We just tried to make the booking on 22/10/2022 and luckily there were still available rooms. We were pretty in a rush that day as we accidentally got our booking canceled in another hotel (not IHG Hotel) and were planning to visit Blackpool. But it seemed that hotels in Blackpool were quite expensive, being unaffordable for students like us haha. So we decided to look for a hotel in Preston and thankfully we got such a fantastic IHG hotel. The staff was quite nice and friendly. We asked for a toothbrush in the morning of the second day and just received it immediately from reception after the call. Positive impression. We did not use many of the facilities, as we just had a buffet (British breakfast) at the second day in the morning. Food is delicious and healthier food and green vegetables were also provided. Really appreciate it as a person who really loves eating vegetables more than meat haha.

Stay away from this Hotel, like you would the plague, SERIOUSLY!!! I booked a 3 night stay at St Andrew's House Hotel, from the 7 February 2020 on wards, in an attempt to have a peaceful and comfortable stay, although, I couldn't have booked a worse Hotel!!!! I was kept awake all night long, from banging noises from above me and squeaky floor boards. Earlier in the evening when I heard noise, I was hoping it would settle down as the evening went on, however, it didn't, and so when it got to 3:38am I decided to call the emergency number for the Hotel, although, to my shocking surprise there was no answer and my call was not returned by either one of the Hoteliers I was only told when I had got to the Hotel that I was being put in a room were the shower was not working correctly. Phil said I would need to put the hot water on in the sink, then put the shower on and then I could turn the hot water off in the sink. I did this, however, the shower was not hot then, so I had to keep the hot water on in the sink, for the whole duration of my shower. The shower also kept coming on for 3 seconds and then went off again, repeatedly, until I had finished the shower. I asked for a refund for the 3 night stay, minus offering £10, to cover the laundry costs. Lorraine said in an off way, that it will cost them £15 for the laundry and extra for getting cleaners in, as well. She said she did not want to refund me for that night. I said I was not happy about this, I was very polite in how I handled the situation, but I felt that Lorraine had a very rude manner. Phil told Lorraine that he would give Lorraine the money back and he went ahead, to refund me back to my card. The refund receipt was dated the 8 February and to date (19 February), I have still not received a refund. I have tried to contact the hotel for the past 4 days, by calling them, but there has been no answer. I have left a voicemail, asking them to call me back, however, I have not been called back. I sent the Hotel an email on the 17 February and I have not received a response to this, as yet, My dad rung and spoke with Lorraine today at 12:54pm, to ask her nicely about my refund, she said that they had already refunded me. She said that she was out at the time, but that she would call my dad back when she got back to the Hotel, to which she never. I rung tonight and I spoke with Phil, he too, said that I had been refunded and I said I had not been. He also said that World Pay were the organisation that they use to deal with their refunds. I then contacted my bank and they said that it can take anything from 3-6 weeks to get a refund from them. I was very shocked at this, because Hotels usually refund customers directly, within anything up to, but not extending, 5 working days and the Hoteliers did not warn me of such a delay, either!!!! I rung the Hotel back again, as soon as Phil answered the phone, I heard Lorraine in the background, saying to Phil, to

We have just returned home after a three night stay at Astley Bank. On arrival, we were pleased enough with our room even though it looked a bit dated and tired. Friends joined us for dinner in the restaurant that evening and the food was good. On our first morning, we had breakfast in a small side room where we had the choice of fruit, yoghurt, pastries and a cooked choice from the A la Carte menu. All very nice. We had been informed their was a wedding that evening but as our room was on the second floor we weren't at all bothered by the noise and had a good night's sleep. Our main issues are around breakfast on the second day. Because of the wedding party, breakfast was a buffet in the restaurant. Also, on our last morning breakfast was again served as a buffet in the restaurant. On both days we were told to leave the restaurant at 9.30 sharp as the staff needed to prepare for lunchtime guests. We were also told there were no more pastries left as they had all been eaten. Astley Bank is a four star hotel but from our experience on the last two mornings, breakfast was not a four star event. We should have been informed that the A la Carte menu would not be available and, in our view, offered a refund. Our other issue was the over the bath shower in our bathroom. The water came out little more than a dribble, again, not what you expect from a four star hotel. The majority of the staff were very pleasant, with a ready greeting and smile. Mainly because of the issue over breakfast, we would have to think hard as to whether we would return. Any changes from what one might expect should be clearly explained upon booking.

