Overall, we felt very comfortable in the hotel. It was clean and the service was good. All of our requests were fulfilled, such as renting a parasol or having breakfast outside of regular hours. The location is very central and a few meters from the beach. The hotel also had several pools and roof terraces that were very pleasantly designed. Our room also had a sea and city view with a spacious balcony. The room furnishings were functional and the bed was very comfortable (king size plus). The breakfast was varied, there was a good selection of fresh fruit, and the coffee was also very good. Most of the guests were English, but the atmosphere was relaxed and uncomplicated. We would definitely recommend the hotel.

Where do I start. It might read a bit like War & Peace. This is not a whinge or a moan. Wait until the last paragraph, it will blow your mind. I have tried to keep this an objective and truly honest review of the Bahia Del Sol Hotel, its staff, ammenties, rooms and food. Delusions of grandeur spring to mind. At best a 3 star, at worst a 2 star. My wife and I arrived here on the 1st of September 2024, a day before our wedding anniversary. The only positive thing to happen on the whole trip was the unexpected upgrade of our room from a Quadruple to a Suite. We asked for a kettle on the first day. 6 days in...no kettle. There is a distinct smell of sewage that wofts through the hotel on a daily basis from the street outside. Staff can be friendly if they apply themselves, but most are unattentive and seem put out if you even ask what seems the most trivial on things. Its like they don't want to be there and can't wait to finish and go home. Remember the saying 'Service with a Smile'...It's doesn't exist here. Food and amenities are below average for what they tout as a 4 star establishment. Menu variety is limited and repetitive on a daily basis. Our upgraded room is lovely. Wi-fi is either terribly slow, and I mean slow or non existent. I ended up paying for data roaming as an extra with our provider. It was either that, or acquire a couple of carrier pigeons. We have stayed in various hotels in Santa Ponsa over the years and this is by far the worst. We stayed all inclusive, but were told we would have to pay to use the Skybar on the 6th floor. Why?? Whats the difference between getting drinks at the main bar or the Skybar apart from 6 floors. Maybe you have to pay for the privilege of drinking at altitude? Who knows, your guess is as good as mine. On our previous visits to Santa Ponsa we have stayed in the likes of H10 and the Rey Don Jaime, and would have stayed in either one if not fully booked. Both of which put the Hotel Bahia Del Sol to shame in every way from food, staff, accommodation, amenities and entertainment. The latter of which does not exist in the Bahia Del Sol. It has the potential to be so much more, but it seems, a lack of enthusiasm and leadership from hotel management is taking its toll on staff morale and motivation. Don't approach staff about trivial things, like eggs to have with your salad at lunch or dinner as we encountered 3 times whilst here. There was me thinking eggs were a staple, along with milk and butter, how wrong I was. Bread stale. Soup was on intermittently. I think it all depended on whether the chef on at the time was in his or her happy place. Good customer service within the hospitality sector can be hard to achieve and it can sometimes seem like a lonely career choice. Believe me, both my wife and I worked in it. We stayed for 7 nights, 6th to 13th August. The hotel is very stylish, clean and peaceful. We stayed in a Jacuzzi Room on the 3rd floor. The views are fantastic of the marina and beach and the terrace had approx 14 hours of sun a day. If you need shade, there is a remote control awning. The room is very spacious with a huge bathroom. The aircon was reasonable, we did not feel overly hot overnight. The bed is massive and very comfortable. Housekeeping is a very high standard. The restaurant at breakfast and for all other meals is excellent. Food/menu choices are very wide ranging and beautifully presented and tasty. The evening menu was not overly expensive. The waiting staff are so professional and polite. It is obvious that they are very well trained. We also ate at a few restaurants in the marina and they were all great. The shuttle service provided by the hotel is excellent, just message the driver and he is collecting us from the marina in two minutes. However we only knew this was available after reading Trip Adviser, the receptionist did not inform us and we had to ask for the number. The swimming pool is perfect and there is an abundance of sun beds so no need to get up early to reserve them. The pool bar is hit and miss. 50% of the time there is nobody there to serve you. Quite annoying when you are thirsty! The thing that let down our experience somewhat was the maintenance of services to our room. Five minutes after checking into our room water started pouring from the ceiling. It took 20 minutes for the maintenance team to arrive and another 10 minutes for them to fix it, so it delayed our unpacking. When we tried to use the jacuzzi on our terrace it would not switch on. Another maintenance man had to be called to fix it. On two of the seven nights we had no running water, so we could not take a shower or flush the toilet. It took almost an hour for this to be fixed. Additionally over the seven nights we had about 10 power cuts. These lasted up to 20 mins in some cases. Our room keys needed resettting. When we went to reception to get them fixed there was no attempt at an apology. One evening we did get a bottle of wine sent to the room, we assume this was to make up for all the maintenance issues. Overall it is a beautiful hotel, but given the price we paid we should not have to encounter all those issues.
