First I would like to recognize Ally and Brian the shuttle drivers. They were always polite and knowledgeable. Then there was Luna on the night shift who always had a helping hand. Daniel in housekeeping was also very helpful and hard working. This hotel had a wonderful hot breakfast and the preparer was quick and always cleaning up. They scrubbed and Disinfected the break room area beyond what I have ever seen before. Kudos to the housekeeping team. Did I mention the shuttle service? That’s worth the stay in its self. We will return here if we ever come back to Salt Lake City.

We’re only a couple days into our stay and I’m frustrated and disappointed. The frustration started with the check in process. We arrived early and knew a room may not be available. We were told we would receive a text message as soon as one was cleaned and ready. We sat in the lobby adjacent, just 20 feet away from the desk waiting. We observe several people leaving the counter with room keys in hand. Some friends of ours checked in while we were sitting in the lobby and were given a room with a $25 early check in fee. That was never offered to us. I approached the desk to inquire why we hadn’t received a text message if a room became available and why people arriving after us were given rooms. No good answer BUT good news they have a room. I inquire about the microwave I had reserved weeks prior. Oh those are all spoken for sorry. Get to our room, it only has 1 bed I called down to the desk and was asked if I had touched anything in the room upon entering. I was asked to return to the front desk to get my new room keys. Upon entering our room we notice it’s rather warm. Fiddle with the thermostat unit which is set to 65 and there’s no difference in the fan speed between high medium and low. Next day call the front desk to request AC service and fresh towels. Nothing. Called again. Nothing. Next morning, called again and received towels. Supposedly the air was fixed while we were out for the day, but nothing has changed in regards to comfort. The pillows are terrible and the beds are on the soft side. The hotel is ready for some upgrades as the carpet is worn and dirty throughout the hallways. The housekeeping staff was friendly and helpful, oh and one housekeeper was able to find me a microwave that the front desk staff insisted was not available. Hmmm

We stayed here for a national competition since this is one of the Hotels that was sanctioned by the organizers. The lack of service was just apparent from checkin all the way to everyday interaction. When we checked-in, I already felt the lack of appreciation for their guests as I never felt welcome from the get go. I was not acknowledge about being an IHG rewards member and welcomed at the Hotel. I must add though that when buying things in their marketplace, the interaction of charging our things with the front desk was fast and seamless so that is a positive. Also leading to our stay, I did have phone interaction with some of their staff for my reservation and they have been very helpful and accommodating so was surprised with my current experience here. There are no safebox to store some of your valuables and when I asked the front desk I was just told they have none in a lazy way without effort of providing alternatives or if they can help in any other way. Our first day, they locked breakfast area right at 9:30 sharp without letting the people already eating that they are closing. When we inquired with one of the staff, they replied in a kind of a rude way that ”when its close, its closed”. I could understand the policy but they would not even hear about suggestion of simply announcing that they are closing the breakfast area for last call so people could have a chance to get their last servings if needed. They also literally, close off the breakfast area while people are still eating almost like telling everyone to get out. I think this shows lack of service and professionalism with no empathy to their guests. it does look like they treat their guests as like burglars to close/lock off their breakfast area. For rooms, the area is a little bit smaller compared to some area hotels but typical of a Holiday Inn property so no complains there. Our rooms did not have issue(so far fingers crossed) but a lot of people in our group had room issues. Some have their locks not working after checkins and they have to work on fixing them and someone from our group was given a room that was still occupied. They have 2 gyms in different floors but smaller compared to other gyms from different hotels. They have a sauna and a pool so another positive. I am still checked in and staying for 5 more days so will update the review later but If not for our team choosing to stay on this Hotel I would have checked out and moved to Hilton across the street where we have a very positive experience a few years ago with the same competition.

If you're looking for somewhere in the heart of downtown, this is it. For the price you pay, the service is great and the room feels spacious. Beds were comfy! Only down side is how the bathrooms were on the smaller end. But otherwise, no complaints!

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We were to be departing Salt Lake City and my mother fell and broke her hip at the airport. The hospital recommended this hotel to us because it was close to the hospital and they gave a medical discount. The staff was so accommodating and helpful and it was 2 miles from the hospital my mother was in. The breakfast was great and room was so nice and spacious for me and my father or sister whichever one if us that wasn’t staying at the hospital with mom. It was much nicer than another hotel that we had stayed at in Salt Lake City Earlier. I highly recommend this to anyone staying in Salt Lake City for any reason.

