Best Western Plus Shamrock Inn Suites

This motel is just off the Interstate and across the bridge from downtown. There's a small reception area and a larger breakfast area. We had a lower floor king room. The mattress was firm but not rock hard. We asked for a place to eat and were told the Mesquite Canyon steak house; unfortunately, we weren't told that everything in Shamrock, on Sunday, is closed, with the exception of MacDonald's. So we had a big Mac. Poor substitute for a steak. Morning came and we were greeted with an offer to cook eggs to order. Wow! Most of the time, it's powdered scrambled eggs. The breads were wrapped in paper, both to preserve moistness and add cleanliness. Nice touch! The hostess was involved with the guests and we enjoyed that. Not likely that we'll stay in Shamrock again, but the Best Western will be our choice if we do.
Shamrock Country Inn

The rooms were in excellent condition and spotlessly clean, with everything in good working order. From the reservation until checkout, the owners and staff were friendly and accommodating. When we checked in, I mentioned we were heading out for dinner, and the person at the front desk immediately volunteered to ensure the air conditioner was on so the room would be cool when we returned, as for the BS complaints below. The area of town was not an issue; it was safe. The hotel is just down from the U-Drop Inn, along with the other Route 66 motels. It's a lot safer than on an Interstate exit with smash-and-grab thieves. As for breakfast, it was simple but good. You are stupid if you expect a high-end breakfast for around $50 per night. Go to another motel, pay more than twice as much, and you will get more options. Before booking this motel, we checked prices and reviews and would book again in a minute. For the record, there were 24 cars in the parking lot of a 28-room motel on a Thursday night in July. Thank You for a clean, safe, comfortable and pleasant stay.

I enjoyed my stay here. I was cozy, comfortable. Manager Jay at the front desk was very helpful. The town itself is small and not incredibly modern, but it is high on the safety index, the people are friendly and they even have a nice supermarket.

This is a neat little motel on Route 66, hence the name. The room was excellent. It was very clean. The bathroom was clean, with everything you needed in there. The sink, which is a not in the bathroom, was clean, also, with everything you need there. The beds were great. Not a bad price for a holiday weekend starting the next day. What really amazed me was how nice the gentleman was, checking in and checking out. I would surely stay again. Most important to us, they were pet friendly. There is nothing like planning your vacation around your dog.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Shamrock North

This is a brand new hotel and is in very good shape. Probably the nicest hotel on this stretch of I40/Route 66 amidst the many (and very variable) repurposed Route 66 era motels. The breakfast was good. The room lovely. Only complaints were that check-in took 24 minutes; clerk couldn't figure out how to change reservation to a different credit card. No real desk chair in the room. And while it was easy to hook the computer to the tv, the internet was very slow and sometimes simply cut out (which made trying to do some work in the morning impossible)
