My wife and I booked the Nikko Station Hotel II for April 13 - 15 as a non refundable reservation. This week, the US State Dept issued a Level 4 warning for all US citizens to avoid international travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In spite of their normal policy, the Nikko Station Hotel II made an exception due to the COVID-19 pandemic and issued a full refund. We will reschedule our trip to Japan after the pandemic passes and WILL DEFINITELY rebook at the Nikko Station Hotel II, as they have shown excellent customer service in a difficult time!

The hotel is very beautiful - ambiance was great, room was great, staff were excellent. The very clean common kitchen with complimentary coffee, tea, and miso soup was awesome and a boon to the travel weary. We could warm our food in the microwave and conventional ovens. The hotel also offered artisanal bread, pizza etc. for purchase, which could be reheated or baked in the ovens. Altogether a great hotel but it was far from the main area near the train station where most of the restaurants and convenience stores were.

The hotel is more like a museum :). You can admire every room and every thing :) You will see a table lamp at the reception, which has been standing there since 1907, in the lobby you will see photographs of people who stayed at this hotel - Indira Gandhi, Eleanor Roosevelt, Robert Koch, Edward Prince of Wales and many other. The restaurant has very beautiful dishes. And the table for dinner was set using 11 cutlery :) The staff is very attentive and polite. I would especially like to thank Sabita for her help. The room itself is fairly basic (but not modern) the beds are very comfortable and the bathroom has everything you need for a short stay. Rooms are not cleaned daily and towels are not changed unless specifically requested. The location of the hotel is very convenient, a three-minute walk from Nikko Park - UNESCO heritage. Currently, one wing of the hotel is being renovated.

Having only just arrived a few days earlier in Japan - this was our first experience of a ryokan . We didn’t know what to expect but it turned out to be a fantastic experience. From choosing our own Kimono to wear around the hotel to our beautiful spacious room with wonderful views of the autumn trees behind, every detail had been thought about. The onsen was wonderful with a pool. Inside and outside. We had a private dining room where we were served the most incredible meals in beautiful Japanese ceramics of all kinds of shapes and sizes. We were attended to by the Chun, a young Vietnamese girl who was just charming, she couldn’t do enough for us and tried so hard with her English - she really made our stay.. this ryokan is also right opposite the shrines , so its a great location and right on the bus route for getting further into the hills. We really recommend this place.

This hotel is located near Nikko Kinugawa Onsen Station. The hotel environment, service, food are very good, and the hotel's own hot spring is also very good! Mainly very quiet, all local Japanese come to play! Especially the hotel's Chinese service staff, Miss Yang, is very attentive and will often remind us whether to order dinner. Remember that if you book a hotel like Kinugawa, you must order dinner. The restaurants around the hotel are closed early! Or just go back to the hotel after eating at Nikko Station. That must be finished before 17:00! In addition, the breakfast was generous!
A little dissatisfied is that the position of Ctrip's station on the train station is 600 meters straight from the hotel, but whether it's more than walking or taking a car! Although this is a straight distance, I think at least the actual distance must be marked, and the actual distance that humans can ride or walk. Because the linear distance of the mark cannot be reached directly!

I stayed with my family in December 2021. I liked it too much after a long time, so I repeated my reservation in March. ■ Meals The meals can be selected as ”buffet style”, ”half private room dining room” and ”room meal”, but definitely ”buffet style” is recommended. I thought it would be a pretty delicious part compared to the live kitchen, the freshly fried tenkara and the buffet of the common hotel. This level is not too much to say the same class as the ”hanari” of Lake Hakone, ashinoko. The vegetables that tend to be pulled out of this hand are delicious and exciting. In addition, for families with small children, there is a half-private room zashiki in the buffet venue, and there is a child menu in ”1 lower position than adults” so that small children can take it by themselves Anyway, I was impressed that I was worried about 1 rank 2 rank compared to the hotel in the same price range. Then the buffet alcohol was rich in variety and was free to drink at + 1,500 yen. When I chose a little early 17 o'clock, please eat at night. And I received several tickets for the ramen shop opposite the hotel. ■ Facility barrier free etc. I think there is no problem, but I feel a little old (very beautiful) with the toilet on each floor. The size and speed of the elevator are not particularly dissatisfied. ■ Onsen Indoor and Outdoor hot water were very good. I think it is a hot water without any particular feature, but the open-air bath while watching the snow was usually pleasant. ■ Other weekends? Saturday? It seems to be limited, but fireworks rose right behind the hotel. I thought I was working very hard while the customer was decreasing in the corona. I thought Kinugawa had been lonely, but I suddenly wanted to support it.
Dinner is really worth it. Very delicious. The quality of dinner, eating outside, it is estimated that at least 60 knives per person. So I think half of the room rate is very cost-effective. The hot spring is a bit small, and it may be three people outside at most. The room is generally comfortable, because the wall of the room is very thin, most of the tenants have been very restrained, there will be sound. I hope that people who stay can be a little more empathetic. This hotel is not suitable for children. There is nothing to say in the location, excellent.
The Rakuten STAY Motel Nikko Kinugawa is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. Visitors to Nikko will find that the Rakuten STAY Motel Nikko Kinugawa is a fantastic accommodation choice. The hotel is conveniently located a short 700m drive from Kinugawaonsen Station. This hotel is located near many of Nikko's attractions including 東武ワールドスクウェア 現代日本ゾーン, Nikkoshiri Fujiwara Library and Kinutanoyu (Ashiyu). This hotel makes a great place to kick back and relax after a long day of sightseeing. This Nikko hotel provides parking on site.