I've been staying here regularly while working nearby over the past 12 months. The rooms are spacious and well decorated with the usual things like kettle etc. The fridge is a great feature as is the large TV which has on demand channels available. The lobby area is very large and decorated to a high standard. Almost all the seating areas have power sockets, so there's no need to worry about a dying phone or laptop battery letting you down. The hotel provides free WiFi all through the building and is very reliable. The hotel team are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They are quick to deal with any issues you may have during your stay. I always look forward to staying here and being well looked after by a great team of staff.

This was great for why we needed it. We wanted somewhere to spend the night after a full day of travelling. We also had a dog with us and the hotel were very accommodating for this. (Extra points). We had also got the breakfast package which was pretty decent. There was a wide range of food choices which was great as I can be a fussy eater. The place was pretty clean and the staff were very welcoming. The only real complaint that we have is the beds. They are so hard and not very comfortable. It was on par with lying on a concrete block. Despite this I do feel that everything else outweighed this, however one night would be my limit as my body felt broken the next day from the bed.

I initially booked and paid for this stay back in January but due to ill health I could no longer stay. The stay was put on credit for me and less than a week ago I got in touch asking if it was possible to use the stay this weekend just gone due to a mishap with calendar clashes. With no issues or delays, it was instantly organised for myself and my partner to stay there, and our room was even upgraded a larger room which was available at short notice. I questioned late at night when I arrived where I could park due to uncertainties with signage, and was immediately advised whilst I was still in the car! We stayed in the Lime Tree room and it was beautiful! Very modern, thoroughly clean, and there were even tea, coffee, milk, bottled water and snacks available which was a great finishing touch and a saving grace for the unorganised! The bed was extremely comfortable, the bedding is great hotel quality too. We will be regularly visiting Preston for our sport as we compete in a local Strength & Performance gym, and we absolutely will be back. It’s definitely made us rethink about driving up and down the country on the day, and put us at ease after previous bad experiences. Winkley Square Residences is the place to stay if you are ever in Preston, located in a lovely area, and an even nicer place to rest your head, run by very helpful and genuinely nice people. Hats off to you guys👍🏼

I like this hotel and have stayed here a few times. It is well located near Blackburn just off the M65 at junction 5. The on site pub is nice and there are also numerous places nearby where you can socialise and eat and drink. The room is of a high standard and modern, the bathroom is more than adequate for shaving or doing makeup properly. The room was warm and comfortable even though it was quite cold outside. Check-in is straight forward and handled in the adjoining pub. Once you have checked in your key card gives you access into the hotel accommodation. There is a night porter available when the pub is closed but you won't see staff in the hotel accomodation apart from housekeepers in the morning so it's useful if a little discretion is required.

When we arrived the barrier was down. We had to do that awkward thing of move the car over as far as you can and then stretch to reach the button to contact staff. Unfortunately the staff member who answered the gate intercom was a little hard to understand and she cut us off rather abruptly with the gate still remaining down. We pressed again and the gate allowed access. We checked in and I advised that I had already paid online via paypal. The staff advised that any payment was not an actual payment rather a hold - I would still need to pay again. If you use paypal you will know it takes several days to show on your account so I could neither prove nor disprove their claims. We got to our room and were pleased to be in an annexe as there was a wedding going on. Nice room size etc kettle, coffee machine, mugs, tea and biscuits. I checked in the bathroom for glasses and there were none available - I would assume that a hotel charging over £100 per night would at least supply plastic cups or proper glasses to drink water from. There was plenty of storage available and a decent hairdryer. The shower was nice - however the glass door was not long enough to prevent significant amounts of water hitting the floor - the bath mat was sodden. The shower tray and grout work as well as an area near the radiator had mould/blackening to it. There was also a random hole in the ceiling - possibly an old leak? The food was great although it took a while to arrive. I did ask for mild peppercorn sauce and no mushrooms - my food arrived with mushrooms and no peppercorn sauce. We left the restaurant believing that the meal would be added to the room - a member of staff followed us out advised that many people may have sat at the table and they needed a room number (this was given when we arrived at the restaurant) and could we pay now?!; perhaps they need a better booking/checking system in place? We then went through to the bar there were several tables which had been left with glasses on them. They were only removed when we sat at one of these tables, the table remained unwiped. The two staff on didn't come over to see if we wanted more drinks and didn't interact with other people who were hovering also intending to purchase drinks. I eventually took my chair and sat in front of the bar waiting for the staff to return from a patrol; neither asked if they could help so I shouted over. I believe this is indicative more of a lack of training in customer service than rudeness. Children from the wedding were becoming a nuisance by this point and were pretty much unchallenged by staff. They were running in and out, up and down stairs taking milk from the fridges and leaving plastic rings on the floor. They made enough noise to be heard on at least the first floor as the fire doors were help open by magnets. In our room we hoped for peace and quiet only to be left disappointed by music echoing over from the wedding - this finished just before midnight. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The gym was lovely and quiet at 8am although the sauna hadn't quite heated up when we headed in there around 8.40ish. Breakfast was mostly tasty - the black pudding lacked any flavour - the scrambled eggs and hash browns were great. The tea was the wrong colour and tasted like very cheap teabags. There were bits of chips on the floor from the food service the night before.

