This was a layover hotel for us and it did the trick. It is only about 15 minutes away from Teminal C at EWR and also has shuttles that can drop you to the airport. Remember to call ahead of time and book your slot because the shuttle runs at scheduled time and can be full. They have a decent spread for breakfast. The reception is very helpful as well.

I stayed at TRYP by Wyndham Newark Downtown on a Tuesday night and overall had a good experience. The hotel is in a very convenient location, an easy walking distance to Newark Penn Station, which makes getting around extremely convenient. The room was clean and comfortable, and the property feels well-maintained. My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower, which was noticeably weak. Everything else worked well, but stronger water pressure would make the stay much better. Overall, a solid choice for a short stay in Newark, especially if you need quick access to Penn Station.

Stayed here after a late night flight into EWR. The hotel had a free shuttle that picked us from the airport. The staff was very welcoming despite our late check in and short stay. Rooms were clean and comfy!

It's suitable for one night stay, but the stupidest airport pick-up service is that the front desk is too busy to arrange the pick-up at all. Some guests waited for 2 hours for the shuttle to pick them up.

This is the oldest Hilton hotel I've ever stayed in. At 179cm tall, I felt the bathroom sink was a bit high. There was no mineral water in the room, so I brought my own slippers. The second floor is the front desk, and there's a small shop outside. There are many businesses outside, but for some reason it's been closed 24 hours a day for the past two days. Transportation is very convenient, with a train station next door, which has a McDonald's and small shops, and is two stops away from Manhattan. There are some homeless people, so try not to go out at night. I prefer a quiet room facing a side street, as cars, especially motorcycles, can be quite noisy around midnight.