It's about 10 minutes walk from the station.
The famous suspension bridge is close, it is very beautiful, the facilities are new, and I thought that the semi-open-air bath was good!
I was glad to wash it because I had a washing machine!
I thought it would be easy to party because there was a rice cooker and a barbecue stove .

Really nice room with an epic view of the lake and enough space for everything. Meals are wonderful and abundant and a seasonal selection each day Perfect place to stay if you are planning to explore okunikko area or to cycle around the lake, there are also restaurants nearby for lunch. The public bath is very pleasant with an outdoor spring to soak in while enjoying an open sky. Found out there was a shuttle bus back to tobu-nikko station setting off at 11am from the hotel after speaking to a kind staff member, Diane. Do make reservations for the shuttle beforehand at the reception if you plan to take this as well. Rental bikes available at the Nikko natural history museum which is a 10min walk from the hotel

This is my third trip/adventure to Japan. I would say as a solo traveler this has to be one of the very best places I have ever stayed in when travelling around Japan. I came to Nikko np to explore the vast array of hiking trails, all of which I did, had breathtaking views and a poetic, truly majestic Japanese feel to them. I rented a car from Nasushiobara (Shinkansen) and drove across to Kinugawa. On arrival I was greeted by a host of the hotel staff, welcoming me and helping me with parking and my bags. I checked in with ease and with some broken English and Japanese on my part was led to a beautiful traditional Japanese style room overlooking the river. The service throughout was world class and made me feel both very comfortable, at home, but also special. I stayed 3 nights with half board (breakfast and dinner), both truly amazing and served with grace and politeness. On the first evening’s dinner one of the serving staff took the time to speak with me and allowed me to share some of my recent experiences/photos etc whilst preparing dinner - this was most welcome, especially as I had been travelling alone for over a week. The location of the onsen hotel is about 60 mins drive to some of the most sought after walks in the np. Very easy to access by car and excellent roads. The accommodation itself is a mix between very traditional Japanese resort and original/boutique Ryokan. The private and public onsen’s are fantastic and a well deserved rest-bite after a long days hiking! Having been to some of the most popular ryokan’s in Japan; Iwaso, Claska etc, this came as a very nice surprise and at an affordable rate without any compromise. If in the area, I would highly recommend staying…

