Sheene Mill

When we arrived we were asked to wait for our room to be ready. We therefore went onto the outside area. Wet seat cushions had been stacked up, but it had been a lovely sunny day. So, I placed them into the sun to dry. A member of staff had been on his phone texting, but the thought hadn't crossed his mind to put them out to dry. The bedroom was tired. Wallpaper missing where plugs and radiators had been previously fitted. Ceiling dirty and light removed but not painted over. Making coffee is done in the wardrobe. No fridge. We spent 2 nights. Came back from a day out, and room service had not been carried out. Dirty coffee cups, no coffee/milk replaced. No clean towels. Bed not made. When we enquired why our room hadn't been serviced, the staff said they only did it every 2 days. When we said we'd like our coffee cups washed and towels changed. He did it, but like he was doing us a favour. We said it was basic hotel standards not being met. Very disappointed. Like being run by staff who don't know how to run a hotel. Run down. Plastic flowers...and they are supposed to do weddings! Shame, I expect in previous days this was a nice hotel. But being run as cheap as possible. NO FINESSE. Breakfast was extra £15.

£6500 - for a couple of hours for a funeral wake. £300 for the tea and coffee ‘station’ to make it yourself! This was the quote the new owners gave a lady in the village. They would make that on bar takings! Disgusting. I will not be recommending.

Had a lovely meal last night with friends, very plentiful unlike what I remember from meals I've had there in the past. You don't go home wanting to eat something else. My very fat fillet steak was the most tender steak I have ever had anywhere! Plenty of mash, large whole flat mushroom , and a whole large tomato, none of that small half a tomato that most places seem to give you nowadays. Staff were very nice. And lovely venue to sit and have a drink by the river on a warm evening. Will definitely go more often now.

Booked restaurant on line and mentioned it was a 50 th birthday Arrived and shown to table Long wait for any offer of a drink and a child’s menu was not given Order placed and the child did not require any street but we did They bought half of her main course before our starters and when we queried it they said we will bring fed fries At 7.50 there were very expensive so she ate her food before we got our main course My fillet steak was overcooked and the bacon in the burger was undercooked We had to ask for more drinks as was not offered Overall disappointing as the service was very slow and Ned’s to be address as there was only 4 tables a 12% service was added too Would not return

Some friends of mine gathered from Manchester and Cromer after a stressful week to celebrate my birthday at Sheene Mill and fell in love with the place instantly. The setting is idyllic, the food is amazing, the staff are friendly, professional and attentive. The beds are incredibly comfy, one of my friends was woken by the sounds of ducks, about which they were delighted. All in all it was a memorable experience, we were made to feel very welcome and had a great time. We are planning another meet up there again soon, only this time there will be more of us. What a great place to relax and drink in the countryside. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Wedding venue was terrible. Food was terrible, waitresses didn’t know what day it was, wrong food came out, my uncle ordered vegetarian and got bacon mixed in with his food. Just the venue had nothing to answer for, words didn’t really show much. I wouldn’t recommend these for weddings.

Thought we would try as being promoted by new signage and local. Last minute booked online, not busy. Friendly welcome. Prompt service. Food was ok, I had the chicken curry, my partner had steak, not overly expensive. Glass of wine £15.50 which I thought was expensive. They also add 12% service charge. Venue is tired. Average, sorry probably won’t revisit.

We visited Sheene Mill as it has recently re-opened the restaurant and bar (so now not just a specific wedding venue). We were a party of 12. The food was excellent and a great menu. The service was brilliant - very friendly and so accommodating. A beautiful setting....so special. We had such a fun evening with our friends. Would definitely recommend and will visit again soon.

Our Afternoon Tea experience was disappointing. We were served a pot of tea, which once it had brewed was cold and had to be replaced, but there was no top up after that. The bread for the sandwiches was a little dry, but the mini quiche, sausage roll and sweet treats were lovely. We were served with large pots of jam and whipped (not clotted) cream with 2 very small scones which were rock hard. These were replaced but were more like biscuits than scones. The final disappointment was being asked to pay an extra £2 per person as the price had gone up since we had bought our voucher. We will not be going back and would advise others to look elsewhere.
