Aldemar Royal Olympian

I stayed at the Aldamor one week in July 2024.Beautiful hotel located directly on the wide sandy beach. The hotel has many wonderful pools and several restaurants. Very tasty food, friendly and professional staff. Very nice and helpful people at the reception, willing to help in any situation. I definitely recommend this hotel.

In ancient Greek and Roman mythology Odysseus spent ten years trying to find his way around the Aegean. I now know how he felt after visiting the Aldemar Olympian Village - it is vast! For context the AOV is as big as Hyde Park London but far better maintained with avenues of finely cultivated lawns hedges, topiary and not a sign of litter. Just along the beach you can marvel at the remains of Roman baths because Skafidia was known then as a place to come and relax. Two thousand years later you can do just the same, I mean how lucky are we to be able to enjoy far more than the Romans ever dreamt of? For example - Playground Laundry/Valet service Business center Sauna Baby sitting Spa Coffee shop Concierge desk Exercise gym Internet services Tennis courts Beauty shop/salon Bicycle rentals Currency exchange 5 Restaurants 3 Pools Jacuzzi Outdoor pool 1 Children's pool 4 Lounges/bars Pool Bar Room service Games room Dry cleaning Mini market Kids Club Massage services Indoor pool Safe deposit box Driving range Elevators Live entertainment Miles of sandy beach So you see the AOV isn't just a holiday hotel it's a self-contained whole life time of experiences in one place. If however your perfect holiday consists of wandering up mountains, jungles or deserts with no one around, or having your grapes peeled whilst being fanned by Nubians, Roman style, then the AOV is not for you. But if your thoughts are for a sublimely relaxing few weeks involving a hedonistic lifestyle I can't think of a better place. At the time of the Romans the Greek stoic Epictetus wrote ""Most of what passes for legitimate entertainment is inferior or foolish and only caters to or exploits people's weaknesses. Avoid being one of the mob who indulges in such pastimes. Your life is too short and you have important things to do. Be discriminating about what images and ideas you permit into your mind. If you yourself don't choose what thoughts and images you expose yourself to, someone else will, and their motives may not be the highest. It is the easiest thing in the world to slide imperceptibly into vulgarity. But there's no need for that to happen if you determine not to waste your time and attention on mindless pap.” ― Epictetus, The Art of Living: The Classical Manual on Virtue, Happiness and Effectiveness I mention this quote because you will note that I haven't commented on the rooms, wines, food, housekeeping etc. That is because other reviews have done a far better job than I could ever do in expressing how wonderful and exceptional it all is. No, I include it for the naysayers, the writers of reviews who just don't get it and as Epictetus says have allowed other people's thoughts and images into their minds, just don't be one of them please! Very relaxing holidays. The pools are perfect and the food amazing . The staff very kind and helpful! Sharing pool bungalows are highly recommended! Kids friendly facilities with kids club and bike rentals options! The hotel manager is very kind ! Also the chef from Crete is amazing!