Outstanding
LLimZoePension was cosy, clean and well equipped. Bath includes onsen. breakfast and dinner can be arranged with the host for a reasonable charge. It is quite a walk from the bus stop with rather uneven road if you have wheeled luggage. Owner was nice to give us a ride out (at her convenience) to the bus stop. View from room of Mt nantai is lovely and it is convenient to visit the waterfalls...especially yudaki which was the best in my opinion.
BBuleifufuSeeing that the bus on the Nikko Dongzhao Palace line has a stop that is the name of the hotel, I booked it. The breakfast and dinner are rich and delicious. The open-air bath and sauna in the large bath are also very comfortable. Although the room is a bit old, the heating is hot every day when entering. There is also a hot water bottle where you can drink hot tea at any time. The staff is very caring and will communicate in simple English. For example, you need to make a bed after dinner, you can call to talk, guide the seat for breakfast and explain the ingredients, etc. The grandparents who sent the meal are also very friendly. The hotel's pick-up station needs to be reserved in advance, and it can be sent to Tobu Nikko-JR Nikko Station in the morning. It needs to be reserved with the front desk in advance. It is a warm and lovely Japanese-style hot spring hotel experience.
GGuest UserThe room was smaller than I expected. The brown rice tea in the room was fragrant and delicious, but is that all? The inside of the hotel was carefully cleaned, there was a microwave oven and a relaxation room, and everything we needed was there. ”I'm not a member, so I'm not familiar with the system, but it seems that there are rooms with kitchenettes.” Rather than the hotel here, the Kinugawa Onsen station and the area around the hotel are too desolate. Sometimes it's closed and the fun is thin. In front of Kinugawa Onsen Station, all the restaurants are closed at 5:00 in the evening, and if you want to shop, there is only Lawson, which is about a 6-minute walk away. Compared to Nikko Station, it is surprisingly inconvenient. I don't think I'll go again... The dinner buffet was delicious, and if it were a hotel dinner, it wouldn't be expensive, but Kinugawa Onsen itself is too lonely, which is a shame. Maybe it's because I visited out of season. During the fall foliage and fresh green season, you can choose various activities and sightseeing.
Hhappy-cThe room is quite large, the beds are all large double beds, the tables, chairs and sofas are also very good, there are also projectors and TVs, the kitchen is also fully equipped, including a microwave, induction cooker, and cooking utensils, so you can cook by yourself. The whole room is a big open space The room has no partitions and is not suitable for those who need privacy. Those who live on the first floor may face the noise from residents walking on the second floor. The hotel is located next to the highway, next to a small village, about a quarter of an hour's walk from Tobu Nikko Station. Although the road is not long, it is not very smooth. There is a 7-11 and a larger supermarket within three minutes. There is no front desk, check-in requires self-service, and the room has a password lock. Remember that you cannot check in before three o'clock and you cannot store your luggage. Your luggage can be stored at the station. It cost 5,100 RMB to stay for three days. The black house at the end of the video is the hotel.
GGuest UserPassing by Kawaji Onsen, I stayed at Hansei Nikko for one night, and I was pleasantly surprised! A very popular hotel. The service is warm and professional, and the food is delicious. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, go for a walk by the river in the morning and evening, which is full of charm. I will choose this restaurant next time I pass by.
GGuest UserNikko Park lodge mountain side is an excellent place to stay. For a very reasonable price we got a private room with a bath and toilet and comfortable single beds. The place is clean, the location is beautiful and delicious dinner and breakfast are served for an excellent price.
The owners are very nice and helpful, they drove us to the train station which was very kind of them. A taxi from the train station costs 1000 yen.
Highly recommend!
GGuest UserI came here to escape the heat during the intense heat. A hot spring hotel located in the middle of nature. It is operated using the former building. It's quite a distance from Nikko to Oku-Nikko, but it's worth it because there are wonderful hot springs with cloudy sulfur springs. It's true that the flow line to the hot springs passes in front of the front desk, so I'm a little confused, but it's mutual. The restaurant is also buffet style. It felt like the table was close to the table next door. However, there seemed to be some rooms that were partitioned off for large groups or families with children, so it was untidy and unsettling. I felt that there was no such thing. There was a wide variety of items and drinks, and I felt that they were very creative. Breakfast was also sufficient. Lake Yunoko is right in front of you, so it's great for hiking. Nature is abundant and the air is delicious and cool. You will definitely want to visit again and again.
GGuest UserWe stayed on the top floor. The scenery outside the window was very beautiful, and it was close to the lake. It rained heavily at night, and the roof of the room would drip down steadily. It was too sleepy, so I took a bath towel and placed it on the tatami. Second When I checked out, the front desk staff also apologized very mechanically when I checked out.
GGuest UserI stayed in a nice room overlooking the Kinugawa River.
The room was large and the heating worked well.
The bathroom in my room was no longer in use, so I used the large public bath, but unfortunately the temperature of the water was too cold.
Also, it was a real shame that the public bath was only open from evening until night, so I couldn't take a bath in the morning.
Currently, it is only possible to stay overnight without meals and no meals are provided, but there is a 24-hour convenience store nearby, making it convenient for families to travel cheaply.
There is also a refrigerator in the room, which is helpful.
Unfortunately, there are no affordable restaurants nearby.
Considering the cost-effectiveness, I think it is suitable for a family trip.
