It was run down and dirty to the point you would question if you wanted to touch anything . Drunks and ********** about when we returned there the plan was just to rough it for the night but when we got back there we didn’t feel safe so just drove home

Checked in at around 19:00hr and checked out 15 minutes after as the 2 rooms booked for a family of 6 were awful - not cleaned at all. Floors were sticky, bathrooms full of body fat, sinks full of dirt, toilets full of toilet tissue. Pay after checking

I have no idea where to start. This place was absolutely disgusting. I won't even call it a hotel. We arrived early and went to see if we could park in the car park as the gates were closed. The door was locked and had to ring a bell. When they did eventually open we were bluntly told no. Check in was at 2 so we waited about. 2 came and we went and rung the bell again. What a joke. The receptionist was so rude. Just gave threw our key on the desk. As we walked up to our room was the start of the state of the hotel. I have never experienced anything like it before in my life. Holes in the walls, wallpaper coming off, electrics hanging off the ceiling. Then we got to the room. 🤢 it was so filthy. I cant even describe in words how disgusting it was. I will attach pictures. But the last pic did make us wonder a bit. But please don't book this hotel

I genuinely don't know where to start with this one as it was such a bad experience. We were up in Stoke-on-Trent to visit the Titanic Brewery and the George was the closest hotel in terms of walking distance to the brewery. Now, we had stayed here before and overlooked the quirks the hotel had at the time (2017). However, this occasion could be overlooked as it was without a doubt the worst experience I have had regarding a hotel and I have stayed in a few dodgy ones during my 50 years on this planet. So, buckle up! Here comes my review: Arrived a little early and usually the car-park gates were open and you could drive in and park up with no issue. However, the gates were firmly shut so we had to navigate the one-way system to get back to the hotel. Finally parked up next to the hotel on the street. My wife and friend went to see whether we could check-in. When they arrived the front door was firmly locked and it was starting to look as though the hotel had permanently closed. It turns out you have to now ring a bell. So, they rang the bell and the door opened. Asking whether they could check in they were abruptly told "No, it's not 2 pm yet" It was a case of waiting around until 2 pm before we could do anything. Finally, 2 pm came and we rang the bell. First impressions usually count and really we shouldn't have carried on further. The steps up to the door can only be described as trip hazards and dangerous. The door opened answered by who I assumed was a member of staff. On entering the smell of dampness hit the nose and the floors were dusty as anything and were in dire need of a ruddy good clean. I don't think even Kim or Aggie would have been able to help at this hotel. We were all asked for an ID card which we thought was a bit random but, we duly did as we were asked. The keys were thrown at us along with our ID no "have a good stay" or directions to where the rooms were. Eventually, we stumbled across them and walked into the room. We left our friends to find their room which was just around the corner. Our room was large with a 4-poster bed but, that's the best bit. There was an inch of dust on the furniture, I don't think this room had been cleaned in a very long time. 2 lights above the bed which you had to move to access the switches. 1 light worked and one didn't have a light bulb in it at all. The mattress was just a piece of foam cut to size and this had mold on it. It had no mattress cover just the sheet on top. No thanks we were not going to sleep on that so had to sleep on the duvet instead. The flat-screen TV was just for show as there was no power to it at all and no remote control either. The bathroom light worked when it wanted to. Coffee and tea-making fees were awful as well. In the bathroom, the shower was broken and you could just about get a shower out of it but it really wasn't worth it. When we asked our friends what their room was like. They mentioned that they couldn't use the shower as the floor leak

For one night it’s do-able. Can’t say it was the best place to stay, looks very run down and isn’t the best but if you just need somewhere to sleep it’s not the end of the world. The ‘delux double room’ was spacious, probably because of the lack of furniture. The TV was broken and just buzzed when it was on. The floor was creaky as well as the bed. The mattress was probably the only good thing about it. The locks on the door work. There is a lot of noise from others in the ‘hotel’ and the traffic outside. Only provided with one bath towel for a shower when we booked as two adults. It was a large bathroom with a broken shower head so be prepared to have to hold it to actually shower. The pervious message left in the mirror (see the other review haha) was still on the mirror that just tells you the level of cleaning standards provided; loads of dust, broken curtains, broken windows, part of the shower broken, broken lights, broken TV, stains on duvet, stains on the chairs and a lovely little dead bug in the bed. Checkout time was 12:00 but doubt you’d want to stay till then. Good luck if you choose to stay here wouldn’t do it again but it was somewhere to sleep.

Receptionist rude abrupt dirty windowsills dust on skirting no hangers in wardrobe room cold car park has to be manually opened by receptionist as it’s locked by metal gates and she begrudged opening it for me and wasn’t afraid to show it and the DSS people on top floor drugged up and intimidating bedroom door lock did not lock felt unsafe as a single woman dirty hotel seen better days

This hotel definitely has 17th century features and characteristics. The most noticeable feature is 17th century deep clean. I knew it wasn't last cleaned by Joshua Wedgwood because of the year on the bottle of upholstery cleaning fluid and cloths left for me on the chair. I will ignore the stains on the wall . The bathroom was passable until you notice the broken pot on the shelf with some brown dried substance . Let's move on to the final straw. Hair on the pillow. Not many I grant you but I have to look at old photographs to find mine. The characters were the one's who issue them with three star's. One was from Edison for using electric, the second was for having a roof, the third for having windows (just a pity one was stuck open). My thanks to the inventor of the smart phone. New hotel arranged within five minutes. To. Paraphrase General McCarther " I will not return"

It’s fair to say this hotel is in some serious need of refurbishment, as you walk up the main staircase the wallpaper is literally hanging on for dear life, the carpet is past thread bare and has had no decoration of any description for about 30 years maybe more, the general facilities leave a lot to be desired with 1 cup from the 1970’s 2 saucers for tea but no milk and no spoons, a hairdryer that failed a PAT test 12 years ago and hasn’t been replaced, 1 double plug socket a tiny TV with no remote to even turn it on, no hand soap, broken toilet roll holder and no shower screen. The room was beyond basic with a false ceiling and laminate floors, the mattress springs were shot and pillows flat as a pancake, no plug socket by the bed and a FILTHY chair with mould growing in the closet. Got no sleep as I was located right outside a drag bar when the music finally stopped at 1am couldn’t have a wash as the “shower” ran about as fast a fat kid on cake. I can’t comment on breakfast as there wasn’t any Overall not a place you want to visit more than zero times, frankly I’d have rather swapped places with the homeless guy I saw on the street in the morning

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever visited. Outside my hotel room there was a massive piece of wallpaper lying on the floor because of the damp wall. The room was filthy and had not been cleaned. I went in the bathroom, the door did not shut, the toilet paper holder was broken, the window did not shut and the shower screen was covered in old soap/shower gel marks. The sink had a massive crack in it too. When I turned the bed down there were massive black lumps in the bed. I went to look at the room for my daughter and it was much the same. The fire escape door had broken glass panels plus a chain wrapped around the handle, next to this was a door with stairs broken do not enter sign. After taking pictures we took a long walk downstairs to be met by, well it has been cleaned! Whatever you do, do not book here for your holiday/break.
