Stayed here for 7 days in June 2024, as part of a Jet2 UK package. We had a suite with private pool. The suite was well appointed, with a comfortable continental/double bed, two chaise longue, two desks, three chairs and an outdoor daybed. The room also included two large screen televisions, two air-con units, a fridge, nespresso machine, safe, and a 15ft-ish infinity pool. The room was clean, the furniture in good condition and the air-con very good. The pool was slightly exposed to the hotel driveway but was at a height so bathers weren't overlooked. The safe had no key (which wasn't needed) and the apartment above had a jacuzzi above our bedroom so there was some noise from the water-pump cycling 24-hours a day, otherwise the room was very good. In our experience, the room matched the pictures we had seen before booking. The hotel complex was a pleasant mix of apartments set in a garden, surrounding a communal pool and bar/restaurant area. It was very quiet when we visited and there were always tables and sun loungers available. As advertised, the hotel is adults-only, and when we visited, seemed to be generally populated by adult couples of all ages. We booked on a half-board basis and had breakfast and dinner on several occasions. Breakfast was a continental-style buffet, with occasional Greek additions (loukoumades etc), and was fair to good quality. The coffee machine was not very good so we stuck to using the nespresso machine in our room. Dinner was a five course themed menu, each night based on a region of Greece. This was impressive for a small hotel and we particularly enjoyed the salads. The service at the hotel however, was a bit off. It felt like it was an entirely new team and that they were finding their feet. There was no order to dinner service, with different tables being served at different times and some dishes arriving twice. Drinks taking 15 minutes to arrive, cutlery not being changed after each course (indeed, we were told ”you keep your fork”, after finishing our starters) and a strange, nervous energy noticed amongst the staff. Not a massive problem, but very weird nonetheless, particulalry as the hotel was so quiet. Other reviewers have mentioned the location. The hotel is on a busy road, across the street from a coffee shop and very close to a large dual-carriageway, so there is significant outside noise. There is a sports stadium (and when we visited, a circus), an excellent supermarket, a chemist and a decent beach nearby. However, Amoudara is not a resort area, it is a mixed residential/commerical area and your expectations should take that into account. The hotel is surrounded by scrubland with sidewalks etc in poor condition and there are limited restaurants & attractions nearby. Overall, a decent hotel with some quirks, possibly our experience was due to the early season and new staff bedding in. I would strongly recommend pre-arranging private transfers and/or a hire car if you choose to stay here.
Excellent
