Amazing experience. Wonderful location. Luxury accommodation. Great food. Friendly staff. Incredible guides. Almost all the staff are Masai, which is wonderful. The safaris are private for your group, so you can see the things you want. Can't recommend it enough. My brother has been there 5 times, he enjoys it so much!

An absolutely amazing place!! Family owned and operated and kid friendly. The complete luxury Safari experience!! This place has something for everyone. The food is amazing, the drinks are plentiful and the vibe is amazing. We traveled from the U. S. And would travel back each year. This place sits in the middle of a nature conservancy with abundant wildlife on all sides. Justin and his wife Nadia sometimes live on the property and are amazing hosts. This place is wonderful to visit with your family or fitness. The staff is amazing and super friendly. We loved our time here. 10/10!!!

Spirit of the Maasai Mara will be the lodge I bring my family and friends to for years to come every time I return to the Maasai Mara. As a student researcher with the Mara Siana Conservancy, my research partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Spirit of the Maasai Mara. We met Justin, the owner, who not only made us feel at home immediately but also shared the lodge's rich history and journey to where it is today. After staying at Spirit of the Maasai Mara, I can say Spirit truly sets the standard for ecotourism-based lodges. It is deeply involved in conservation efforts as the lodge actively contributes to the success of the Mara Siana Conservancy. The lodge also practices community-based employment, hiring local staff and sourcing food locally, much of it grown within the lodge itself. The lodge has approximately 20 private rooms. Meaning it is a far more intimate and meaningful experience since it fosters a close-knit atmosphere not only among your own travel companions but also with other fellow travelers and the staff. Unlike the larger, more commercial lodges that dominate the area, Spirit is unique in that it remains to capture the essence of what a true safari should be. From the wonderful hot water bottle that's left in your bed before sleep, to the shukas provided in your room for you to be cozy during the sundowner, to the nearly perfect porch for morning yoga.... I cannot recommend Spirit of the Maasai Mara enough. And overall, the lodge truly embodies the Spirit of the Maasai Mara. Thank you Spirit of the Maasai Mara for an amazing stay and I can't wait to come back!

This wonderful lodge is nestled against a side of a hill with the most magical views. It all begins with a wonderful welcome from staff who become like family. The rooms are spacious and luxurious and share the most wonderful of views. The staff cannot do enough for you. The meals are amazing. The Masai staff are keen to share their personal experiences and their culture. A visit to the local village is a must. Our guide Mike was incredibly patient and knowledgable and every day out whether in the national park or the conservancy brought new experiences. It’s a very special place.

I first visited Spirit in March 23 and fell in love with the place so as soon as I got home I booked another trip. This time I travelled with my wife and two friends and in short we had a trip of a lifetime. The setting, the lodge, the service and of course the Masai Mara reserve are all absolutely outstanding and come together to create a truly special package. I could go on and on about how amazing everything is but instead of writing a flowery review (see my post in March!) here's some pertinent points which may or may not help anyone thinking of visiting Spirit of the Masai Mara; Travel - Jane at Spirit organised all our travel. You can travel by road from Nairobi but this is a five hour trip. We took the short flight (45 mins) from Wilson Airport into Keekorok airstrip which is great fun, the views of the Mara when you come into land are absolutely sensational. We were met by Laban, our fantastic guide for the week, who drove us the short distance (40 mins) to the lodge. Accommodation - Cottage for x2 persons. Great space with luxury feel. Daily laundry as part of the price means you don't have to pack many items of clothing. Air con in the rooms a big bonus. Hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash included. Important to know as this cuts down on items needed (Wilson-Mara flights only allow 15kg total including hand carry). Safety - No fences at Spirit. Escorts to and from accommodation ensure you're kept safe from the animals. We made multiple trips to the Mara and always felt very comfortable whether inside the reserve or visiting the local villages. Food - Lodge is a great setting for dining. Lovely outside area. Food is top notch and SOTMM catered for my wife who is gluten free. Lots of variety and the staff couldn't be more helpful with requests etc. Lodge - As well as an excellent setting for dining the swimming pool area is a relaxing place to spend a few hours sunbathing, watching the animals at the water hole or listening to the birdlife. Safari - Spirit is set within its own conservancy which offers some great game viewing. There are no fences between it and the Mara so you'll find everything here that you find in the main reserve indeed, we spotted a leopard inside the conservancy on our 2nd day. It's 20 minutes from the lodge to the Mara reserve gate and we visited the reserve daily with our guide. Laban was Mr. Fantastic. His knowledge and expertise were priceless. Importantly for me he understood photography and the need to position us correctly for the best shot. The safari vehicle is open sided and very comfortable unlike a lot of the other vehicles being used by other lodges and operators. Not everyone will appreciate Wifi in the vehicle but this was a great bonus for the four of us who needed to keep in touch with teenagers at home. Another brilliant feature is having charging ports available which meant I was never stressed about running out of batteries for my camera. Breakfast/Lunch/Dr

I don't have the right words to express our gratitude for the time we spent at The Spirit of the Masai Mara. Everything from the sales and reservations team to the team at SOTMM was exceptional. The rooms are great, with adequate space, a separate sitting area, comfortable bed, good tub and shower facility with hot water 24/7. The general areas like the dining area and pool have a great view. The food and drinks were awesome. Kudos to the chefs. The nature walk and game drives made the trip worth while. Special thanks to Simon, Samuel, Laban, Frank, Ben and Raphael. The Kamau's had a fantastic time. We shall be back with the kids
