The Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast of Ludington

Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast is a delightful way to enjoy a visit to the greater Ludington area. Although the home is about 130 years old, it is well maintained with very comfortable rooms. The common areas are beautifully appointed and comfortable. The highlight of our time there was the delicious breakfast and the hospitable nature of our hosts.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Lamplighter. Dan and Jen are excellent innkeepers. The old style is so well maintained. Our room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed. We always enjoy the morning breakfast. Jen did a very delicious one with eggs and muffin and fruit presentation. A reasonable cost and close to the city beach and the State Park.

Had a lovely stay in this charming B&B. Centrally located but very quiet. Very clean and well kept with a very well prepared breakfast in the morning. Owners Jen and Dan are warm, welcoming and attentive. They are great resources for area activities. Highly recommended!

We can truly say The Lamplighter B&B is the best B&B we have ever stayed in! We have traveled up through the New England states staying in B&Bs and in Northern Michigan. We stayed in The Crosby Room which was beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed. And our stay gets even better because breakfast was absolutely wonderful! Jen is amazing with the beautiful and delicious breakfast she prepared, and we enjoyed Dan’s hospitality making sure we enjoyed our breakfast! Plan a stay at The Lamplighter! We plan to book another stay!

This is an incredible B&B with top-notch hosts within a 5-minute walk to Ludington downtown shops and restaurants. The price is also a portion of what could be charged, which the host explained is intentional in an effort to make these beautiful accommodations available to all kinds of people. Which is unheard of today, pretty much proving what amazing people Dan and Jen the owners and hosts are. I stayed an April weekend with family, we had 3 of the 5 rooms. I had one of the less expensive rooms and I thought it was really cozy, it had all the modern conveniences you want while retaining the charm of the old house with a four-post bed and other nice touches. Don't get me started on breakfast, it blew all of us away both mornings. One day was a quiche and the other I'm blanking on, but delicious local bacon, one day a fancy egg puff thingy, just great all around. Coffee and tea are always available help yourself and during breakfast Dan did a great job serving us. I could keep going and I want to post some pictures when I have more time, the place is beautiful and comfortable both. Just stay here if you can get in, you won't be sorry.

Lovely! We were attracted by the promise of delicious, local food and we were not disappointed! The thyme on the breakfast sandwich was the perfect touch, and the chocolate chip cookies were amazing, plus there's an awesome sauna. A great get away.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Lamplighter Inn in Ludington this past August. Jen & Dan were the perfect hosts. They run a very clean, welcoming inn. Both took time from their busy days visiting with us and sharing things to do and see in the absolutely beautiful area. They truly felt like old friends! Certainly not the least of our memories was the amazing food. The breakfasts were unbelievable! We couldn’t wait to see what would be served each morning. Having never been to Ludington before, the question becomes, where do we stay? We could not have chosen a better place than the Lamp Lighter Bed and Breakfast. Dan and Jen were excellent hosts. They could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. During our short stay, between Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning, we almost became family. The breakfasts were amazing. Everything was freshly made in their kitchen. Several items from their garden were included in their breakfast fare. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Even after we checked out on Friday, Dan and Jen let us leave our vehicle in the lot, while we did some more shopping before departing this lovely little town. We highly recommend this lovely bed and breakfast to anyone staying in this area.

We waited months and months for the Monet room at the Lamplighter Inn to become available. It was well worth waiting for with its relaxed atmosphere, beautifully furnished and totally in keeping with the period of the inn - and with tremendous attention to detail. The room, although small, had everything we needed and was really well thought out. The bathroom deserves special mention. It is spacious, traditionally tiled with a very accessible large shower and built in and comfortable catty corner seat (as well as a hand held shower option) that makes this shower room perfect for anyone with mobility issues. Breakfasts served in the dining room were outstanding, varied, as well as culinarily creative - mostly prepared from scratch. With the unusually warm weather for this time of the year, the breakfast tables were set up outdoors on the patio overlooking the lovely manicured gardens. Jennifer and Dan are the most gracious hosts and we felt so at home. Lamplighter is also in an excellent location convenient walking distance to downtown Ludington and the beaches. Our son and family live in the neighborhood so we'll be returning quite often and look forward to our next time at this very special place.
