Amazing
BBryce van de LaarThe Solymar beach resort is not the most expensive resort in the Hurghada/Safaga area, but it’s also not the cheapest. Because of this, we were expecting it to be quite middle-of-the-range in terms of quality. At every turn, we were pleasantly surprised and delighted. The staff were friendly and courteous - whether at the reception, in the restaurant, or walking past someone watering the grass, you are guaranteed a friendly greeting. Everyone is quick to know their customers - after just a day in our usual spot on the beach, Ahmed knew our usual order. The hyper-energetic Magic Entertainment team members were also quick to build rapport and make us feel included in the resort vibes. We plunged immediately into extreme relaxation with a “honeymoon massage” at the spa, which included time in the dry and steam saunas, a special hammam exfoliation ritual on a heated marble slab, a full-body Dead Sea mud wrap, and an oil massage. The masseuses were talkative and playful - possibly not to everyone’s taste, but this seems to be the Egyptian way and certainly got me smiling and giggling along. There is not a moment of the day when you might be at risk of going hungry. From the early breakfast in the main restaurant, to the late breakfast at the beach, to the drinks and snacks on offer throughout the day at the pool bar and restaurant, there is always a wide array of quality F&B choices. There is some variation from day -to-day options, and it’s always worth checking out the “fresh-from-the-grill” area to see what the day’s speciality may be. Part of the stay includes one complementary meal at one of the two a la carte restaurants (Italian/Egyptian) where the food is a level or two up from what’s served in the buffets. Go hungry - the Egyptian meal included a starter of hot and cold mezze, a soup, a main course and a dessert (with alternative plant-based and kiddies’ menus). The resort has done a lot to ensure that it is eco friendly. Apart from the usual request to hang up towels to save water on unnecessary cleaning, they also purify their own water, which is left in your room in chilled glass bottles (it tastes a little weird, but it’s good for the planet). Overall, highly recommend the Solymar resort.

GGuest UserThe location and the beach at Sheraton Soma Bay are truly beautiful, and the welcome upon arrival was friendly and attentive. The property is well maintained, but overall it feels quite outdated and somewhat old-fashioned. Unfortunately, we experienced several service and organizational issues during our stay. At the beach bar, we ordered a milkshake but were served a juice instead without being asked — we were later told there was an issue with the ice. Instead of informing us, the staff simply replaced the drink without consultation. At dinner, incorrect dishes were brought to our table, and when we pointed it out, we were told the mistake was due to our ordering. One evening, a staff member pressured us to pay immediately and insisted on accompanying us to the reception to clarify the charge, even though we explained that we wanted to charge it to the room. At reception, we were told that charging to the room was perfectly fine. At check-out, we also discovered that one dinner had been charged twice. In addition, our room key stopped working several times on the day of departure — even though we had paid extra for a late check-out. The food and beverage offering is disappointing. The selection is very limited, especially for non-all-inclusive guests, with very few healthy options. The bar menus — both at the beach bar and the main bar — are closer to snack-bar level than to a hotel of this category. All-inclusive wine is served from cartons, and plastic water bottles are placed on the dinner tables. At breakfast, fresh juices often ran out quickly and were not refilled. The restaurant is frequently overcrowded, making it difficult to find a table. Compared to other hotels in Soma Bay, this property offers noticeably less atmosphere, entertainment, and overall quality. In Conclusion: Beautiful location and beach, but service, organization, and overall standards unfortunately do not meet expectations for a hotel in this category. There are clearly better alternatives in Soma Bay.

GGuest UserThe sea view from this hotel is beautiful, and the property is quite large, giving it a real resort feel. There are about four or five restaurants, but the food is a bit monotonous and average. If you're not too picky about food and just want to sunbathe, enjoy the sea view, and swim in shallow waters, then it's a good choice. Regarding the discrimination everyone is concerned about, it definitely exists, and it's specifically targeted at Chinese guests. When dining at the Asian restaurant and another nearby one, there were several ****** waiters. They would serve white guests with a smile, proactively asking what juice they wanted, but completely ignore Chinese guests or pretend not to understand what juice they were asking for. It's not overt discrimination, but you can feel the subtle bias everywhere. From the moment I checked in at the front desk with my Chinese passport, it seemed the differential treatment began. I visited in early June during the off-season, and the hotel was noticeably empty and quiet. Yet, they insisted that buildings 3 and 4 were full and that only a ground-floor room was left in building 5. The front desk staff's attitude was also very poor. Only one gentleman during checkout and a lady named Riwan, who spoke excellent Chinese, treated Chinese guests well. It's not about tipping! Because most of the white guests I observed were 'poor whites' who didn't tip anyway – wealthy whites would be in Southern Italy, not here. Yet, the staff treated them much better. For Chinese guests, they would rudely shout 'China, China, nihao' and try to scam more money. Sigh, there were still some staff members who had good attitudes and didn't discriminate. There was also a bellboy who proactively smiled and helped me; I tipped him because I felt his service was well-deserved. In summary, that's my experience. Many Chinese tourists choose this place, roughly half of the total guests, paying the same price, but unfortunately not receiving equal treatment.

