Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans Downtown (French Quarter Area)

Great room, staff was polite and allowed me to leave my bags on the luggage area while I couldn't check in.

The room was enormous! I was sharing with my parents and the 2 Queen room was so spacious, it met our needs perfectly. The location was ideal, close enough to Bourbon Street for it to be easily accessible, far enough to not be disturbed by it. Valet parking was a little slow on arrival, however, there rest of the time the service was prompt.

Excellent location and services. I love it.

Parking for check in was hard. There are a few spaces in front for valet. Valet parking worked great once you could park there. The hotel is clean, breakfast was good. Pull out bed was comfortable.

New Orleans near Canal and Bourbon is very busy and congested and to have a parking garage within steps was so nice. I was able to get in and out of the area quickly and away from the congestion with no issues. The staff were so nice and so attentive. Rooms were very clean! A CVS, Walgreens and convenient stores are within walking distance. You are literally about a 5 minute walk to Bourbon St and Canal. Workout area is on the 14 th floor. They have cables, dumbbells, and treadmills. Only reason I did not give 5 stars was because the rooms are a little dated. I would recommend staying here for your visit to Louisiana.

Our stay was closer to a 3.5. First of all, the hotel is in a great location. It is within walking distance of the French Quarter. As with everywhere in New Orleans, you just have to be cautious when you’re out and about. I did not feel more unsafe around the hotel. People leave you alone if you do the same. You will get the occasional request for money. The check-in staff was okay. I did not feel welcomed nor did I feel they were rude. There really was no explanation as to hotel amenities. If you asked a question, they will answer. The valet were really polite and welcomed us. I felt safe leaving our car. I will warn that the price per night is not exactly favorable at $44 a day, but I understood that when I booked the hotel. There is parking lot that has in and out privileges, but it is not exactly close to the hotel. It will take 10 minutes to get your car, but the valet let us know that when we arrived. The manager on duty did check up on us via text, which I thought was great customer service. This hotel needs updating. The elevators were odd. We always had to step up a little to get in. And the doors closed on members of our party when trying to enter the elevator. Other than going down to the first floor, you need your room key. It was a little annoying when we were getting breakfast on the 4th floor. Most of the time we had secured our key. However, it made me feel safer. The room was fairly clean. The carpet had some stains. The two-queen room was very spacious. It had fridge and microwave, as well as a safe. The desk was very convenient. The number of plugs in the room was very nice, until we tried them. One out of any two outlets did not work or was loose. The layout of the room was great. There was plenty of space for our luggage and things. The beds were a little too soft for our liking. The pillows went flat quite a bit. The bathroom was a challenge. There was plenty of space to put our things. However, there were only two hooks to hang towels. We ended up hanging towels in the closet and on the coat hooks near the room door. We had such a hard time with the shower and keeping the water in the shower. We ended up with either a puddle on the floor or a really wet floor towel. We tried to close the curtain all the way to no avail. The door hinge was rusty. The toilet paper was little far away from the toilet, lending itself to wasting paper. Also, they clean the room every other day, which I was okay with. The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast. The coffee was strong. The meats and potatoes were really good. The family enjoyed the eggs and waffle maker. And their selection of carbs was excellent. Other beverage selections were great. The staff were nice. As someone who works for a company that owns hotels, I would stay in this hotel again if I get another good deal. The location is what really reeled me in. Walk across Canal, and you are on Bourbon St.

The location is good; it's a two block walk to Canal street, then across Canal to the French Quarter. Our room was large and the bathroom offered plenty of horizontal space by the sink. But, there were issues. First, the room was on the 6th floor, despite the fact that my HHonors iamb profile specifies a preference for a high floor. (This hotel has 13 floors, so 6 isn't even in the upper half of the hotel.) This resulted in more street noise. Second, there were maintenance issues with the room. See the attached photos that show tears in the ottoman and drips from the ceiling-mounted A/C. The tears were obvious so housekeeping ought have reported them. If they did, management didn't feel it was necessary to address this issue.Third, the front desk failed to inform us that a relative had left a package for u the first evening of our stay. As a result we purchased a 6-pack of soda, needlessly, the next morning! So, I can't really recommend this property.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is surronded by homeless people. The front desk crew was rude and ghetto in their demeanor.The lobby smelled like insecticide. The king room was very small and only had one straightback chair. We had to sit on our bed to have any comfort while in our room. The bathroom was tiny. There was no pen or paper or tissue in the room. When the front desk was contacted they were very short and seemed unconcerned. The furniture in the lobby was soiled and unclean with stains. The carpet was dirty and in need of cleaning. We checked into another hotel in order to have a clean relaxing room. The pictures online are deceptive. This hotel is nothing like the pictures.

Everything was great the rooms were nice & clean. The service was great. The only thing that bothered me was the air conditioning was really loud, whenever it’s comes on it’s really loud. Other than that everything else was awesome.