We spent New Years Eve and have to say, it was a brilliant way to bring in 2024. Our rooms were lovely. They were clean, and beautifully presented. When we arrived at the Blazers Suite for our Carvery Dinner, the staff had prepared a table really close by, as I had mentioned when booking that a member of my party was a bit unsteady on her feet. The receptionist said there would be somebody ready to help her to carry her hot meal, and there was a lovely member of staff at the back of the queue, who was more than happy to assist with choosing and carrying the plate to the table. The food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the salmon and prawn starter, wrapped in the lightest pastry. The DJ was good, and the dance floor was packed all night. At midnight there was a rousing chorus of Auld Lang Syne. Only one little quibble, to knock a star off. I checked breakfast and check out times with the receptionist when we checked in. I had previously rang to check this information and was told breakfast 8-10am and check out 10.30am. I thought it worth another ask, as in previous hotels these were later, but the times were confirmed as above. I was surprised, therefore, to overhear the same receptionist mentioning a late check out to another guest as we were checking out. I queried this, and she confirmed both breakfast and check out were later, it being New Years Day. She said she had not been told about the change early enough, and apologised. After such an enjoyable evening, and a lovely breakfast, I was not in the mood to complain. However, the added half hour for breakfast and checkout would have meant we could spend a bit more time with my family, who had travelled from the Wirral to celebrate with us.

GGuest UserStayed for 4 nights and what a wonderful stay, the hotel is 30 seconds walk from the Centre and 5 mins walk from Preston Station. The room was beautifully presented, clean and comfortable, and the staff, well, what can I say, Lauren and Lauren, Martin and all the staff made us feel more like friends than guests,….what can I say, we’ll definitely be staying again ( sorry guys! Lol) In a nutshell, highly recommended. By the way, Lauren, have you seen that Nun again? ;)

GGuest UserWe stay here quite regularly - not because the hotel is fabulous but because it's the only one in the area which has proper king sized beds available, and because the location is perfect as we are driving down the A6. They don't do weddings either which means you dont have all that noise to contend with. Hopefully now it's being rebranded this update will continue throughout the interior. The rooms are very dark and dated. There was a slight issue when we arrived as my message did not seem to have got through to say we needed a ground floor room due to mobility issues and by the time we arrived they had all been allocated and most of the lifts are currently being replaced, but the reception girls quickly got that sorted and gave us a family room with 2 double beds. The mattresses were in dire need of replacement - terribly saggy and one of them had a huge dip in the middle making them extremely uncomfortable. The duvets are horrendously heavy. There is no need to have something so heavy as you can get a good amount of heat from a much lighter weight duvet. I struggled to move under it as it weighed down so much and I have arthritis in my shoulder making it almost impossible to turn over. We did ask at reception for something lighter and were given sheets to use instead but the weather turned a bit cooler so the sheet was just too thin. I cannot imagine how the cleaning staff cope with changing the covers on these monstrosities daily when people check out. The cost of the 3 night stay for us was around £450 for room only. Extremely expensive. If we had booked B&B it would have been over £500. I do realise the spa/pool etc is probably covered in this price but perhaps a different price bracket to include or disclude the amenities might be a better idea as we were only basing ourselves there to sleep, and go out and about all day. The only other issue we had, which was of no fault of the hotel in any way, was the way some other guests had no concept of the amount of noise they make nor did they seem to care. We were wakened regularly to doors being let slam shut rather than gently closed at very early hours (there were a lot of workmen/businessmen staying) and in the room directly above us there was at least one child who sounded as if they were using the bed as a trampoline to bounce off of, onto the floor with a massive thud then run up and down the floor constantly from 6am each of the mornings.

