Main hotel in Tabuaço built around 2013. Rooms are quite large and clean. Beds are very hard and equipped with low quality mattresses. Breakfast is varied and average quality. Spacious room overlooking the Douro River. No air conditioning the night we stayed because they said it was cold and raining and only the heat is available. The receptionist at check in was not very friendly or accommodating. She acted like it was a lot of trouble for her to arrange a wine tasting tour for us. The restaurant was deafening loud during dinner because there were a couple of tour groups. I would not recommend shrimp risotto.

When we arrived we were given room 201. This was a standard room and in accordance with our booking (booked via a travel agency in connection with our hiking week in the Douro Valley). The room was OK albeit a little dark. No balcony, but only few rooms at the Pousada have one. So not unexpected. But upon enquiry with reception for an extra charge of 10 Euro a night we got room 104, which was a much bigger room, with a lot of character, and probably with the best balcony of all the rooms. It made our stay so much more enjoyable. The shower was a little strange, but it worked, and the towels were really big (always a plus in my book). We stayed two nights and had dinner in the restaurant one of the nights. Excellent food and really good and professional service – and very reasonably priced. Smooth check-in, very friendly reception staff. Our booking included lunch packages for our hikes each day, and these were very nice and included plastic containers with a nice fresh salat. Much appreciated. This hotel was the only one during our hiking week that provided paper tissues. The only thing we missed in the room was an electric kettle.

This hotel is in a small town outside Porto. We were there a couple days and would have loved to stay longer, but were on a tour. Our room faced the Douro river with a beautiful view. You could leave the hotel directly onto the promenade and walk along the river to shops. Beautiful pool. The restaurant was deluxe. We ate at the ”bar” which had great food at reasonable prices and tables outdoors on the water with great food and service.

The hotel is beautiful, located in their own vineyard. You can also participate in their own wine tour and wine tasting. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant are of a high standard. Breakfast is included in the price and dinner is not expensive. Our group of 6 ordered the menu menu with wine pairing, and we were almost full. Two of us lived in a large wine barrel, which was fun but a bit small (especially after seeing other people ’s rooms contrasted), and there was a short walk to get back to the hotel ’s building, so if It is not recommended for children or elderly people.
