The pub and hotel are lovely, service was spot on and breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious.
We just weren’t that keen on our room. We were staying as a family of three so we got put in The Stables room, which felt a bit like sleeping in a basement. Rather dark and dingy although the beds were comfy and we slept pretty well. It could certainly do with a mini fridge, to keep your own food in and it would have been nice to have a bottle of water provided.
The biggest issue though, was the bathroom. The room is adapted for disabled guests, so it’s a wet room rather than a normal bathroom, which means the whole floor gets soaked if someone takes a shower. You’ve got a sit down shower facility, with a removable shower head, and another shower head fixed to the wall for those who stand up, which was utterly hopeless. It sprayed in all directions but down on the user, so to get washed you had to press yourself against the wall. Almost unusable really, so we had to resort to using the hand-held shower, which is not the experience you’d expect for £120 a night.
If that got sorted out and some extra provisions were made in the room, it would be fab. We had family staying in other rooms upstairs who all said theirs were lovely. I just wouldn’t recommend the Stables.
