We had looked at other camps but decided to stay here and would recommend it.. it’s not luxurious but very comfortable. The tents are spacious and neat. We had ones overlooking the river and the grunts and noises from the hippo did not bother us. Tents get hot in the afternoons, so do ask for a fan. The bathrooms are huge and have hairdryers. We had 3 rooms and out of that, one had good shower pressure , one was ok and the last one was a trickle. The laundry service is good, which is useful as clothes get very dusty. Since they don’t allow plastic bottles, you are given personalised metal bottles to fill drinking water from the safe tap in the tents. All tents have flashlights, umbrellas and insect spray for the rooms The staff is excellent, they take care of everything. We decided to have a picnic, breakfast and lunch. The food and drinks were loaded into our vehicle before we had arrived to start the safari. We are all vegetarians and the chef was very happy to come out and talk to us about our requirements. Some dishes like the vegetable rice, dal, baked potato were excellent but others like the green risotto were ok. One dinner was local vegetarian food and it was delicious , especially the okra. Thank you chef. Our guide Dickson was very knowledgeable and patient. He knew all the good spots for viewing and even managed to show us a river crossing of the wildebeest! They keep raincoats and blankets in the vehicle for your use. We had a great time.

It was a great experience. The place was situated right in the middle of the Masai Mara with no fences, so you were part of the wilderness. With that said, there were many guards 24/7 protecting you, so even if a herd of elephants, hippos or warthogs showed up next to your tent, you do not have to feel concerned.

Perfect experience in every regard. Highly recommend Eric as the driver-guide. He is patient, knowledgeable and has tailored the experience to fit our needs. We saw the migration river crossing, a live-kill, animals hunting and giving birth, and much more, due to his hard work. Areas of improvement: personally am not a huge fan of buffet dinners, wish there could be a la carte options.

We spent five nights in a beautifully appointed luxury tent overlooking the Mara River. Hippos grunted and snorted throughout the night. Game drives morning and afternoon featured many animals including leopards, lions, cheetahs, wildebeest, hyenas, elephants, zebra, warthogs, jackals, mongoose, crocodiles, Cape buffalo and giraffes. Sundowners each evening on the bank of the Mara River. Our guide Lemaiyan was very personable and an excellent driver with a great sense of humour and an incredible knowledge of animals and birds. Over the course of five days Lemaiyan became a new friend and mate. He was simply the best! The food was five star and all the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. We will be back but only if Lemaiyan is our guide!

We spent our Part 2 of our Honeymoon in Governors Camp and had an AMAZING experience. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and welcoming - they made our stay truly magical. Our guide, Kuluo, was incredible and a god-send. He is an excellent guide and brought us across the Maasai Mara Reserve to see the Wildebeest crossing, various big cats (Lions, Cheetahs and Leopards) and a wide variety of other animals.

This place is truly amazing part of the world The staff are fantastic from the guide who takes you to and from tent to your safari driver Richard and Kimozyia who served us at dinner and breakfast was great and what can i say about Mark our safari Guide,he was amazing and kind and made me and my family feel safe and confident while all the time his knowledge and the way he drove near the animals to give them the up most respect was a joy to watch and be with him for the 3 days . ALL THE STAFF MADE IT SPECIAL but in particular these 3 really made a massive impression on myself and my family of 5 Although its all inclusive there make sure you have enough small notes USD or Kenyan shillings for tips,as they do not at all expect it but they are so grateful and for us a little will go a long way for those guys. Just one world of warning the luggage is 15 kg all in that includes hand luggage that i found out by getting s charge for extra luggage We also visited the Masai Mara village and that is great few hours to spend with them, you can buy some things off them but you need cash We have been lucky enough to travel quite extensively and i rarely write reviews but this place is a truly magical place

The setting and staff at Governors Camp at once help you quickly settle into a luxurious camp setting while also maintaining the aura of being on safari in a truly wild setting. Safari guides are dedicated to giving you the experience you want and let nothing get in their way to show you everything the park has to offer. The food is phenomenal, the bar area is nice for tea or cocktails, and it's a great setting for a large or intimate safari vacation.

The stay is in a campsite with 5-star luxury. You sleep in a safe environment with the sounds of nature, like hippos, lions roaring in the distance, and elephants calling at night. You are served high standards of food with a personalised butler and drinker butler who meets your requirements. You often eat outside with a full panoramic view of the Masai Mara and see the animals moving in the plans. The guides are knowledgeable about the airstrip to the camp, which is only 10 minutes away. The game is some distance as only the Zebra have started to arrive. I suspect in one month the wilderbeast crossing will be a full flow at the camp. You however will be able to see the big 5 at the camp.

You had but to walk outside the tent to see hippos and crocodiles in the river below. Hippos, warthogs and the occasional elephant (we missed it by a day!) would wander through the camp and there was lots of butterfly and bird life. The camp was well staffed to ensure no unintended human/animal interactions. The staff was absolutely amazing and took care to learn the guests names and tent numbers. Lunch on the lawn was a throwback to more elegant times. The tents were roomy and comfortable. I would rate this camp between four and half stars to five stars for two reasons. The food, although good, was not quite up to the rest of the camp. It tended to be over-spiced and oversalted and served luke warm instead of hot. Also, in June (prior to the migration), the drives to see animals were sometimes longish in parts of the conservancy. It did seem to be in a very convenient spot to see the migration, but we were too early for that. Still, we had a marvelous time at this camp.