I had a stay Feb 5-6, 2023 for a ground floor room w/ a single bed because I'm 100% handicapped from my military service during Vietnam. I called Microtel twice on 2/1 & again on 2/4, to confirm that I had a 1 bed ground floor rm. Both times the clerks assured me that it was in their system. I showed up Feb 5th around 3:30pm, & was told by the rude female desk clerk that there's no ground floor rooms available. I told her that I had called twice on different days & was assured that the notes were in the system. She finally checked again & put me in a ground floor room, that wasn't very clean, but I accepted it, since there wasn't any other ground floor rooms available according to her. That evening the room above me kept dropping things, & it sounded like being in a bowling alley w/ the loud noises. Later, a family came in the room next door to me, & the kids started yelling, screaming & pounding on the walls. I called the front desk a couple of times, but no answer. It finally stopped around 10pm. The next morning, I went to take a shower. There wasn't any hot water, & the soap & shampoo dispensers were empty. I called the front desk & again, no answer. Afterward, a Mexican guy apparently had a key to my room & came in, w/o knocking or anything. He looked surprised when he saw me, & started speaking Spanish. I asked who he was & why he came in my room, but just talked Spanish. When I went to the front desk & confronted the clerk (the same rude clerk that checked me in the day before) about this guy having a key to enter my room, she said it MAY be the maintenance guy. I then asked, ”Why didn't he say he's maintenance or staff or have hotel ID on him?” She claimed she didn't know. I filed a complaint w/ the mgr thru the clerk, & he finally sent me a email 3 days later saying he couldn't do anything about the noise from other guests. Nothing about the other issues, like no hot water, soap or shampoo, or why the guy had a key to enter my rm. No offer of a refund or some sort of compensation. Do not stay at this Microtel !!

This is a great place to stay. I’ve stayed here several times for a night at a time, when flying out the next day. They have an amazing Mongolian Beef rice bowl, great beds+pillows.. It’s clean, friendly, and best of all great service. Today I flew in in a snowstorm. The shuttle driver took me right to my car, so I wouldn’t have to drag my suitcase through the slush in the parking lot, then he put my suitcase in my trunk, AND brushed the snow off my car. Seriously? All my stays here have been great, but this one was above and beyond. It’s a gem, a well kept secret. Part of me didn’t want to write this because I don’t want it to be difficult to book in the future. My only suggestion is perhaps the desk attendant could give customers a map with their room marked. Sometimes finding the room is difficult due to the way it’s laid out. For me this is a minimal complaint and the rest of this establishment makes up for it!

Classic. 2 beds, frigo and microwave. Flat TV. Clean. Aside parking cinema but well soundless. Think to cut the air conditioning because it is very noisy. I was recently in The Salt Lake City area. I flew there, rented a car and took a roadtrip in Utah, Idaho, Colorado and New Mexico. I stayed at this location on a Friday then a Sunday. I'm big on checking reviews and the reviews here were great. The price was higher than I'd like but the reviews were too good to pass it up. This hotel was great! It is well worth the price. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet. The first night I was without a car so I had to walk around to find a nearby grocery store, gas station and restaurants. I felt very safe walking around the area even after dark. The rooms had a regular curtain and a blackout curtain in the window. The blackout curtain worked very well. The breakfast was amazing! I would have been happy if I had paid for it but it is free of charge. The first morning it was scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, sausage links and hash browns. The second morning I was there it was more of a breakfast burrito kind of scrambled eggs, bacon (very fatty which is a huge plus for me!), and hash browns. One thing to know in advance is they have discontinued their shuttle service. This did not hurt my review at all but it is important to know before you arrive. The area is a bit of a public transportation dead zone. Not really. They exist. I got the feeling that North Salt Lake is close enough to Salt Lake City that they don't feel the need to offer much public transportation to that area but further north does have more options. This is important because I brought a cab from the airport the first night, and this might all be on me for not exploring all my cab options, but I felt bamboozled by the rates. This might be every taxi company there but I was charged over $8 per mile for that ride. It was a 9 mile distance from the airport so I'll let you do the math. So the following day when I went to pick up my rental car I took public transportation. It took a bus and the train to get me to the airport. For the price you couldn't beat it but I found it to be a bit too much. Of course that isn't the hotel's fault but the shuttle would have been a way to avoid all that. If I ever come back to Salt Lake City I would absolutely stay at this hotel. I love it and the surrounding neighborhood.
