Where to begin. The express transfer took over 3 hours (an alleged 1 hour journey to the hotel), which included a 25 minute stop at a service station, meaning that we missed dinner after arriving at 2115, flight arrived at 1730 and we were outside the terminal by 1750. The first room we were given had to be rejected due to a smell of sewage coming from the bathroom. The 2nd room we were given flooded up to our ankles and we were given a 3rd room, which was a twin, despite our repeated requests for a double bed. The shower was broken and you had to hold it in your hand, with no working extractor fan in the bathroom, which may explain the sewage smells. On our 1st full day we were informed by another guest the hotel manager had punched a complaining guest and was joined by up to 7 other staff members in assaulting the guest in front of his wife and 3 young children. No food was labeled at any time and totally inappropriate for the mealtimes serving marrow, carrots and left over dinner casserole for breakfast, leaving the only warm option as eggs or cold food. No toaster, no bread, only individually packaged bread rolls. and all hot food was more often than not cold unless you went to the restaurant within 30 minutes of it opening. Plenty of desert options, such a shame they were all tasteless unless you wanted fruit. There was no entertainment despite this being a priority of ours and the hotel website advertising this was a daily occurrence. We do not think club level sound Turkish music and staff Turkish dancing constitutes entertainment and when requested to turn the music down so you could hear each other speak the staff said this was their programme and to go and sit down or complain at reception, who couldn’t understand as they did not speak English and I do not know Turkish or German. The rooms did not have enough storage for 2 peoples clothing and was cleaned sporadically. The bed sheets were changed once in 2 weeks. The towels were changed when we found the room cleaners and changed them ourselves, after repeated requests at reception. The floors were cleaned twice in 2 weeks. We managed a warm shower 3 times in the 14 days we were there as hot water seemed to be beyond this hotel. This was if you could get in the room as the key cards constantly failed and we had to go to reception to have them reset. For a 100 room hotel to only have 58 sunbeds around the pool seemed inadequate, but as the pool is surrounded on 3 sides by the hotel and got very little sun, which also promoted algae in the pool, this probably doesn’t matter much. We did not see the pool cleaned once in the time we were there, only the surrounding terrace which was mopped as guests were still at the pool, although you were told you were not allowed in the pool after 1830. No drinks were listed at the bar so you were not aware of what was available and it was impossible to ask the staff as they mostly spoke Turkish or German with little or no English speaking staff in th

Having arrived back home after 10 days in the Akalia Resort and Spa Hotel within Side, Turkey, I would like to share my experiences with the hotel On arrival we were a little over midnight, the receptionist was asleep and has to be woken by myself and the taxi driver, luckily the taxi driver chose to stay with us until we were checked in as the receptionist could not find our booking and was adamant that we were at wrong hotel despite me showing the print out of booking, the taxi driver had to translate for us. However as soon as I asked for a manager, the receptionist miraculously found our booking and gave us our room without any details to help us with our stay (room location, meal times, all inclusive rules etc). Once we located our room, we were quite happy, the terrace faced an open work shed but we agreed that this wouldn't be an issue to us unless there was unwanted visitors looming. In the morning we were reassured that we were staying as with no information previously from reception, we had to check. Breakfast was disappointing, a buffet breakfast is expected but there was foods there that weren't labelled to say what it was but considering this was our first morning we assumed that it was possibly an oversight that day, however as the days went on it became clear food doesn't get labelled. The only fresh food in morning is eggs, the other options were leftover meals from previous days, this would appear to be some form of chicken/meatball/whatever meat in a casserole, potatoes etc. The packaged rolls available were of a very dry nature but was edible when packaged butter was available. Lunch consisted of the leftovers from breakfast, however everyday a woman prepared fresh bread filled with feta cheese that seemed to be a very popular choice to everyone unless you can't eat feta cheese, as the language barrier was an issue. No labels on food Dinner was leftovers again with maybe one dish cooked fresh each night, once again fresh bread with feta cheese made fresh by a chef but no option to have it without. No labels on food. Snacks were not available throughout the day so cannot comment and I was informed by another resident that I could get ice cream at the extra cost of €1 which could only be charged to my room. For all inclusive the drinks were to be expected however cocktails were not permitted during mealtimes, no reason given just told no. Unfortunately there was always an issue with the pepsi machine as staff continuously had to switch it on/off at the wall and the soft drinks were rarely carbonated like you would expect from a machine. On the plus side, water was available without hassle, housekeeping ensured our fridge in room was replenished daily. Entertainment was only available 1 evening out of the 10 nights, unless you count staff playing music via their phones through a speaker, this was inconsistent and sometimes far too loud that it was uncomfortable to sit within the hotel or own rooms, yet when asked to turn it d

If your thinking of booking this hotel don't. Just come back after 2 wks worst holiday i have ever had. Staff do not speak or understand english only german & turkish. food diabolical, chips & nuggets at breakfast!! (other stuff to) upset stomach 1st week confined to hotel, we went out to eat a few times. Really loud head banging music played day & evening, can't even talk to person next to you. Can't get away from it as hear it even in your room. Get insulted if ask to turn down, same music played day in day out. States change bedding and towels every 3 days, they don't, my bin wasn't emptied for 3 days i had to complain to reception. Noisy as hell neighbours tv's all hours, music from room above after midnight & 7am workmen hammering 6.30am. Must say the young man on reception during the day was the best person i came across, understood some english and was very helpful and polite, best member of staff at the hotel. Was advised this was a 4* upgrade with evening entertainment (original hotel booked was closed) no way is this a 4* more like a 1* or 2* and no evening entertainment at all unless you call the atrocious music entertainment.

Terribly dirty rooms. We checked in yesterday, the room is smoky, under the bed someone's things, broken dishes and a lot of garbage. We chose the hotel from a photo on the Internet - this is not at all what it really is.

This hotel could be excellent. All staff work very hard. Food was very nice.. Unfortunately Mehmet, the bar supervisor treats his staff and customers like dogs. He is rude, unprofessional, He should be dismissed. I understand hotel management. My profession is a hotel manager and director of hotel school. Why do you employ a bar supervisor who died not like people?
