Hotel Mirador Papagayo by LIVVO

Went away for 5 nights with a couple of friends at the end of August. Greeted with a lovely glass of Cava at reception. Arrived too early for rooms, but could use facilities straight away. Sea view room was stunning. Very well equipped and beautifully decorated. We went fully inclusive. I'm vegan, so usually struggle with food, but there was so much to choose from. I've never eaten so well. Fresh breads, pastas, rice, and about 4 different types of potatoes every meal, and the most fabulous salad bar you could imagine. Dairy free milks at breakfast, fruit, toast, cereals, cooked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms etc. How anyone can complain about the food is beyond me. Both my friends are omnivores and the choice was fantastic. Friendly staff, great location, lovely pool areas, great bars. Very relaxed atmosphere. I'd definitely visit again.

Do not expect too much from this hotel. I am still here writting this review. I arrived 12 tuesday but check in not til 3pm! Say get a text didnt so go straight desk 3pm ok got sorted a room there then good. Sunbed situation u will get one eventually, however one day one lady throw my stuff on floor took my sunbed while im in pool , which is very rude her. Bear in mind im here as solo traveller trying have a relaxing birthday away like i do every year. Animation team ok but half time u cannot hear what they announcing on as speaker on too low. Food was ok but can do with more options as i am diary free and ive been to many 4stars hotels they offer way lot more than this. Room was nice top floor facing pool with bit sea view, room looks dated as bathroom goes. Safe free to use good. Staff some just want get rid of you if you want complain about something, my patio door was jam in turns air con didnt come on waited for over 45mins have someone come looks at it. Also on my actually birthday most 4stars hotels ive been to give me a bottle wine/cava for birthday thats nice touch but this hotel dont apparently only give to anniversary and weddings only, so dont expect that. A piece pf paper and piece chocolate all u given may as well not bother, i feel that is just let down. As a solo traveller ive paid good money to go away and i do have expectation and want to enjoy my birthday holiday away made special.

I stayed at the Mirador Papagayo Hotel for the last 2 weeks in August with my 2 teenagers, we had a double, front sea view room. The view from the room was amazing and the room was very clean, the bath did look dated and a little rusty on the side. The bathroom did not have an extractor fan or a window so after 3 people showering the room did become very hot. The hotel grounds were well maintained, each morning the floor was cleaned around the pool and the pool was cleaned. We never had a problem with getting a sun lounger, even after a trip to the market. It would have been nice to have a little table next to the lounger but these were not provided. You could not have balls in the pool but water guns were allowed which I didn't understand as they did get annoying. We joined in most of the activates around the pool. We were disappointed one day as my 13 year old was told she could not join in the darts because she was too young (even though I had paid an adults price for her and she was too old for the kids club). On a separate occasion I signed a disclaimer to allow her to play archery. Once again Pinky (the male entertainer) told her she could not join in, even though she had already played archery twice before, after signing the disclaimer. Sadly Pinky really did let the entertainment team down. He showed no enthusiasm and a clear dislike of children. We spoke to other people around the pool who felt the same. When doing the mini disco he just looked like he did not want to be there. On a massive contrast was Vanesa, she had such a zest for her job and brought such energy! She put her heart and sole into everything that she did and really made our holiday. We loved the yoga and her dance class! The outdoor evening entertainment was defiantly better than having it inside. When I asked Pinky why the entertainer wasn't outside more often, he told me that it was too much work for them! On the whole we enjoyed the food, my daughter is a fussy eater and did struggle to find something she liked on a couple of occasions. All the staff at the hotel were so helpful, it was just a shame about the one member who did spoil the vibe at times. I would defiantly recommend this hotel but maybe less so if you have a fussy eater.

A lovely family resort. Kids club staff were fantastic with sessions from 11-12.45 and 15.00 - 16.45. Hotel was immaculate with regular maid services keeping the room clean. Air con worked perfectly. If you have a limited British pallate you might find the food choices a bit samey but we really enjoyed some of the variety. The oriental themed night was very good with some delicious sushi on offer. We were half board but the drinks prices were more than reasonable (4,20 euro for a pint and 6 euro for a cocktail). There's a little centre 5 minute walk away with a few restaurants. The main area of Playa Blanca is about 25 minutes walk away and there is plenty more. The hotel run a shuttle around 10 and 12 with a return at 16.30. Other highlights for us were the kids mini disco each evening and the family foam/pool party which runs once a week. All in all, fantastic value for money and a lovely family holiday!

Hotel is stunning , was always clean . The entertainment team were great with the children . The food if fussy was awful . The “beige “ kids we have had bread rolls chips and pasta , as all the meat dishes were always covered in sauce . Seafood and sushi were plenty but not great if you don’t like this . The hotel mainly catered for Spanish including the awful entertainment they had on at 10pm which finished at 10.30 Out of 14 days only 2 acts were remotely ok . Hotel is mainly Spanish who on many occasion we found rude . Some staff were lovely such as the guys in the restaurant, some staff were miserable as hell , I would return but only in a self catering basis so we could eat out and watch entertainment down the marina . Food choices for children and the entertainment ( if you can call it that ) massively lets this hotel down as it’s absolutely stunning and spotless

Just a BLURGH of my thoughts about our stay. Please don’t misunderstand. For the most part, we enjoyed our stay. There are many good things (though not excellent) about the place. This is just a list of the unfortunate issues we encountered, which for me, I do not expect of the 4* it is (and what I expect of a 4*) and the price we paid. It has an excellent reputation and some very loyal guests that keep returning. Is it that this is the best of a bad bunch? And so relatively speaking in comparison this is better than the other resorts in the area? I don’t know. For me though, it wasn’t good enough to make me think, I’ll come back. I would rather see what else I can get, somewhere else, next time. Awful view out of the front and back of our ‘suite’ (I think we were unlucky in the room that was given to us). Office building out the front, main road and residents houses out the back window. Nothing like the brochure (Either views of a pool or of the sea). Bedroom TV was not tuned. This was reported. Issue never fixed. Upon arrival, there was no bin bag in our broken bin (under the sink). The cupboard smelt so bad of cigarettes smoke too. Reported. Bin bag replaced. Smell still remained. Shower handle broken. Rusted fixture exposed. No plug for kitchen sink. The room appeared clean. Not spotless, but clean enough. Areas of splatters not cleaned in corners. No reserving of sun bed policy. No one followed. Staff did not make effort to enforce this rule. Most sun beds ‘reserved’ and not used. 4x4 lots of sun beds reserved at 7am one morning. Families did not arrive until after 1300! Litter. So much litter left around the pool area. No effort by staff to pick it up during the day. Picked up next morning when pool is cleaned and prepped for the day. Are all staff friendly and approachable? No. A couple of bar staff did not make me feel like they were happy to serve me. One lady at reception walked away from me mid-conversation to answer the phone. She did not apologise on her return. Food offered was good. The first 2 nights it seemed a little underwhelming, but then the theme of different cuisine from around the world was apparent and better when the whole offering leaned into that theme. The bar doesn’t have a really obvious menu for all inclusive guests so you are confident what you are ordering is included. Also, I ordered a gin and tonic, but on occasion I got tequila and tonic 🫤 The entertainment team are incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, especially the sports/yoga instructor, her zest for life is something that really made me feel happy to be there. The male entertainer however really needs to be more enthusiastic as he drags the whole vibe down. Some of my points may seem nit picky (and they are). I am someone who pays attention to details and appreciate others who pay attention to detail too.
