Hotels near Sakaushi Residence, Otaru

Very nice hotel, the lobby is big and nice, allow us to check in at 2 pm. There are some reception staff that can speak mandarin as well. We booked a room for 3 people with 3 single beds. The room is bigger than expected and the washroom is more spacious as compared to others I have stayed in before. Pros is near the Otaru Canal, from the hotel just walk straight all the way will reach Otaru canal. Opposite the hotel there is a Lawson, convenient to buy stuff. Cons is slightly far away from JR station and you will need to walk about 10 mins.

Staff is nice. Pillows & bed are ok. Location is ok (if driving) and there is a convenient store around The day we checked in is the day b4 my hubby's birthday, I requested to do some simple decorations or just a birthday message for him. Hotel rejected my request but finally they put a paper printed birthday message on table. Thank you. They have private car park which is not free and charged 1500 yen per car per night. However, they are very straight to ask you move out car at 11 am next day even not full many free space, not allow to stay. Quite pitiless. Hotel room looked nice but lighting is not enough for ladies to make up. Since no double bed room available, we requested hotel to put 2 beds together and hotel confirmed but finally did not arranged. We saw Youtuber advised breakfast is good but actually just soso, not a must to try.

As a Dormy Inn Premium, the food was excellent. Breakfast had a good spread of fresh sashimi and other traditional japanese options. The public bath was well maintained and as always the free ramen and ice cream round up a great day. The location is just across the Otaru JR Station and a 10 minute walk to the Otaru Canal.

The staff at the reception speaks fluent English, which is good. Sth dramatic happened after I checked in. Somehow my suitcase cannot be unlocked,though I knew the key number. So I had to call reception for help, luckily they do have the tool to open the suitcase, but I was told to wait because someone else were using it and I was supposed to be called after the reception got the tool. Waited whole night long, with no phone call, and had to check out the next morning with my broken suitcase. So if you find your suitcase cannot be opened, go find reception immediately or u might not get the chance to use the tool, haha

Amazing location (10min walk from JR Station, 12-15min walk to main shopping street), great view facing the canal. Staff were very friendly. Overall facilities seemed old but very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this hotel to others!

Good hotel stay with plenty of extra amenities and storage to make your stay comfy. Smoking area for smoking guests stinks the whole lobby as you walk through reception to the lift, which is a shame. It is a non smoking hotel. Close to the sightseeing spots and about 10 mins walk to JR Station and supermarket.

Good location next to Aeon mall, inter connected so as not to walk in the open in harsh weather. Nice, clean room with lovely Ocean view. Good breakfast spread and friendly staff. Will stay again if in Otaru.

We absolutely loved this ryokan experience! Stayed for 2d1n as a couple and absolutely loved the place! We booked the room with the private onsen and it was a lovely small space on the 2nd floor we could enjoy privately. The onsen is not too big, maybe 1.5 x 1.5 meters, but it was spacious for the two of us. We also found out that you can book a 45 minute slot for a separate private onsen for about ¥2200, which we may have done instead, had we known about it before booking. The japanese-style room was comfortable and had the usual amenities provided, alongside other nice additions like lotions and creams. The staff helped us to set up our futon (japanese-style bed) after dinner, and it was overall a very comfortable experience. The staff are super friendly and service was incredible. We got the dinner and breakfast package and the food was excellent. We had to choose both the dinner slot in advance, and it is first-come-first-serve. Dinner was served to us in the room over 1.5h and was a really amazing 12-course meal with instructions on the eating order. Breakfast was more standard, but still nice, we took it in the dining hall. The lounge is open till 10pm and we could take drinks and refreshment freely, including some small snacks and soft drinks. But they stop serving beer at 9pm. The onsens also have mini-fridges with free popsicles. There is also an outside area you can access from 3pm - 9pm that serves hot coffee and wine, with free marshmallows you can roast on the outside firepit. It was really nice. The garden is by far the nicest part of the hotel, it is really big and well decorated, with many nice places for photos and to enjoy a hot drink from the lounge. The space is quite large and might take about 20 minutes to fully explore. The only downside I can think of is that the location is quite hard to access. We chose to get to and from the ryokan by taxi, but there is also a shuttle bus service, from what I understand. When we arrived, the reception told us that there would be a shuttle bus leaving at 10:45 to Otaruchikko station. We still ended up requesting a taxi from the front desk though, which they were happy to help us book (I couldn't get any taxis by cab in the location). Overall a really amazing stay that we would absolutely recommend. The price tag might seem high for a ”3 star” hotel, but the ranking is deceptive, we absolutely had a 5 star experience. The hotel is in a very good location, on the hill next to the Ferris wheel, with great views, facing the cliffs and the sea. Due to its age, the hotel facilities are relatively old, but they are well maintained. The private bath in the room enjoys the sea view, which makes people linger. The service of the hotel is very old-fashioned and in place. If there is any shortcoming, it is that the quality of breakfast and dinner needs to be further improved.

I stayed here on a trip with my girlfriend whom I hadn't seen in a long time. We came by car from Sapporo, and it was close to Otaru city, so there was a parking lot and it was easy to access. My first impression was that it was luxurious for the price, and for a moment I thought I had come to the wrong hotel. The room we stayed in was on the top floor, the 8th floor, and it was clean and had a great view. For dinner, we had the 2,800 yen sashimi set meal. Everything was fresh and delicious. I was impressed by the garnish (like collagen) that I had never seen before. There were two types of hot springs, and the open-air bath was especially good, but There was only enough space for two people to sit, both inside and outside, so it was disappointing that there was no place to relax after the sauna. In the end, there were so many people that I couldn't sit down after the cold bath, so I just sat in the area to wash my body. I wish they had more chairs. My trip with my girlfriend became a good memory. Thank you.
