Life Hotel Valle Sagrado

This was a great hotel for our vacation! First off, the staff was very accommodating and very nice to us. We had a problem with our hot water the first night and the staff jumped on the issue and put us in another room and insured we had hot water. It was a little cold that night and they hooked us up with an extra space heater that kept our room toasty the whole stay. The food in the restaurant was really fresh and the steak was made perfectly. We were all very impressed with the food!! The free breakfast was also delicious and they even made my eggs to order! The most impressive “above and beyond” moment, though, was when we were leaving. While packing our rental car we noticed a tire was flat. Luckily the car came with a spare but the flat tire was stuck on the car. We were going to have to wait hours to get help. The hotel staff brought over a hotel maintenance worker who was able to free the tire and put our spare on for us. It truly saved losing a whole day of vacation and I was so grateful. This above and beyond service is what you hope for in a vacation and they delivered. Thank you so much for the hospitality!
Parwa Guest House

This hotel is perfectly situated between the Ollyantaytambo ruins and Pikuylluna. We were very comfortable at Parwa House. It was very clean and the gentleman at the front desk wasvery kind and very helpful. The breakfast in room by the garden was wonderful with fresh bread and fruit. The scrambled eggs were made perfectly. We would wish for less harmless, tiny bugs in our room. They are attracted to the white walls at night and disappear in the day. Also, a window cover in the shower would be a nice option (though all we it looked out to were trees). Small matters. Two of us didn’t know how to use the shower properly and had cold showers that was probably more our own fault 😂 than the hotel’s. Please note, you need to climb about 20 steep steps to get to the entrance off the main road. Backpacks are best to have (as opposed to suitcases). Ollyantaytambo is cobbled stoned, so I imagine almost all hotels are not suitcase friendly.
Terrazas del Inca Bed and Breakfast

The rooms are small but well appointed. They are very helpful but only speak Spanish. We stayed in a room we were quoted as 40 USD but I paid in Soles. The conversion was fair. There is a standard charge 5 percent to use your credit card. It was very clean and the staff was very helpful but June nights are cold by the river and there was no heater remaining when we asked. The bathroom was nice with a big shower and beautiful sink. Just had to step up to get from the room to the bath. Pics are from AFTER we used the room. It was clean and made up when we arrived. Meant for one but big enough for 2 people. I didnt find it noisy and the upstairs patio was a great place to rest after checkout before the train. Wifi was solid and the staff had great advice! Great It location. It was midway to the hot spring and the train. In the morning away from the lines but direct path and very ose to the bus to Machu Picchu.

We stayed two nights on a Exoticca guided tour. We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the resort and grounds were. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. It was very convenient that there was a restaurant on site. Our waiters Orlando and Rudy were very helpful with the menu and recommendations. They both were friendly, polite and pleasant to talk to. The hotel had a lot of character and the nature couldn’t be beat. There were even llamas on property grazing. It was such a beautiful place just to walk around and explore. Very peaceful.

Stopped overnight on the way to macchu pichu. Agus calientes is the perfect place to stop en route to agua calientes. This little hotel is right on the middle of the little town. Walking distance to the train station and the buses and the markets nad restaurants. Our room was small, room 203. We had ok wifi - not great. Warm shower water. Room could do with an upgrade. Our room had no view at all- we looked onto a square small area . Had a quick breakfast before we left for macchu pichu in the morning.

I’m a torn on this hotel. On the one hand, the service was fantastic. The staff were extremely helpful and were great to deal with. On the other hand, the photos of the hotel do not match most of the actual rooms at all. The rooms are extremely barebones and there are gaps between the windows and walls that you can see daylight through, the views were non-existent, etc. the door barely locked and could easily be forced, the windows didn’t lock, and it was extremely loud in the room. The photos vs reality is pretty much a bait and switch. I’m not sure if it is still under construction or renovation or what, but the rooms are absolutely nothing like what is depicted in the booking photos. I did walk by some rooms that appeared to be nicer, but the room we were given (and the several I saw next to ours) was not great at all. Additionally, there is no indication on the booking page that you will need to climb 60ish steps up a hill to the hotel. This wasn’t an issue for me but if someone wasn’t aware or unable to make the climb this could be a nasty surprise. We didn’t know this was the case until they sent us an email letting us know the day we arrived. Honestly I’d have given this 1 star if the service wasn’t as good as it was. Looking at other reviews, it appears one other person had our experiences but others didn’t. Perhaps it’s luck of the draw with the rooms but be aware that not all of them match the photos at all. For not much more money you can find other accommodations in the town that are far better.
