A peaceful Methodist based Retreat with manicured grounds and places for prayer and reflection. Walking paths by the water, contemplation sites, and spanish moss draped trees. Frederica River views and amazing ambiance!

My hubby booked us for my birthday weekend. It was a stormy Saturday when we arrived, but we found our room to be clean comfy, and dry. Our stay was in a King room at Turner Lodge overlooking the Frederica River. However, the real draw at Epworth is not the rooms, but the awesomely peaceful setting, with its amazing, natural scenery and historic island architecture. Beautiful centuries-old live oaks, walking trails, a prayer Chapel, a museum, on-site meeting rooms, the beautiful Frederica River, and for the more adventurous--group activities like wall climbing, zip lining, etc., are all available to guests. Although I am not Methodist, as a Christian, I was delighted to learn that Epworth is affiliated with a major Methodist organization. Because it's such a beautiful place, we weren't surprised to see a bridal party preparing for some very memorable photos. Totally worth the drive and the price was a fraction of what some other Golden Isles resorts charge. Definitely plan to return!
