Hotels in Hongqiao District, Shanghai

I had a great stay at The Golden Tulip. The first I was given had a really foul smell, extremely stuffed and moldy but I went down to the concierge and asked for a room switch. Which they did give me and the next one smelt okay. The service was good. Room was okay for the price considering it’s in Shanghai and it’s not too far from The Bund area. Around 20 mins by car could be more depending on the traffic. I’d definitely stay here again! This was my second time actually but it was even way better a few years ago.

The location was great before and now it's perfect with the opening of Livat, one of the largest malls in Shanghai. It's a few minutes from the Metro station. The service is also good, the staffs always welcome you with a smile and a ”hi”. The room is clean and spacious. Highly recommended. Will stay again.

Five star rating! The staff's warm reception and efficient check-in made me feel at home. My room is clean and equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, including high-speed Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV and premium bedding, ensuring I have a perfect rest. The on-site dining options are extensive and every dish is mouth-watering, and the professional and attentive service staff adds to the pleasure of dining. berry is an excellent staff member. In addition, the hotel's fitness center has excellent facilities, which is an ideal place for me to relax. What impressed me most was the professionalism and service attitude of the hotel staff. Whether it was room service or concierge service, they all focused on the needs of the guests and provided personalized service, which made me feel a truly distinguished experience. The hotel is conveniently located and we look forward to visiting again in the near future.

In general i feel good. but i have 2 points would like to tell : 1. we would like to book your conference room for our 2.5 days meeting during our visit. But we cancelled our idea as we found that it was very expensive. We cannot understand why we cannot get a good offer even we stay at your hotel. 2. For the 1st morning that we ordered wonton at breakfast time. The lady was so unlike to make. Her face should us that she really really not happy to make it. we really could not understand why she was so unhappy. we though that she may not in good mood at that day. But it was happened again . we really did not know what happened with her. until the last day of our breakfast. We were so happy that she was not there but a young ***. He was so nice to make wonton for us. These are our comments for this trip. Thanks.

The hotel is a mix of old and new. By this, I mean you can tell that some areas are worn from over the years and some parts of it you can tell they have made effort to try and restore. We stayed in this hotel a few days before heading to Disneyland and then back to the hotel for one final night stay. We asked if we could leave our luggage at their storage room and that was no problem at all. There is a mix of English speaking staff at the lobby, so be prepared to have Wechat translate to hand just in case. We were lucky with the staff we spoke to and language barrier wasn’t a problem. For our first stay, we stayed in a room at the 18th floor and it wasn’t fancy but just what we needed. Windows outside were dirty but it didn’t bother us, since it’s outside. We booked the 2 bed room suite. There was a living space for the adults to relax while the kids sleep in the bedroom at night. I liked that you could actually control the heating and it wasn’t too drying compared to previous and more fancy places we stayed in Shanghai. There’s a washing machine so you can wash clothes when packing light. It is only a washing machine and not a dryer. They provide washing powder (free) and a hanging clothes rail, you just need to call reception and ask. In the kitchen there is an induction hob but no pots or pans are provided. It didn’t bother us, since we had breakfast included with our stay. There was sufficient selection for breakfast. If you go a bit later, certain foods are not replenished. I think they were understaffed the first day of our stay, lots of tables were free but they had dirty dishes on all of them, so we had to ask someone to clean a table for us. The following days were fine. Fruits were left in our room after each clean. On our stay back, we stayed in a room on the 15th floor for one night. They should not let people stay in that room, especially with kids. Parts of the wall of the bathroom is very damp and the wall’s paint was crumbling. The plumbing was not great either, the drain in the main shower room came off and it was just bare concrete and a hole exposed. You could hear water flowing all through the night so we had to close the bathroom door so we could sleep. Since we mainly just slept that night and checked out early in the morning, we didn’t bother complaining and was in the rush to get to the airport so no pictures were taken.

The hotel is located in a bustling downtown area, making shopping, dining, and entertainment easily accessible. It provides a home-like experience for travelers, with fully equipped rooms that are tastefully decorated, fresh, clean, and tidy. The front desk staff, particularly Xiu Xiu, offers high-quality service. The breakfast variety is rich, and the hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from the subway station. Additionally, there is free parking available. Overall, it offers great value for money and is highly recommended.

The hotel is due for a refresh. The furniture is so old and outdated. The phone is spoilt and you can't dial to the reception. The toilet bowl doesn't flush well.. its so weak and you will be worried that your deliveries won't be flushed.. it make me so stress out. But the reception service is wonderful especially the lady reception. She is very professional and doesn't allow some uncivilised lady to cut queue to check out. Thank you so much.

The location was good and the staff were always polite and friendly, but there were numerous small problems with our hallway and room. The hallway seemed like a construction site. The hotel seems like it would have been very nice when it first opened, but certain aspects have been unattended for some time. - Our TV signal and picture quality was very grainy and the TV size was quite small - The light over the bath was very weak - The light in the cupboard had exposed lighting and the cupboard doors would not close, meaning the light stayed on all night - No handsoap was provided - The light switch system was very complicated, we tried but couldn't turn on a single lamp with having other lights on - The ”View Room”'s view was not much of a view - The laundry was unavailable and the off site laundry service would only arrive after we had checked out While none of these problems are huge, they all contributed to a stay experience that was less than satisfactory considering the price and prestige that I feel the hotel owners are aiming for.

I always use this hotel for my business trip to Shanghai and I am always satisfied with the good location, clean room, and hotel staff’s service. This time especially thank Ms. Nora Liu’s friendly, flexible and attentive service when I checked in.

It would be very hard to find a better option in Shanghai. The location is great and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back when I come back to Shanghai.
