When we first arrived, my mother was given a room which first of all was more a closet than a room. Secondly, it had no desktable or bedside-lamp. In her shower, A LOT OF mosquitoes were flying up from the drain, continuously, so she had to cover it with a towel. When we complained about them (they were not in mine or anyone elses room) the staff said "well, it's Venice, there are mosquitoes". Very rude. In the same room, a buzzing sound, the kind that vibrates the whole room, kept turning on and off all during the night, which left my mother quite desperate and sleepless, crying in the morning. The staff did not believe her. They tried to make an alliance with me, indicating and trying to get me to agree, that she was IMAGINING things. Which she was not. We made the concierge go to the room and feel it himself, after which he agreed to give her another room. Unacceptable to have to fight for basic decent treatment. The breakfast is 15 euros per person a day for white bread and jam and a little bit of scrambled egg. The waiter from 12.- 14. sept. 2024 were totally bothered and sighing when there were guests that needed attention. None of the staff were expecially kind, welcoming or smiling - except for the kind young man in the hotel bar. The hotel is unusually noisy and the walls extremely thin. This kept me awake every night, making it hard to fall asleep and waking me up several times. The electric doorlocks buzzed at random times as well, making it feel like someone was entering your room. The fridges were warming, not cooling things, no matter the setting. The overall dimensions of our singleperson rooms were such that you have to have a smaller size body, to feel comfortable. The showers were narrow and the floorspace too. We had no duvet covers, only a single sheet to sleep under. This is the worst hotel I've stayed at in Venice. It's my 8th trip to the city. So bad.
