Booked at short notice ( thanks Michell for making it happen), ground floor room was spotless, quiet, the service was warm and helpful, and the large pool area was fabulous. Almost childfree! The gardens are gorgeous and well cared for. See you next year.

Amazing how little research some travellers do about a potential booking, the reason we book direct. Our ground floor room 5 was exactly as described, we chose to trade a modicum of privacy for easy access to our apartment. The “back”pool was amazingly underused and quiet with plenty of loungers and cabana areas. Every staff member we encountered went beyond, and thanks Mitchell especially for managing a last minute booking for us.

We had a fantastic 12 day holiday at Hibiscus Resort & Spa, escaping the cold New Zealand winter. We loved our spacious, tastefully decorated one-bedroom unit, with the private and secure balcony being like an extra room. Our unit remained cool and fresh with the airflow from the bathroom window going through the bedroom and living area to the balcony. We occasionally used the fans, but never needed the air conditioning. The resort is a convenient distance from shops, restaurants and the beach. The picturesque grounds with their lush gardens and pools make for very restful views from the units on all floors. We found all reception and housekeeping staff to be friendly, helpful and efficient. We booked several tourist excursions through Lucha and he made everything so simplified and stress free. for us. I loved using the luxurious MOR toiletries,, a special touch much appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hibiscus to friends and family travelling to Port Douglas.

We stayed in a privately-owned first-floor apartment at this property. Be aware that there are no lifts, so you’ll need to lug your bags up the stairs. Our apartment overlooked the main pool, with people using the boardwalk able to see onto our (and others’) balcony (not a lot of privacy there). I can’t speak for the resort rooms as a whole, but ours was a little tired and in need of some TLC. The pool nearest reception was lovely (didn’t use the other one), with lots of seating/loungers and a great barbecue area. The best thing about this property is its location, being about halfway between Four Mile Beach and the marina and an easy walk to Macrossan Street with its many bars, restaurants and cafes. Oh, and the reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly!

Perfect place to stay between Macrossan and the beach. Spacious and quiet and staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Clean and well kept and will definitely stay again. We chose the dual key apartments which was perfect for us with two teenagers.

I have to be clear here that I am reviewing a private rental within the resort. We rented a private unit (number 52) from a private owner who neglected to tell us that the resort is closed for renovation with accompanying workmen and noise. The resort should not be permitting this as the private owner is advertising things that are not available. Otherwise this is one of a handful of similar resorts scattered around Port Douglas with little to really set it apart. I wish i could give a better review but the impact of the closed resort and works mean that I cannot.

Apartment 10 is privately owned and I paid in advance for the one bedroom apartment. We arrived at 6pm to find a note on the kitchen bench asking us to ring immediately and not unpack. Rang someone who said they help look after the apartment (not the owner) and they told us there are alot of workman, renovations happening, the pool is closed and they offered a different apartment. We were tired and accepted the different apartment. It's just a studio flat. Then we realised the resort is closed!!!!!! I spoke to the reception here and these works have been happening for months. Only a couple of private owners allowed on site. We were moved to a block of units at the back with no view. Don't get duped. DO NOT BOOK APARTMENT 10

Don’t book here if you are not going n your twenties and really fit ! I’m in my late sixties, and like most, have developed a few medical issues. They don’t tell you that you have to walk up three flights of stairs and there’s no lifts. The place was nearly empty, but we were told that the ground floor units were not available because they were being renovated. When you book, they take your card details, and you pay in advance, ( fair enough ) but then they won’t let you book in bless you email them photo identification ! Why ? There can be absolutely NO legitimate reason for this….makes you wonder if they are selling your personal information to a third party ! ! !
