Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen Adults Only All Inclusive

It is well located and protected place. Foods are amazing and there are too many different kinds. Pool is nice. It only needs a better beach. Not for a beach holiday but others are really good.

I stayed at the Wyndham Alltra because it was categorized as a 5-star hotel on the hotel’s website and it was very affordable. The 5 star rating is overrated. I did not enjoy my experience. The smell of the hotel due to the seaweed on the beach was so awful. The resort smells like sewage and I was shocked at how many people were lounging around as if they were oblivious to it. I booked an oceanfront view room and couldn’t enjoy it due to the smell. The food was not fresh and tasted horrible with the exception of the specialty restaurants. One positive is the staff were very pleasant but I would never stay here again.

I know the rain wasn’t the fault of anyone, but they cancelled the foam party even though it wasn’t raining during the time the party was supposed to take place. Also the sushi bar was not opened not even once during our stay. Those were two of the things I was looking forward to.

The only good thing was the location. Close to local shopping and restaurants. The hotel it’s a little older but well maintained but the beach was DISGUSTING! First there is no beach access so the photos on the website are very misleading. It was covered in old seaweed that stuck to high heaven. They could easily rake it daily to keep the appearance of a beach and help the smell. We could not even open our balcony door due to the smell. The service is lacking. We were ignored and often overlooked. We had to refill our water many times while the staff stood around chatting w/each other. The cocktails were not good at all, I get they use cheap liquor but a mojito is pretty basic and it was not drinkable. Very disappointed in the cocktails. Food was mediocre at best, buffet was days of the same foods just refurbished. Also none of the bars open onsite until 11 am! Thankfully it was located very close to their town and the restaurants open early serving well made drinks and food!

One of the benefits of being adults only would be that you would hope to find more opportunities for adult activities especially in the evening. The only option in the resort is the lobby bar and their shows and music ends by 9 pm. For anyone who doesn’t want to have to leave the resort for music and dancing, this will leave you feeling like there is not much to do.
