Stayed for 3 hours. Lunch took 1.5 hours to prepare. Light bulbs in the room don't work and something is dripping on the head in the toilet... Probably condensate from the central air conditioner. The reception will not get through the first time, never. Tried 3 times. Came 4 times for beach towels. The first time at 18 o'clock, the pool is open until 20 decided to freshen up, but towels are no longer issued. The second time at 9 am there was no one there, then in the afternoon 2 times they say they ran out)). The best thing there is a bar, but it does not cost 50 thousand per night, from the word at all. Service like a troika, or even worse. I do not recommend.

Lovely - more options on restaurants would be great

Positives : Staff were ALWAYS a pleasure to deal with Great facilities we loved our room and the choice of restaurants and bars Negatives : The bacon from the buffet can be used in plastic toy making. Not up to scratch with the rest of the facility The Boma night was a disapointment. Had one rum then got told they ran out. The rest of the food at the Boma was also not what I expected. I thought they were going to do a barbeque right there which did not happen. Also the food on offer I felt they were taking shortcuts. The Spa Treatment : We took our first free massage which was a pleasure. My partner mentioned it is probably one of the best she has ever received. However the prices after that are far past exhorbitant (6000+RP). To put that into perspective our Caterman trip which was a whole day out, included transfer + food + drink was only 4000RP. Bit difficult to reconcile the two. Also the music from the Bar in the evenings really does penetrate through our rooms. I could only fall asleep once that had stopped.

It was rainy and windy but good overall. The heated pool helped a lot. They need to improve the menu and service.

It was our first time in Mauritius and we had a fabulous time. The staff were amazing - incredibly friendly and helpful - and the setting is delightful. We loved it and look forward to going back.

All the staff were very helpful and very attentive Made the stay personal and welcoming. Both of us being vegetarian all the staff made every effort to make sure that we were catered for which ever restaurant we choose. The Indian restaurant Zafarani was really excellent the Chef Harjit Singh was fantastic the meals served were excellent, but he was really attentive came out to check that everyone was happy with the quality of the meal and if there was anything he could do to Make their meal more personal and to their needs. For us he made meals of menu with the seasoning to our needs and when we’re leaving made as a takeout without us asking. Would recommend the resort Late checkout or the facilities of a shower room we choose the shower room as there was only a few hours from checking out and pick up for our return the shower room was clean

We’ve recently returned from a 10 day holiday in Mauritius with our two kids, aged 12 and 13 (organised by Sarah Lake Holidays who I would highly recommend), where we spent the first 4 nights at the Awali, and then the last 5 nights at the Trou Beachcomber. We weren’t actually going to stay at the Awali but due to have two keen golfers in the family Sarah had recommended the resort. From the moment we arrived we were blown away, mainly due to the fact we had booked the 3 bed villa which is superb. It’s the only one in the resort and sits really nicely between the Telfair and the Awali. More on the villa in a mo! Arrival and check in was smooth, we went straight to lunch and then went to our room. The villa is superb. It has two huge double bedrooms and then also a kids room with twin beds, a lovely living area and the best bit, a heated pool (which you do need in August) and the most wonderful setting right on the beach. It also comes with a butler, Alex, who we all agreed was one of the nicest people we have ever met. This was a unique experience for us having never done this before. Alex made sure we had all our dinner reservations sorted, made us cocktails and drinks through the day with pre-dinner canapés, organised trips, took the boys to golf, the kids fishing, basically anything we wanted. When we waved goodbye to him at the end of our time at the Awali we all had a tear in our eyes! What a lovely and helpful person, and we really enjoyed hearing about his life and his kids. He told me his job was to never say ‘no’ and he certainly delivered on that front! In terms of the other amenities, the heated pool in the villa was amazing and we spent hours in there. The other pools are not heated but seemed to be well used. One is a kids pool and one is an adult pool. You can snorkel right off the beach. There is no reef as such but we saw lion fish, star fish and lots of interesting stuff and was fun to do! You can paddle board, kayak, peddalo etc all in the AI package (I think we were on the premium AI). The fishing was fun too! We also went to the local shell museum. We stayed the following 5 days at Trou aux Biches and there was definitely more to do there, just as a comparison. We didn’t go out and about as we felt we wanted to make the most of the resort. In terms of dining, we loved dining at C Beach (this is the only one included from Telfair) and the golf club for dinner was a special experience! There is the Coco Shack for drinks during the day and the Zanzibar had entertainment in the evenings. I would say Trou Beachcomber food options were much better overall in terms of the buffet experience. Do book restaurants in advance if you don’t want to go to the buffet every evening. August weather is a bit mixed so bring a warm jacket for the evening and mossie repellant. The golf was apparently amazing in particular La Reserva. The boys played both courses that are close. Sunsets were incredible too and lots of opportunit
