Sandos Papagayo

We are currently here and in the middle of our 3rd visit and, if anything, it's even better than before. Goodness knows how anyone rates this below 4 stars but, having said that, we have never visited in peak season. Are there things to improve? Yes but that's only our opinion. They have introduced a policy of not reserving sun beds efore 9am. Absolutely brilliant. Trouble is, they don't enforce it. We are early risers and go for breakfast as soon as it opens at 8am. We can see beds reserved with towels at that time with no one in sight and they are in the prime locations. Our view is that, if you have a policy, enforce it. Most people are abiding by it and the rule breakers will soon learn. Secondly, being early risers, we also retire early. Starting the entertainment at 10pm is too late as far as we are concerned. Finally, water should be available by the pools all the time. When it is 26°C from 10am it is not acceptable for water to not be available until the bars open at 11. In a 20 year old hotel certain things are a bit tired and there is no sign of ongoing maintenance. Where we stayed last year in Los Pocillos they were redecorating, non-stop. If they want this hotel to stay at the top of my shopping list they need to start replacing poolside tiles etc as an ongoing activity.

The views were beautiful from the room, however thought I was getting a double bed 90% of the staff were amazing just maybe that 10% who were not keen on us Enjoys the mini golf and the DJ night they had however would be nice to have more on for younger couples

Overall this hotel is good. The sea facing room we had was lovely with an amazing view and adequate facilities. Clean and comfy bed. The food was good for an all inclusive but the breakfast choice could have been better - omelette station would be nice. Drinks were fine for us but at busy times there was quite a cue. Entertainment was ok but it's not really our thing. The location near the amazing beaches and being able to walk to the marina and nice local bars and restaurants made the holiday. This area of Lanzarote is very clean and classy.

It’s a nice hotel. But in need off lots maintenance work doing broken cracked tiles all over the hotel, needs good tidy up. And lick paint The biggest problem is smoking, round the pools on the terrace areas day and night, You see hotel staff and management just walk passed and do nothing this needs addressing and stopping as it spoils your holiday, Food was ok so was drinks

Staying at sandos hotel last week .13th September . In our arrival was greeted by matteo who went above and beyond to help us to stayed in royal elite. My husband arranged special anniversary gift and birthday gifts which hotel provided which was lovely especially the cake and the done our room with decorations . Food was out of this world different food and variety every night . Lovely hotel nice and clean plus rooms always cleaned . Most of sun-beds recovered now which is nice . In the down side I found some of staff in elite restaurant and bit miserable has we went in for our breakfast but the lady manger very nice . Also in elite suite having to climb in bath to use shower or bath a bit dated as if we Beas an older person been very dangerous. Also I think pool area very dangerous people were slipping on tiles when wet . And we could not book Mexican restaurant either which was a shame . Anyway all in all had a lovely stay thank you so much especially to matteo .

Stayed here with my wife who is ceoleac. Staff were fabulous in helping her with Gluten Free options. The most helpful staff we've ever come across in that regard. The reception staff the same, amazing and cannot do enough for you. Contrary to another review, you can ask for a gluten free mean beforehand and they will prepare it for you and the cook it when you arrive in the buffet restaurant. Pools wise, yes you get a whole load of people who are at the pool at 7:30 with their towels. What we do in the main is go walking after breakfast as far as we can which is generally down town Playa Blanca and walk back. Challenging in the July heat I can tell you. Then we lunch and look for sunbeds after that. It's challenging however there are always sunbeds free at the side of the pool and generally if you wait, someone will leave the pool area to go on an excursion or whatever so you end up with decent sunbeds if you are patient. WiFi throughout the hotel is not true as you don't get WiFi signal around most of the pools. Sorry guys but I have to be honest! Positives again, food wide and varied. All inclusive + is great if yuo fancy a beer, wine or snack after hours. Food wide and varied though there was a wrongly marked item in the Asian specialty restaurant where a gluten free sign had been put over the wrong dish. My wife ate this food before realising. This mistake which caused my wife and I to walk out of the restaurant. Staying with the restaurant itself, they would be much better making it table service. People get dressed up in their best clothes to go there so why make it yet another buffet when we've been eating buffet all week. Make the experience extra special for guests please. The negatives were that in general, the hotel isn't the cleanest. There are a lot of plates in the restaurant that you have to leave out due to food still being visible on them even though they're supposed to be clean. A real turn off however these plates are generally in the same area, right at the start of the buffet. If you have walking issues, this is not the place for you. There is buses put on by hotel to the centre however it's.generally not a suitable hotel For anyone with walking issues. I've outlined some negatives however the positives far outweigh the negatives, so much so that we are going back again in October to do it all again.

Amazing hotel. Clean, modern, great pool, amazing food, lovely walk along the prom to the Marina, great entertainment. Staff on the reception seemed unhelpful in both instances of having to deal with them but all other staff are so friendly and lovely. It’s a shame as they’re who you have to speak to on arrival and it just let the hotel down as soon as we arrived. Luckily we had been before so were able to see past their attitude.

Our second visit and definitely not our last Lovely hotel. Lots of things to do Great food and plenty of drinks The Staff are what make a place and without exception all the Staff at the Papagayo are wonderful, friendly and professional Entertainment is high standard. The saxophone player was an unexpected delight Just love this place xx

Our third visit, since our first in December 2022 and again in September 2023, so we have now experienced the hotel over 3 different months. It was certainly hotter in July, but fortunately there was a cooling wind most of the time, which made it bearable. There are wide ranging opinions of Royal Elite, but from our point of view, it certainly is worth the extra £25 or so per person per night. We have found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful and were surprised about recent negative comments concerning Reception. We have always enjoyed a great relationship with the staff on Reception, and in July the service we received from Ylenia and her colleagues was first class. Another really nice member of staff is John(Jhon is his Colombian name!) who manages the pool bar. He is a great asset to the hotel and is very popular with all his guests. It’s always difficult to mention other star members of staff, but Erica,Ana and their colleagues in the Royal Elite restaurant give wonderful service. We have spoken to Carlos, the Manager, several times, and he has always been very approachable and helpful. So, we are looking forward to our next visit, hopefully in December.
