De Poort Country Lodge

Satisfied with everything. Everything was perfect. Service was excellent. The place was clean. The rooms were perfect and the stuff was also welcoming. I will still choose this over and over at any given chance.

Nice place, beautifull surrounding, very nice owners! We were in African winter, so the swimming pool was very cold. Also the house we had was very cold. The warm water bags helped a lot for sleeping but the heating wasn t strong enough to warm the house.

Our stay at De Poort Country Lodge was excellent. Elna was very welcoming when we arrived. The pool and garden facilities are wonderful. We didn't really feel like like leaving the lodge, it was very relaxing. Our best stay at Oudtshoorn by far!

We were met by the friendly owner with a glass of sherry and shown to our lovely comfortable accommodation. Beautiful swimming pool and well equipped bbq/braai areas - absolutely perfect night's stay. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

In January 2024, I was in a bind on my mother's 80th birthday, needing last-minute accommodation. We had left Cape Town early, aiming for an overnight stay in Wilderness on our way to Addo Elephant Park. A spontaneous decision to visit the Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn extended our day unexpectedly. To avoid spending the entire birthday on the road, I sought a nearby place to stay. Driving away from the caves, I was on the lookout for a suitable place, preferably nestled in the hills rather than in Oudtshoorn. Spotting De Poort, it seemed perfect, but appeared fully booked. Nonetheless, I hoped they might recommend a similar place. The owner, Elna, informed us that online bookings filled their rooms, but upon hearing about our situation, she kindly offered us their last room. The room was fantastic, and Elna's warmth was remarkable. She even booked dinner for us and included a special 80th birthday cake and flowers in our breakfast basket. Her guidance for an offbeat route to Addo and assistance in finding accommodation in Wilderness three days later were invaluable. My mum adored a lily pot in the room, which Elna gifted us as a keepsake. Exploring the grounds the next morning, it was evident that the couple pours their heart into their hospitality, offering a genuine, personal touch. For anyone visiting the Cango Caves or Oudtshoorn, I highly recommend De Poort. Book in advance to experience their exceptional hospitality and to avoid missing out on meeting such wonderful hosts. Stayed here on tour and would have loved to stay longer. We were made very welcome indeed on arrival by Elna and the accommodation is set in beautiful gardens. The apartments are of high quality and furnished with great taste. Lovely ambience. Just a lovely place to stay, recommended.

The place is Beautiful and Awesome, and I really liked it and also being outskits of town where noise and pollution is small, it made me to love it. Its also convenient and accessible to nearest resorts

We had a great stay at De Poort Country Lodge. The communication and check in were absolutely hassle free and Elna is super lovely so we felt right at home. The layout of the lodge with the beautifully landscaped garden and the wonderful surroundings have exceeded our expectations, so that we were sad to have booked only one night as a stopover. Elna gave us some great tips for things to do that were beneficial to us. We can therefore only recommend to book the accommodation and plan several nights at once, as there is much to experience and enjoy.
