La Isla y El Mar, Hotel Boutique

What a beautiful hotel this is. We have stayed in PDC several times but this exceeds them all. We stayed in the 900 block which had a partial sea view and was very quiet. The rooms are super clean and spacious, with Rituals toiletries in the bathroom. Sun loungers and chairs on the terrace which is a nice touch for choice. The pool area has plenty of sun loungers too and a nice chill out area with double beds, there was always loungers available anytime of the day. Pool towels are provided free of charge.It’s an adult only establishment which is quiet and tranquil. Breakfast had plenty of selection from cooked breakfast, pastries, cheese, yoghurts, fruit and a separate menu included cooked fresh to order such as eggs Benedict and omelettes. We also ate once in the a la carte one evening which served delicious food and cocktails. It’s set in the old town close to plenty of amenities, highly recommend this hotel.

Great location

Firstly we cannot state how much we enjoyed our stay, from check in to check out 10 days later, a few ******* but easily rectified and I’ll detail them later. Arrival: JET2 yet again had delays which meant we didn’t arrive until after 11pm, so no Cava or juice on arrival, however to the hotels credit they offered to get some for us but we declined as we were tired, check in was a breeze and we were escorted to our room with no fuss. The Room: 206 We had an Excellence suite, sea view and WOW at 1st glance it was huge, 2 big rooms divided by a central bathroom, massive TV in each room which showed channels 1-5 UK and news channels, bed was a king in size and very comfy. Loads of wardrobe space, tea/coffee, fridge, all soft drinks are free and they wont replenish other than water if you decide to use it for your own drinks/food, Bathroom was big with a walk in shower very well set out, the balcony whilst small was adequate for our needs. Grounds: immaculate well maintained and clean, Food/Breakfast: Massive selection, rotated regularly so it doesn’t go stale/warm top quality. Be aware the breakfast menu is not all you can order, ask the girls for any type of eggs poached, scrambled, fried etc and they’ll get chefs to sort it. Pool area: The pool was quite small and only to waist height but it suited the hotel and had a Seperate Spa type area to it which was nice, all beds were huge with big padded mattresses and never had a problem getting one. Pool bar whilst small suited the needs and food was lovely. Location: Location is ideal, just far enough away to be quiet but walkable to shops, bars, restaurants but be aware the hotel is situated on a steep hill so if you have mobility issues I would look into this, however the hotel itself was fully kitted out with lifts, chairs, ramps/slopes actually on site. Staff: So professional, polite and courteous, couldn’t fault them at all. *******: For us the room after a few days of being in it showed signs of wear and tear, cracks, damage to walls, scratches on tables, shower made bathroom floor wet on every use so had to put towels down. And our biggest gripe was that our particular room unlike most others was only accessible by a flight of stairs which led onto a sliding see thru door with nowhere to hang the don’t disturb sign other than when someone comes to your room and can look directly into your room, this is awkward if just had a shower and the cleaner arrives?? This is easily rectified with a small gate at top of stairs that you could hang the sign on for instance! In summary other than minor ******* this is a top hotel and we will be back in September, a few minor tweaks and 5 stars is fully justified.

This place is an unbelievable place to stay everything about it is five star there are no negatives you can give to this hotel the rooms/suites are unbelievably spacious and well designed with lovely furnishings and attention to detail, the staff are faultless and and very attentive and friendly from the minute you walk into the place until the minute you walk out the staff can not do enough for you and genuinely seem like they enjoy working there. Breakfast choice is vast and beautifully displayed, with choice to order extras which are made to order such as eggs cooked any way you want, pancakes, waffles etc. pool area is well designed and double sunbeds are a great addition, food and drink at the bar is cheap and food there is lovely If there was this hotel in every resort they would be no decisions to be made where to stay. The staff can not be commended enough.

This was our second time staying at La Isla Y El Mar and I have to say it did not disappoint. The staff were excellent, especially the waiting staff in the restaurant who had to put up with a couple of muppets moaning at them. They handled the petty complaints very well with professionalism and calm.

This was our second time at this hotel, having visited at the same time last year. As before we had a great stay for a week. There was initially a minor mix-up over our pick-up from the airport, which we had booked in advance. There was no car to meet and greet us as we had booked. But when we phoned the hotel, they quickly sorted it out by paying for a taxi there and then. Also when we arrived at reception, they gave us an upgrade from an ocean-view room to a deluxe suite with a private jacuzzi. Much more than we expected. So a great start to a great week. Everything about this small intimate hotel is excellent, the original eco-design, the rooms and facilities, the Kentia gourmet restaurant and cocktail bar, the locally-inspired planting and most of all the friendly helpful staff. They are all highly trained to give individual care and attention. The hotel was fully booked whilst we were there, so occasionally, the pool-bar staff became a little overwhelmed by guest requests. A simple solution would be at least 3 or 4 staff on duty during busy times or a dedicated pool boy/girl for sunbeds etc. A very minor fault in an otherwise perfect hotel. If you want 5 star in Lanzarote - La Isla Yel Mar is the place.

My Wife & I have just returned from a fantastic week in the La Isla Y El Mar Hotel. This was our second visit this year as we were also there in March. Everything about this hotel is perfect, from initial check in, the rooms are spacious, comfortable, luxurious & most of all spotless. We stayed in a pool view room. The pool area is spacious with very comfortable double sunbeds all around which were plentiful. The food & drink in the poolside bar was excellent & great service. The buffet breakfast is top class & a huge selection. We have travelled far & wide but could honestly say the biggest compliment we could give the La Isla Y El Mar Hotel is that their staff are second to none. Every member always had a very pleasant jovial tone & manner even if only passing by but if anything was requested or needed it was done instantly. From our point of view a very special mention would have to go to Tullio & Marios in reception, these guys are the ultimate in customer service, happy in the job & a 100% dedication to customer service, but with a tone & manner that makes you feel that you are the only guest there. We would return for these guys alone. We are looking forward to another trip in October.
