Hôtel-Restaurant Bel Ami

Apart from the great location on the banks of the beautiful Eure, the warmth of the staff is what lifts this hotel into the special. From the lady in reception who walked me to the back gate to show me where to go for a run along the river, to Asma and her team on breakfast, everyone was warm and unfakeably genuine. The bedroom and bathroom all unimpeachably clean and comfortable, we slept well and were glad of our choice.

How Sad. This would of been our 4th visit to this hotel. We booked directly this time rather than through ***********. We booked in June and requested the room we had previously had. As I received nothing from the hotel I stupidly presumed they had booked it. On arrival we were told by a very arrogant young man that it wasn’t possible they were full. We were put in a room which really didn’t live up to a 4 star establishment. It looked as if it was never used as it wasn’t very clean there were spider eggs around the door frames that lead to a balcony. When I sat on the bed the dust that flew out the headboard was incredible. We asked if it was noisy as it was over the restaurant and he said ‘only until it closes! He asked if we had booked the restaurant and we said no he told that was full. So we asked if he could recommend somewhere else and he said not really only one in Vernon which was about 15-20 mins drive. Considering we were in a busy small town it was ridiculous. Breakfast wasn’t over whelming and the staff were all sprawled over the sofas in another area and we had to find them to ask for coffee. More coffee was never offered. The hotel is part of the Les Collectioneurs hotels and we had spent the previous night in one and it was fabulous - this one we would never stay in again. It was a disgrace.
