We loved our stay at this historic home. Our hosts Jim and Jan were wonderful. I hated to leave!Breakfast was fantastic and all home made by Jan, but the staff and setting was just as terrific! We will go back and look forward to our next stay in Manistee.

On a spur of the moment decision to visit Manistee we stumbled upon the Dempsey Manor. We could NOT have been happier with our find! Jan the Innkeeper was sweet as can be and very knowledgeable on the area and the history of the home. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The rooms and common areas were so clean. All of the staff that we met were so friendly and attentive. There is so much history with this property and the town. The location is great and within walking distance to the downtown restaurants and shops. We could not have been happier and look forward to our next visit to the Dempsey Manor. A++ property!

We had not stayed at a B and B prior to this but all we can say is WOW! The home is magnificent, the art and other period pieces are between mesmerizing and stunning. Take your time and it is visual sensory overload-in a good way. Then there is the lady who runs the home named Jan. She is professional, cordial and accommodating. We are not needy customers but when we did to finish our breakfast the first day she was seriously let down and asked what we wanted to eat for our remaining days and she followed through. What a sweet person. She works hard to create a "space of love" and succeeds if your eyes and heart are open to it.

A museum-like interior with extensive 19th century collection of furniture and arts. Owner offers tours providing details about the house and collection. Our individual room was gorgeous and comfortable, with modernized spacious bathroom. There is no TV (which was fine for us) but had strong wifi connection. House offers books, board games, and snacks. Located in a neighborhood of large houses rich in history of the lumber baron days. The only warning is the manor has three stories accessible by stairs only - no elevator or exterior ramp. Morning breakfast was incredible, based on recipes consistent with the period of the late 19th century. Best of all was the conversation with the owners, which expanded my breakfast well beyond clearing of the breakfast table! Jim and Jan were perfect hosts, and return trips will be forthcoming!

This B&B is fabulous! Jan is a gracious hostess and a wonderful chef. The breakfasts were delicious and the atmosphere prompted great conversation with the other guests. We loved talking to Jim and seeing all his photos of the house and old Manistee. The rooms were spacious and the beds and pillows were comfortable. We loved the original claw foot tub. We spent our spare time in the beautiful conservatory. An excellent place to relax with a cup of tea and read. The house is within easy walking distance to downtown and many other historic homes and buildings such as the Ramsdell Theater and Guardian Angles Church. We will definitely stay here again!!

To stay here is residing in a Victorian Museum. A lot to look at and enjoy. Plenty of books to read (if you don't bring your own) and comfortable places to sit and relax. The rooms are authentically Victorian and very comfortable. I and my wife slept well. The breakfasts are to die for and are filling enough to last until dinner in the evening. Our second trip this month had us as the only guests after the holiday rush. Jan is an amazing conversationalist and sat with us at breakfast and just engaged us in conversation. She is a wonderful person with whom to become friends. We plan to be back at some point in the future.
