It turns out it was very good when the Germans ran it. Now that the boss has been changed to a Chinese, the experience is not as good as before. The geographical location and landscape architecture are still based on the Germans, which is great. Software has plummeted compared to the days of the Germans, Netflix accounts are not given out in suites, toothbrushes are harder than those used to brush shoes, and rolling paper is the cheapest. The equipment of the suite should at least be upgraded to a certain extent than that of the ordinary room. I don’t know how it can be sold for more than 1,000 yuan a night in the peak season. There are only two bottles of mineral water a day, and if you don't have enough, a bottle costs 50 baht. It's like a cheap hotel. I have been staying there before the epidemic, and I will probably change places in the future. The facilities are old and have not been repaired. The staff are still very nice but there are very few people. They are just strong enough to maintain operations. The food in the restaurant has become unpalatable. Overall, it's a failure and a waste of a perfect location.

There is no beach, only seaside cliffs, as you can see in the photo. Housing prices are a little expensive.

Lovely staff, good rooms, comfortable beds, sea views, very satisfying. There is a slight booking problem. The promotion price is wrong, you have to reserve and pay first. It took a while to coordinate. But the trip is responsible. Return it later.

We could not have had a better time than here at the Houben. All of the staff were so attentive and friendly from start to finish. In-fact we extended our stay and still did not want to leave! The room was so spacious, clean, modern and gorgeous. The view is unreal. The pool is stunning and the food and cocktails were delicious. We even enjoyed some of the games on offer in the restaurant, when we had a little rain. A really great, relaxing atmosphere. Again, we could not praise the staff more, they all deserve so much credit. Always making us feel welcome, it was sad to leave! I wish I’d wrote this review sooner but I’ve never been good at completing reviews but this hotel deserves a 10/5!! I really hope we make it back! Thank you The Houben!!

We stayed at one of the suites at The Houben for three nights a couple of weeks ago, and honestly - it was WONDERFUL. The only complaint I have is that three nights wasn't enough! Some highlights... 1. The view is spectacular!! The sunsets are spectacular!! (But the photos attest to this right??!) 2. The staff are amazing. So kind and courteous, and went above and beyond to help us. They booked multiple transfers for us, and showed a genuine interest in our safety when we enquired about renting a scooter - we decided to take their advice on board and rent a car and driver for the day and we weren't disappointed. The driver was amazing! He told us so many facts and stories about the area. And, the staff also organised an early breakfast box for us one morning. 3. Monkeys!! No doubt the locals see them as a menace, but they're good entertainment for us guests - also, one stole a melon from my breakfast plate one morning and who I assume was the manager was so apologetic!! It wasn't necessary to be so apologetic but we appreciated it all the same! 4. The bed and the room was very comfortable!!! 5. The abundance of fresh fruit was a nice touch!! 6. 2-4-1 between 5-7 on cocktails and beer!!! Some points to improve... 1. The hotel is a bit tired... The outside jacuzzi in the suite was very tired, and almost broken 2. The shower's hardware was a bit tired and old looking (but it worked!!) 3. The pool... We appreciate that the red pool is a statement piece, but it's not very appealing! If the time comes to revamp it, maybe stick to blue? 4. The wardrobes and drawers were worse for wear However, the points above wouldn't stop me returning!! They're small details in the grand scheme of things!!!

Magnificent hotel, very quiet and really well located. The staff is very competent and super friendly. A la carte breakfast with a magnificent choice. The rooms are beautiful and super large with incredible views. Small hotel so you are almost alone in the world. 5 minutes away you have the sea and some restaurants with entertainment

What a joy to find this wonderful boutique hotel sitting on the cliff top above Kantiang Bay . We stayed 3 nights and it was bliss ! The rooms are comfy , clean and spacious, The staff were fantastic , there’s a great little air-con gym and the breakfast was superb. The red pool sits in the centre of the hotel and is a great friendly hang out where we met some lovely people. Its only a short stroll down to the beach and the village with the fabulous HIMALAYA restaurant. Undoubtedly the best place we’ve stayed in Thailand. Just perfect .

We stayed at The Houben for 5 nights & wished it had been much longer! We were welcomed by Eric & a refreshing drink & were given lots of useful information about the hotel & Koh Lanta generally. The staff here are amazing- attentive, respectful & so proud of their resort & island. Our room had fantastic views over the infinity pool & the bay/ sea beyond. It is the perfect spot for watching the long tailed boats go past & the sunsets. The room itself was spacious & clean with a huge bed, bathroom with big bath & separate walk in shower. The balcony had comfortable seats & we were lucky to be able to watch a family of monkeys playing around the pool & grounds early one morning. We had previously been in Bangkok & Ao Nang which was a really busy time so The Houben was our chance to relax & recharge, spending mornings enjoying the great a la carte breakfast & around the pool then heading out in the afternoons. The hotel is within walking distance of plenty of restaurants serving great Thai food & a couple of bars. Kantiang Bay boasts some of the best sunsets & is a beautiful beach to watch the world go by. The people here, both at the hotel & the wider area, are so friendly & helpful- we loved getting out & about via Tuktuk & taxi to explore. Lanta Old town is small but has fantastic restaurants with spectacular views. I cannot recommend The Houben enough- it was the best stay & we felt that we were a million miles away from everything- a genuine slice of perfection. Thank you Eric & your team, we hope to see you again.