GGuest UserEven though it's an older hotel, the facilities aren't dated. The bedding was a bit pilled but very clean. The front desk staff were great; they upgraded us to a sea-view room when we checked in at 1 AM, and the bellhop helped with our luggage without expecting a tip. Check-out is at noon, and you can store your luggage. The sea view was much better than expected – you could easily spend a whole day just relaxing there without going out. The meals were a bit 'Western' fare, but the omelets at breakfast were delicious, and dinner included sea prawns and fish.

MMarawanWe stayed in Jaz hotel for 4 days in early April in a deluxe pool-view queen room. Positives: - The hotel is situated in a very convenient location, on the touristic promenade and quite close to the airport.  - The pools are great, the hotels has in total 6 pools and even though we sometimes had difficulty finding an empty spot to sit at the main pool, we could always find a spot on the other pools where the atmosphere was equally amazing and very relaxing. - The restaurant quality is top notch, one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had anywhere, with a big variety across the different days, along with a focus on egyptian food and seafood, which i appreciated. The restaurant’s head chef himself supervised the dinner serving and gave us daily recommendations. Negatives: - The staff is helpful but not as overtly friendly and willing to help as we had experienced in other hotels. Service can sometimes be quite slow. - The room furniture, even though it’s modern, looks a bit used and is not very well maintained. - The rooms are clean, but again not at the same level of cleanliness you would expect at this price level. - Internet speed is quite low (2-3 Mbps), so no streaming possible - There are daily nightly entertainment programs, however, they are not as varied or extensive as other hotels i had experienced. I got the impression that the hotel is more targeted towards older travelers who prefer the peace and quiet and don’t care about nightly activities, but it may be because of the time of the year I visited in. Overall, it was a good experience and the negatives I listed can be considered nitpicky, but honestly, at this price level, I would expect a flawless experience and I have had better experiences at this price level in Hurghada. The only clear positive for Jaz is the quality of the restaurant.

MM440560****The check-in process at the front desk was incredibly slow; I waited over ten minutes, only to be given a room completely different from the sea-view room I booked—it faced a wall! I had to get angry before they finally switched me to a room with a sea view. It’s best to double-check everything at the front desk when checking in, especially since the rooms are quite a distance from the front desk, and the restaurant is across from the front desk, requiring a walk from the beach. This hotel's pool and beach don't prohibit Muslim swimwear, but the cleanliness felt average, and the facilities are a bit old. A particular note for parents: the pool under the children's play area is very deep. Even though there are lifeguards, parents should definitely accompany their children. The food is typical Egyptian quality, with freshly cut fruit and two dishes prepared live daily. The location is quite good, right in the middle of a lively area and very close to the city pier. However, be cautious of the small Egyptian souvenir shops to the left of the main entrance; I don't recommend them. If you really want to shop there, go with a group. The hotel also has its own pier for direct sea excursions, but be sure to choose your boat captain carefully. The hotel's landscaping is well-maintained with many cats, and the beach water is crystal clear, perfect for spotting small fish and water birds. There's morning yoga by the sea and evening entertainment. There are many hotels in this area, so you might consider staying at a few to get a different experience.

JJamie ThooWe had a disappointing experience using Uber while trying to go to Senzo Mall, which is actually very close to the hotel. The price shown in the app was 1 pound, but the driver asked for 5 pounds instead. This made us feel uncomfortable and sadly felt like we were being taken advantage of. Because of this, we decided not to proceed and instead booked a taxi directly through the hotel. Although the price was 4 pounds, it felt much safer, clearer, and more reliable. For other travelers, we would recommend using the hotel’s taxi service for peace of mind, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. As a small suggestion, it would be great if the hotel could consider providing a shuttle bus service for guests to travel around nearby places such as Senzo Mall, which would make getting around even more convenient and comfortable.

GGuest UserGreat location, the old town with shops and restaurants is within walking distance, the Zeytona beach island is nearby, you can get there by boat or walk 10 minutes, there is a restaurant on this island with a bar. Great breakfasts. Excellent service everywhere, the guys try very hard, and not under pressure, but from the heart. The hotel is, of course, to put it mildly, ”tired”, it needs renovation, but the efforts of the staff and the location compensate for this))). I will be happy to come back.

SSuoyinihaozaijian-This all-inclusive hotel offers great value for money. My cultural trip through Egypt finally got better in Hurghada. Many people say the buffet is mediocre, but I personally thought it was pretty good. Maybe it's because I hadn't had a proper meal for days in Egypt, so having a buffet really felt like a blessing. There's a small convenience store right outside the hotel, which is super handy for buying things. The only downside is the internet; it's really poor and barely connects.
