The excellent location and spectacular view from the balcony make this place a real gem. There is a superb pizza place around the corner and the hotel overlooks the city square, just a bit down the hill. We arrived at the top of the hill and were already on the 4th floor, which is bananas. The decor is retro, but somehow fits the historic building perfectly. The rooms were clean and had updated shutters on the door and large window. The only downside was the weak air conditioning, which the guest has no control over, but it’s not at all a deal-breaker. Full disclosure: it was super-hot outside, so any a/c was welcomed. Overall, the location and view outweigh everything and make this an excellent choice.

Hola,estuvimos en este Hotel antiguo muy bien mantenido en el que hay por todos lados unas esculturas y cuadros que son una maravilla. Ni hablar de las vistas desde el 5to piso donde hay un bar de tragos con vistas al volcán Etna. Nuestra habitación la 421 tiene un balcón con vista lateral al mar ( lo único que le cambiaría es el mobiliario). El desayuno está muy bien, se sirve en el 1er piso y si queres te dan una bandeja para tomarlo en la terraza con vistas al Etna. Tiene un servicio gratuito de traslado a 3 playas distintas ( tenes que pagar lo que cobra el parador x 1 sombrilla y 2 reposeras, en nuestro caso elegimos La Dolce VITA x 30 euros ). Quiero destacar la atención en recepción de un siciliano de nombre Daniel que además de hablar perfecto español es muy amable Este hotel relación precio/servicio es muy bueno. Ahhh me olvidaba desde el 1er piso bajas una escalera y estas en la peatonal Corso Umberto

Amazing hotel, amazing location, very comfortable with amazing view. I cant express how beautiful this hotel is. the breakfast was good as well. Totally recommended, and if i ever visit again (which i hope i do); i will definitely stay in Vello Doro

Excellent experience at this hotel - it isn't the fanciest, but it is clean, safe, well located, the staff is very kind, and the views are OUTSTANDING. My room was only for one person (twin bed) but it was sufficient. Few people go to Taormina to stay in their rooms. My balcony overlooking Mt Etna and the Ionian sea made up for any lack of square footage in the room. The hotel arranged a taxi for me to and from the airport, which was helpful. There is a very loud bar that plays live music every night (other reviews also mention this)...I heard it but was able to sleep through it. Perhaps if you are a light sleeper, maybe ask for a room in the front of the hotel, not the back

The hotel has good bones and in its day must have been rather grand. Today it is a well-located three star solution though tired. Central air, off for the season, left us struggling to be comfortable.

Veldig bra beliggenhet, litt høyt oppe med god utsikt. Vi hadde en grei terrasse (veranda) med plass til både solseng og to sitteplasser. Veldig fin bar øverst på hotellet med kjempeutsikt både til havet og Etna. Relativ enkel standard på rommet, og beskjedent med utvalg ved frokosten. I sum et bra hotell med flott beliggenhet.

This hotel was in an excellent location for exploring Taormina, especially being able to access the back door which led right out to the Corso Umberto! Staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English ,which was helpful to us. Our room was a good size with plenty of storage and the adjoins bathroom was quaint, although the shower was a bit dated. Everything was very clean and housekeeping was efficient. The little balcony overlooked the sea in the distance and although we could hear music from local bars and restaurants it wasn’t invasive. The buffet breakfast was good and plentiful.
The only disappointing thing was the airport shuttle which was on the website at €50 each way. Staff were amazed at this price when we showed them and we had to pay €140 for a private taxi.
