The local hot spring association dug a large outdoor hot spring pool at the entrance of the Kumano River. It was my first time to experience outdoor hot springs and stargazing. You need to pay an additional 150 yen/person hot spring tax when you check out. It is recommended to book the hotel's 900 yen lunch box if you want to hike the Kumano Kodo the next day. It is worth it.
The hotel is in a good location, with a bus stop at the door. The next day, because we were in a hurry, the hotel specially arranged a free shuttle bus to take us to the nearby bus stop (normally only at 9 o'clock). Thank you very much.

Kawayu is a very special experience. The hotel is easy to find and close to the bus station. Breakfast and dinner are pretty good. The uncle at the front desk speaks good English and is very enthusiastic. He patiently explains the route and helps make phone calls, etc. Thumbs up!

I also stayed at Yufeng and Midoriya Sansui (I forgot the name) in Kumano last year. Fujiya is the best in all aspects. But unexpectedly, I found that many details in the room were very dirty and had not been cleaned for a long time.
