Mountain View Hotels in Hatsukaichi

Loved this hotel. Right next to ferry, so we stayed on Miyajima Island as late as we could, before heading to the ferry and hotel. Get off ferry and the hotel is about a 3 min walk. We had a great view of the sea. A little space inside rooms. Friendly staff. Own bathroom.

Good. As other reviews, it was a facility that felt a little old, but it was a stable and safe facility, and there was no mistake. The view is good, but if it is on the 3rd floor in the ocean view room, there is a disappointment because the ceiling on the 2nd floor is about 10 meters in front of the room. When I told him at the front desk at check-in, ”This is ○○ (my name) booked at Trip.com,” the expression of the veteran female staff became a little steep. And if it is another hotel, he immediately finds my name from the guest list, saying ”Yes, ○○”, but he does not respond like that. ”First, please fill in your name here.” It felt as if I was told, ”I'm in trouble if I call my name, please write my name on this paper, that's how our hotel is doing.” (There may be a story that my feelings are damaged, but it was true that the expressions of the staff became steep). It was a little disappointing. The night cruise was good.

I highly recommend this ryokan for the exceptional experience including great food, staff & room. My room was a traditional ryokan room with tatami matts but with traditional mattresses. It overlooked the the pedestrian street but was very quiet at night since most tourists visit Miyajima as a daytrip. The staff was gracious enough to setup a futon for me on the tatami matt so that I could sleep traditional Japanese style. Haruka at the front desk was amazing. She speaks limited English but enough to communicate with. She wrote me a very sweet handwritten note that I will keep forever when I asked where I could buy a yukata robe. I had asked her where I could purchase a yukata (traditional Japanese robe). The presentation of the dinner was amazing and worth it. The on-site onsen was was great and was usually all to myself. It has one indoor pool along with a small one on the outdoor deck that overlooks the bay and torii gate. Upon checkout, Haruka escorted me out which I believe is typical of a ryokan. It was sad to leave because of how memorable the stay was! The ryokan was expensive but worth it for the experience. I can't imagine visiting Miyajima only as a day trip. It would be too rushed as there's plenty to do for 2 days. Must sees are the torii gate along with the shrine surrounding it, taking the ropeway up to Mt. Misen (the top of the mountain is about a 20-30 minute steep hike from the end of the ropeway but I recommend it), and finally definitely do not miss Daishoin shrine which was truly amazing. Recommend avoiding Saturday & Sundays as it's very, very crowded.

I have never before walked into a hotel room and refused to leave because of the view but I did at this beautiful ryokan. Jukeiso is something special, set on the hill next to the famous O-Torii gate on the island. We were met at the ferry terminal and taken through the town to the ryokan, where we were met by more wonderfully attentive staff who gave us the warmest of welcomes and insisted on taking our bags, something I always feel guilty about. While we checked in, one member of staff even cleaned the wheels of our suitcase, which I'd say goes above and beyond. We were shown up to our room and we were quite blown away. The room had windows on two sides looking on to the bay where the O-Torii gate is. The room itself was a traditional Japanese one with tatami mats in the main room and futons which were laid out for us when we went for dinner. This being Japan, there were of course all modern conveniences including charging points, adaptors, spotlessly clean facilities, a TV and small kitchen area but the main draw was the stupendous view. We were given tea and invited to settle in and I didn't move until the evening. I just sat in the window looking at the view. The ryokan is located right in the town centre, down a flight of stairs. It is also about a five minute walk from the O-Torii gate. In the evening, we went down for dinner. I am a vegan and my wife had advised them of this. In response they had made clear that they were very happy to cater for me, which they did with aplomb. We were treated to a seven course meal which, for most residents was very heavily based around fish and seafood, with some of the area's famous oysters served as a starter. I was given equivalent dishes throughout and thoroughly enjoyed them all, although we were given so much that I was unable to finish my meal. The staff were attentive and helpful throughout. My only comment on their wonderful service is that they might have helped us poor foreigners with a description of the delicious food we were served. As with many traditional guest houses in Japan, the ryokan had a communal bathing area and an outdoor onsen which could be booked for free for half an hour. My wife enjoyed this on her own as I didn't want to rush her. Beautiful yucata were provided for bathers to wear after their relaxation time. We returned to our room to find that the futons had been laid out and we spent much of the evening simply sitting at the window before going to sleep. In the morning, we were able to get up and down to the O-Torii gate before all the tourists had arrived, which was a real treat. Breakfast was once again excellent with my wife and son enjoying a traditional one which, once again, was very fish and seafood dependent. As the unadventurous type - and a vegan - I had a traditional European breakfast of tea, toast, fruit and a small salad, which was just what I wanted. Sakuraya in Miyajima is a remarkable ryokan that truly captures the essence of Japanese hospitality. The highlight of my stay was the spacious Japanese-style room with a mesmerizing sea view. The traditional decor and ambiance added to the authentic experience, making me feel like I had stepped back in time. The location was superb, allowing easy access to Miyajima's attractions. The clean and well-maintained room provided a sense of tranquility and comfort. The simple yet delicious $5 breakfast consisting of bread, butter, jam, egg, fruits, and fresh juice was a delightful way to start each day. While the basement onsen had a slightly eerie atmosphere, it was immaculately clean, and the rejuvenating experience made it worthwhile. Overall, Sakuraya offers a memorable ryokan experience, combining cultural immersion, comfort, and a touch of adventure

If you ca n’t find the hotel name, you can see the photo below. After the hem ferry, let the hotel call the hotel at the information desk. It will send a car to pick you up. The neighborhood is large, with an indoor balcony, the bathroom is separated from the wet and dry, facing the sea, and the facilities are a bit dated. Dinner is the kind of kaiseki that is scheduled in the restaurant in advance, but each dish is super mini. Even the plate is not as big as a woman's palm. The dishes are as small as half a mouthful and the taste is not enough. It ’s only half a bowl of miso soup to fill up with the last bowl of rice. Girls are okay, men are not full. Fortunately, a small shop in the lobby has snacks and instant noodles, but it ’s full because there ’s no shop. Breakfast seems better than dinner. There is a small soup to make.

Although there was no mention on the official website, smoking is allowed on the terrace of the room. I don't like the smell of cigarettes, and this time I was traveling with my child, so when I found out that smoking was allowed, I thought about canceling, but it was already the time when a cancellation fee would be charged, so I gave up. When I was bathing in the open-air bath on the terrace, the smell of cigarette smoke from the neighboring room's terrace was indescribably disgusting. (The fact that you can smoke on the terrace should be clearly stated on your website, etc.) Luckily, the smell of cigarettes was only once, and after that I was able to enjoy the bath comfortably. The open-air bath in the room is very comfortable. The view of the sea during the daytime is also wonderful, but it was nice to take a bath in the middle of the night while looking at the stars. The public bath was good, but I was worried about the smell of the hot water, probably because of the circulation. I also enjoyed the food at the buffet. The live kitchen steak was delicious and the sashimi was fresh. There was an Onomichi ramen corner at night and an udon corner in the morning. The pajamas (black in-house wear) are only one size for adults and not for children, so I put on only the tops like a dress, but I think some people should bring their own. It seems that the number of yukata for children is small. I would like to stay again if there is no smoking on the terrace.