GGuest UserQuite frankly we do not know where to start, If I could I would give ZERO stars The only redeeming feature for this hotel (calling it a hotel is a joke) is that it is very close to the M6 making it a perfect stop off on a long journey. The whole place smells of damp really smells it's quite over powering in both the basement corridors & our executive rooms bathroom. How could you possibly call this an executive room, the carpet was minging, the only soft seat chair looked like it was 50 years old which contained so much grime who knows what it had been used for previously. There was a bedside table missing, the furniture looked as if it was from the 1960's. As for the bathroom ZERO ventilation, mould all around the bath & basin, the shower had been leaking meaning the bath side panel was rotten, AND stains on the ceiling clearly from the room above leaking. The food was dire, served in dirty dark unattractive rooms. The night we arrived we went along to the restaurant NO one was seated & we asked for a table - the rude waiter said have you booked, I said no and was told to return to reception to book a table. Talk about jobs worth this attitude was beyond a joke. I wish we had gone by our instincts and ventured to a local pub. We sat down & we're given a fairly extensive menu but then told the chef was off, and only burgers & fish & chips could be served. Our food arrived it was passable BUT very expensive for what it was. The drinks prices were extortionate. At best it was Wimpy standard, but The Ivy prices. We heard other people complain about the poor choice of food available. The breakfast was poor, very slow service by people who clearly did not want to be there, why is this served in the darkest room in the hotel. Perhaps so you can not see how dire the whole experience is ?? All in all it is fair to say we will NEVER return. This place should be demolished and a new hotel built on site. Why are MacDonald hotel group management not aware that this hotel does not do their reputation any good? Xxxxxxxxx 33333 Reviewed 3 days ago Quite possibly the worst place we have ever stayed !! Quite frankly we do not know where to start, The only redeeming feature for this hotel (calling it a hotel is a joke) is that it is very close to the M6 making it a perfect stop off on a long journey. GGuest UserPARKING A NIGHTMARE I wish I had read the reviews & seen the photos on parking. It clearly states small cars only, but sorry it should state TINY CARS ONLY WITH ADVANCED DRIVING/PARKING CERTIFICATION. It took a lot of patience & inch by inch manoeuvring to park. Once parked we decided to taxi to & from our Fostering course. BEWARE Hotel has people living here (asylum seekers) appearing in pj's!!! Woman this morning came down in pj's to bring son to car presumably to take him to school! Smells in corridors suggest cooking in rooms possibly. Area very dodgy...don't go wandering at night as red-light street around corner! NO GOOD FOR DISABLED IF LIFT OUT OF ORDER no ground floor bedrooms, reception & bar/restaurant (more cafe...not much choice/out of stock) on 2nd floor. Carpark 1st floor with no access to hotel until registered as key card needed...so must walk down carpark ramp which is only entrance & exit for cars so dangerous for pedestrians especially at night. Bedrooms on 2nd, 3rd & 4th floors access by lift if working or lots of stairs. HOTEL DISMAL Cannot believe it cost us just under £200 for 3 nights no food included for such a dismal place. Plus they charge parking per night, unless disable badge that we luckily have. Bar/restaurant not great. Room okish (basic) but smells getting to room yak. No hairdryer in room, only 2 towels, no separate hand towel, & no shower mat. Staff lovely. But on reflection WORST stay ever. Will never stay in a travelodge again...Premier Inns have never let us down plus provide 4 towels + shower mat & hairdryer, so will use them instead. Sorry 😞 cannot recommend. Please see photos provided of illustrious view & crystal maze carpark. GOOD LUCK if you stay here.
