My wife and I stayed at The Grand back on 25/03/22 and we were so impressed that we just had to return. The staff are still helpful and friendly, the food is excellent and the room we stayed in was impressive. It was clean, comfy and had just been decorated and fitted with a power shower. The seagulls on our window sill could be quite noisy, but remember we are at the seaside! We paid £200 in total for bed, breakfast and evening meal, which I found to be excellent value. Disregard all the negative reports that you read about this hotel, make a visit and decide for yourself. Perhaps, if these people want 5 star, that will have to pay 5 star prices. We will certainly be visiting The Grand again.

I have just returned home from a Majestic Holiday stay at the above venue .I am going to be honest the room we stayed in was clean had fresh linen on arrival ,comfortable and quiet .It is a old hotel but the communal areas were good ranging from a grand foyer to a clean friendly reception .I have no criticism of the breakfast food and range of items,it was good.On the other hand the main meals were stodgy no inventive bland overcooked limited vegetables chicken legs that looked that they had come off very old birds pork steaks rubbery chewy and tasteless .On the last night I had scampi which was very good this was the only one of the 4 night meals I had whicn was worth eating.The sad thing is for dessert that night was I had with tinned fruit the poorest custard I have ever eaten watery made with just hot water and limited custard powder that is my last memory of the restaurant. .The bar was good earlier in the week the gentleman and the mature lady were very good hardworking and pleasant .The prices in the bar very reasonable the Tetley beer well looked after.The only team member who disturbed me was on the last night was DICK TURPIN a scruffy abrupt man wearing a black hand kerchief as a mask, did he have Covid making the bar team look like farce this did not give that area a very professional look.On checkout Imust congratulate the reception team who all holiday were attentive polite and professional..I have been truthful about this venue

Amazing B&B with fantastic sea View. The room was spacious and beautiful, very clean with king bed. They used pillow protectors and mattress protector that’s making our stay even better, we really appreciate ot. (Room no.10). The bathroom was big with a great shower and the water flow was very generous. They also provided with white bathrobes. The amenities you needed in the bathroom included hand soap, shower cap, sewing kits, organic shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The breakfast was delicious and also continental breakfast was available (self service). We ordered our breakfast the night before which was perfect for us and we ordered what we needed. We love our cup of tea and they provided in the room with Yorkshire tea, green tea and herbal tea, biscuits, many type of coffees and also hot chocolate. Thank you to Luki she was very kind, friendly and attentive toward us, was always there for us when we needed her. It was our first time in Scarborough we really enjoyed our 3 night stay at The Helaina, we loved the walked from the South Bay to the North Bay, we also explored the area we enjoyed immensely being in the Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby Abbey. It We loved seafood while we were there we went to the Look out on the Piere twice, it was that good, make sure to book in advance. We loved the B&B we’ll come back. We had an amazing stay. Sadly had three rooms due to some issues reguardless how clean they were and a smell coming from the bathroom, third room was ok and had a nice view over looking the sea and Scarborough harbour, pool and spa a nice touch and the staff were all friendly plenty of choice on the menu for food, just needs to address a few issues to make this worthy of it's 4 star rating and that to me should be considered luxury where as this felt more just above average but not luxury 3.5 / 5 location amazing staff amazing let down by the fire alarm going off which steam was to blame air vents were dirty this needs looking at, house keeping need to work more alongside maintenance to ensure issues are addressed. Safe in second room was broken but maintenance did sort this and were very friendly, reception and spa staff all excellent, can't comment on the food but had plenty of choice and had we not made plans we would of considered the curry night the hotel had on. Over all 3.5 / 5

Terrible weekend stay at this hotel, very dirty, exisiting guests dirty pants in the room and poor service! Arrived just before teatime. 2 adults/2young children. Had 2 towels in room for a family if 4 and no toilet rolls. Asked reception to sort whilst we went out for tea. Came back in the evening ready for bed and realised the room hadn't actually been cleaned. Smears across the mirrors, dirt on carpet, just poor. The final straw for me was when I went into the bathroom and closed the door behind me (after putting my children to bed). I saw a used pair of mens underpants on the floor under the radiator. I was mortified, I went down to reception at 10pm and asked them to come and remove them. Not happy at all! They offered to swap me rooms the next day as they were full that night. We were on a 2 night stay, so I requested the room be fully cleaned the next day. The bar manager here is rude, he refused to re-make me a vodka, lime and lemonade which didnt taste right. He told me it would taste the same if he made it again so refused to. Yes I got a refund, but i wanted a drink not a refund. I sat with my husband and kids while they finished their drink and we left. Breakfast was OK, if you didn't want a fried egg. The staff brought out a mini tray of 6-8 eggs to feed approx 50 people. Outcome Yes, I recieved a credit for £49, the room cost for the 2 nights was £208. This is disgraceful! No-one in their right mind would pay a penny to stay in a dirty room! I would also like to add that their complaints process is very poor, again not happy with their offer of £49, however when I advised this, apparently its the most they can do. I will most certainly be avoiding this particular hotel, and other Premier Inn Hotels in future.
