Check-in (5/5) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The staff was friendly and helpful. Despite the language barrier, the staff has a translator machine on the desk which helps themselves to translate what they want to say and what you want to say. This can be easily done by talking to the translator machine. The girl was polite in handling our check-in. Cleanliness (5/5)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The rooms we stayed are clean and cleaned by cleaning staff. The floor condition is very good and clean. Normally in some hotels, the floor isn’t cleaned daily, and slippers are provided. Smoke free 🚭 (3.5/5) ⭐️⭐️ Not a major issue, but can be an issue if there are guests who may be smoking in the vicinity. So it is not entirely smoke free, but it’s little to no smoking in the area. Noise-level ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The sound proofing is excellent, no issue in wall isolation. Location ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The location is great for elderly that are poor in directions and people who are visiting here for first time or more. It is close to East Nanjing Road which is the long street of shopping and tourist stores. Check-out ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Quick and simple. Xiao Chen helped with the check-out. Apparently Xiao Chen also assisted my mother in providing tourist metro pamphlet which helps elderly people know the metro/subway. This is handy because a lot of elderly people are not very tech-savvy in tech or different apps which they have to download for first time. Improvements There were a few issues on maintenance where it is mainly related to water issue, plumbing/drainage and walls contracting that some doors in the building not being able to close properly. Not a major issue but something to consider.

The hotel is in a great location with access to shops and food. It is minutes walk away from The People’s Square with easy access to the metro. I love the artwork in the hallways. We booked a double with no windows. If you plan on staying out late, that’s actually great for sleeping in. There is an amazing hole in the wall restaurant with Shanghai staples next door as well as a Family Mart.

The room is very spacious. The location is right on Nanjing Road, making it super easy to find places to eat, shop, or buy souvenirs. The breakfast was decent with a good variety of options.

I randomly picked this hotel for a business trip, and it completely exceeded my expectations – a pleasant surprise! The location is incredibly convenient, and the service quality of this long-standing hotel is truly exceptional. Many of the staff members are locals from Shanghai, and they are all incredibly friendly and approachable. You can always see many international guests around the hotel, which clearly indicates that it's consistently busy. The overall experience was fantastic, and I highly recommend it!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were welcoming, professional, and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. As a pleasant surprise, they gave me a complimentary room upgrade, which made my trip even more enjoyable. The room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, and the overall service was excellent throughout my stay. I really appreciated the attention to detail and the genuine hospitality shown by the team. The room was okay-ish, i choose the room with window so it does not feel so stuffy. The water pressure is the best and no clogging in the bathroom. As we only need the room for sleeping, we do not care too much about the amenities. Overall was okay. The best about this hotel is its location, very near to Xinzha road metro. And bonus point, in front of this hotel just opposite the road has aunty selling groceries is sooo friendly and she opens her shop very early morning till very late at night.

If you travel in Shanghai, in my opinion this hotel is one of your best choices. The room is clean and comfortable, and also which is the most important thing is it is very convincing for visitor to find it. And almost all the famous places for visitor that must have a visit are just nearby the hotel. It is on the Nanjing Road and you can just walk to the Waitan and Lujiazui very convinice to visitors. Last I really wanna show my sincerely thanks to all staffs especially Mr.Jimmy Zhu and Staff No.078 staff. During our staying, they really showed their professionalism and helped us a lot. As a visitor, I really appreciate it and thanks.

After a long day, a hot bath washes away travel fatigue. The amenities truly live up to the standard of a well-established luxury hotel. The geographical location is undoubtedly the hotel's strongest asset. Situated in the city center, Huangpu District, it's within walking distance of key attractions like People's Square, The Bund, and Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. Stepping out, you're right in the vibrant streets of Shanghai, making transportation incredibly convenient for sightseeing and dining. Of course, a century-old building will inevitably bear the marks of time. Compared to newly built hotels, the room layouts here have a unique retro charm. But this unparalleled sense of historical atmosphere is precisely the most precious gift the Yangtze Hotel offers. If you're tired of generic chain hotels and wish to understand Shanghai in a different way, the Yangtze Hotel is an excellent choice. Here, you're not just staying in a room; you're living a forgotten chapter of the city's past, a gentle reunion with old Shanghai.

The room was very clean and had no strange odors. All the staff were very friendly. I booked a twin room, and the front desk upgraded us to a family room for free when they saw my husband and I had a child. When we were checking out, my husband asked me to buy some water, and the front desk overheard and gave us two bottles of mineral water for free. The service was really thoughtful. The most important thing is that this hotel has a great location. It's only about a 20 RMB Didi ride to the Bund, and the People's Square subway station is just a few hundred meters away. Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street is also very close. Even better, this hotel is very close to the Shanghai International Trade Hotel Bakery, just two blocks away. The beef noodles downstairs are delicious and cheap, only 16 RMB a bowl, and they're open until 1 AM. There's also a Shanghai soup dumpling place downstairs that's very tasty, and many celebrities have visited it. This is my honest review, and I hope it helps future travelers.

We were very happy with our stay at this hotel! First of all, we would like to mention the very friendly, helpful, and attentive staff. They were always ready to assist us whenever we needed help. The staff also helped with our luggage, which was especially appreciated after a long journey. The location is very convenient — the hotel is located right next to the pedestrian street, so it’s easy to step outside and immediately find yourself in the heart of the walking area. The only small downside is that it was a little difficult to find the hotel at first, but if you follow the landmarks and directions provided, it’s manageable. There is also complimentary tea available at the reception, which was a nice little touch. The price is very reasonable, especially considering the location and overall service. The room was comfortable and cleaned every day. We stayed in a room with a “smart bed,” which was absolutely perfect after a long day of walking around and exploring. It really helped us relax and recover after a busy day. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would definitely be happy to stay here again.
