splurge. One final point, the ryokan is located down a tiny road on the right just before Google Maps tells you that you have reached.
JJungseokExperienced the best satisfaction at a ryokan and not expensive price.
The building is old and old, but it was well maintained and clean, and unlike the appearance, the interior was quite spacious.
The owner's family were very friendly and provided the best service and meals.
The hot springs are small too, but the water is very good, clean.
It's a place I definitely want to visit again later.
Thank you! :)
GGuest UserThis is the best onsen hotel we’ve stayed in, among those we’ve stayed in for the past 12 years! We stayed here for 2 nights.
We’ve extremely grateful to the hosts for their outstanding service and hospitality from the heart. Loved the thoughtfully varied menu for each meal.
The establishment is spotlessly clean and excellently maintained. Each morning, our towels and yukata (hotel gowns) were replaced. So were the amenities ( fragrant green tea packs, snacks). The housekeeping staff even offered to mop our rooms after only one night’s stay.
The wifi was also fast and sustained well in the guest room and public lounge areas. There are facilities to cater to a wide range of age groups from seniors like us and children too. There were ample resting chairs in the lounge and on the way to the historian’s well as guest rooms.
The best facility was the hot springs! They are
exactly as depicted in the hotel website. Numerous indoor pools of various temperature all have the renowned ‘beautifying’ odorless alkaline water. My skin felt so smooth and moisturized after only one soak.
What’s more the hot springs stay open for in-house guests from 10.30 am to 11 pm and day-trip visitors from 10.30 am to 8 pm. In-house guests can also use the hotsprings early from 6 to 9 am. There is a European dry sauna as well as wet steam rooms in both make and female hotspring areas.
We would love to stay here again!
Ssjf1986aaaIt is a sister hotel with Fugaku next door. Before we even got to the door, the old man of the hotel came over to confirm whether we were staying. The names of the people matched. When we left, the old man was waiting for us at the door very early. When we went out for a walk, he also thoughtfully prepared a map for us. The service of the older generation of Japanese is really amazing. There is a special room for breakfast and dinner, which tastes good. There is a private bath in the room. Open the window to the outdoor private bath. Hehe, there are several hot springs upstairs and downstairs. My wife took a bath three times a day and soaked in all the hot springs. Gero is not big, so it is suitable for a leisurely stroll for half a day, eating some snacks, returning to the hotel to taste food, watch the snow, and take a bath.
家家庭旅遊控小B仔Location: At the main store in Gero, it only takes about 5 minutes to walk. You can also go to the hotel without taking a taxi from the train station. The hotel will cover the taxi fare, which is very considerate. When I left the hotel, they took the initiative to call a taxi for me. 10 points for praise
Facilities: The bathroom is very comfortable, the bed is also very comfortable, everything makes me feel 10 points comfortable, highly recommended
Ppeony wooquite far from jr station
but walkable and have bus transfer service
dinner and breakfast are unexpectedly great
both enjoyed the hida wagyu so much, very tender and juicy
hotspring environment is authentic, traditional and family friendly
nearby attractions are reachable
KKuektankaiThe location is very convenient, very near to train station and city centre. Luggages storage is available and there is kitchen for guests to use.
YYuzuojianThe shaking of the elevator 🛗 spills the cup of coffee. I felt very dangerous. Welcome drinks were very good. The service of Oden 🍢 and Ramen 🍜 is the best. The private open-air bath was not good, but the underground bath was good. For dinner, grilled meat on a pottery plate 🥩 Hobamiso is delicious. Free alcohol drinks were also good. The water splitting of the sub-flowing water in Hida was the most fun. At breakfast, Orange 🍊 was very sweet and delicious. I wish I had ice cream. In terms of price, I will give you a passing score. In addition, please provide customer service. I would like to use it again. Fireworks 🎇 also looked a little!
AAnonymous UserThis was my first time using this hotel, but it was non-union so I took the train to the site.
I had booked a shuttle bus from Gero Station so they took me to the hotel.
The room was spacious and clean.
Dinner and breakfast were served as a buffet.
Even though it was a weekday, there were a lot of guests and dinner reservations could only be made at 5pm or 8pm.
When eating, everyone was greedy as if they were fighting for food, which was a shame, but there won't be another time!
There was an indoor bath, an outdoor bath, and a sauna.
It's a popular hotel so it's good if you're concerned about price.
