The hospitality was truly brilliant. We don’t speak Japanese and the staff were so helpful and patient. The breakfast and dinners were the best meals we have ever had. We are already dreaming about the flavors. One person in our party is very allergic to fish and is a vegetarian - they were so thoughtful and creative with the substitutions - she loved everything! The private onsen was also an amazing treat - nothing like a hot dip on a cold night looking at stars and bamboo forest. We would definitely recommend and return! The town is also just a short walk away (and lovey through the walking path through the park). Just a lovely, dreamy, stay.

Serious disrepair!
The photos they post made this hotel look stunning but in actuality everywhere you looked where signs of age and serious disrepair. Peeling wallpaper, stained ceilings with water damage, marks and scratches on walls. The Kaisakei dinner was not great either. The outdoor onsen was nice. This hotel needs a serious makeover.

This was above and beyond our expectations. Our private bath looking through the bamboo to the river was lovely. The meals were over-the-top incredible. Looks like several inns in Yamanaka did not survive COVID. Grateful that this unique inn did.

The food is just the right amount and seasoning for middle-aged and elderly people. There are several types of alcohol at reasonable prices. Outside the room is a bamboo forest, and below you is the Daishoji River. A service that is decided by Mr. Nakai in charge. An onsen ryokan that is just right for the price.

The dinner I was looking forward to What was the main dish? Yellowtail teriyaki was hard and dry. This time we are staying with 6 friends. The incident happened when the sashimi was brought in front of my husband!!! Kaku) Surprised, I said to Mr. Nagai, "I've never seen sashimi this small before?" !!Mr. Nagai! It is impossible as a customer. I pulled myself together, and there was a sake tasting on the menu, so I chose 3 types, but I didn't have 2 of them... "Then what do you have?" ? If you don't have it, I don't think you should put out a sake tasting menu. It's a really disappointing place to stay. I will never go there again and do not recommend it to anyone.
