Hotel Cristina

Average stay, in a very nice place of town. Secluded but short walk to city Center. However we booked a room for 4 and there was only one bed when we went in. Called reception and they took 3 hours to set up our other bed. Breakfast is good, but service is lacklustre. Nice views of Lake Garda

HF Holiday guest here. On the plus side - great position with views of lake, clean and with friendly staff. Minus side - one mile uphill from ferry jetty not good after full day walk, huge size of hotel (150+ rooms) and dreadful dining conditions. Rooms - clean but noisy, with use of loos and flushing of loos / draining of bathwater from all directions Populated mainly by large German coach tours, featured in Tui and Jet 2 Holidays. Other languages rarely heard, meals geared towards German palates. Restaurant better described as a canteen and management refuse to sit groups together. Restaurant cannot cope with numbers and is like a conveyor belt, with plates and cutlery snatched away at earliest opportunity to get you up and out. Zero ambience, with buffet involving a lot of walking/movement by everyone. Dreadful experience and totally contrary to HF friendly dining ethos.

Beautiful hotel excellent views ! Food was amazing free wine at dinner all you want to drink ! Room Beautiful and very modern ! The hotel is spotlessly clean and well maintained we will definitely come back! My family also loved the hotel and will return !

I’ll start with the good: The view was beautiful, the pools are fantastic, The rooms are fairly large. Now onto the Not so great: The first room we were given was absolutely terrible. The worst room I’ve ever seen. I mean ever. We requested a room change and it was granted, but not until we were chastised for asking for it. The next room was a fantastic layout with a humungous balcony and a beautiful view. The room itself was very dated, and the beds were very old, but compared to the first room, it was much better. Breakfast and dinner are both buffets. Breakfast is included and was mediocre. We paid for dinner one night, it was absolutely terrible. There are amazing restaurants, if you just walk down the hill I highly recommend anything else. Getting to your room with all of your bags as the most awkward process ever, you have to walk right through the middle of the restaurant while everyone is eating, and it’s about a 10 minute walk. I very much felt like we were being punished because we booked our vacation through ******* and not directly through the hotel. This place needs serious renovations, but I will say again, the view is beautiful.

Together with a group of walking friends, we stayed at Hotel Cristina for a week. Whilst the bedrooms were spacious, clean and well equipped, with nice balconies affording a wonderful view of the lake, the experience in the dining room was one to be avoided. It was impossible to reserve tables so that we could sit together, and the dining room was more like a canteen than a restaurant. Whilst the food was plentiful and reasonably good, the scrum for tables made dining a challenge rather than a pleasure. The Management were unwilling to do anything to help resolve this problem. Comfort of the guests appeared not to be their priority. Also there was nowhere suitable to sit and relax with a drink before dinner or with coffee afterwards, the latter because of blaring music. This would not be an issue in the height of summer as there was ample outside space, but this was unsuitable in the cooler evenings. The Cristina is not a hotel I would not recommend.

I was holding off before reviewing, but looking at others raving about how beautiful rooms are - I just thought I will warn others. (avoid rooms 602-610 definitely). We have won this trip and the room was already chosen before our arrival and breakfast paid for. I have never seen worse breakfast buffet (not sure how much this costed though), to the point after trying once we decided to eat breakfast in town even if it was paid in the hotel as quite frankly this was the worst food we had in Italy. In fact the only terrible food. To be surrounded by such amazing quality produce and serve that? Poor quality, no taste, overcooked. Room itself? We could choose between being woken up by other people having showers or using toilets as you can hear the water being flushed above and below (as loud as flushing in your own bathroom) or high room temperature or a loud sound from AC, which I don’t believe was ever cleaned. Mould on the walls and dirty dated carpets. Service okay, views obviously beautiful (this is given when you stay anywhere in Garda), pool surprisingly clean. Overall the worst place we stayed at. Ever.
