This scary hotel is located inconveniently, just 20 mins away from old town and most attractions. Upon first arrival, you will notice the decorative litter placed around the property, the under manicured landscape, as well as the unwelcoming neighborhood surrounding this museum of what used to be a really okay hotel 200 years ago. The staff had a hard time finding my reservation but made up for it by giving me ample time to read thru all the travel brochures ... Twice. They insisted we approve the condition of the room before fully checking in. To my surprise, the only complaint was a small stain on one of the sheets and the need for an extra towel... we couldn't have been more wrong. We decided to make the best of it as we were only planning on taking showers and then laying in a drunken coma for a few hours before continuing our trip. However, as time went on we learned new ways and discovered new levels of the size of our mistake. After new sheets, reattaching the shower head, leveling the mini-fridge, removing the towel from the freezer, balancing the table (which had two of it's legs tapped together with actual scotch tape) and killing a few roaches, we decided to just get ready and leave for the night. We had a great night! We arrived back to the hotel around midnight to simply stop in and then head back out. We found out both room keys were not working so we called the after hours number as the office was locked. A man answered and could barely understand what room we were in. After waiting, calling back multiple times, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the hood for 30 mins or so, we were greeted by Grumpy and told that we could not get new keys until the morning because the office was closed so no going back out. We slept.. it was also ... Okay! The next morning we got up and left early due to the absence of coffee in the room. We sighed realizing we couldn't even steel any lotion or shampoo as none was provided. We even took notice of the missing kitchen ware normally provided in an extended stay establishment. We drove away ignoring our mirrors and both agreed that we would never stay at any location, suburban might have. You do so at your own risk!
