The entrance is via an automated gate.with access by intercom. We were greeted by Callum who directed us to an alternative entrance closer to our room. Once settled into our lovely room, we enjoyed scones and jam on the outside terrace at the front of the house. As it was cold, We were asked if we would like our woodburning stove lit that evening. As we only wanted something light to eat we did not dine in the restaurant but used the Republic, a 5 min walk away. On return we used the heaters to warm the room so when turndown service arrived we had no need for the fire. However, it quickly became apparent that the heated towel rail and underfloor heating was not working in the bathroom and despite efforts to rectify this they would not work. We were quickly moved to the family room next door. This accommodation is enormous with entrance hall, lounge with 2 sofas and bed, a separate bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds, toilet and bathroom. The lounge leads out to a large balcony with table and chairs. This accommodation did not have the luxury feel of our original room and looked in need of refurbishment. However, it would adequately meet the needs of a family. The staff were very friendly and wanted to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. It was a lovely touch to have hot water bottles to warm the beds. Make sure you have a good appetite to make the most of the breakfast . We have never experienced anything like it and could not eat all the food that was provided. We were also very surprised to see our car being washed before departure. On checking out, we met the owner who is justifiably proud of her house.
